The apartment was very comfortable and spacious, with a full kitchen and two bedrooms. Franco, the host, was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions on places to go in the city. The neighborhood is safe and within walking distance to some of the city's main attractions, such as the Capella Palatina. We rented a car during our stay and were able to park it easily on the street.
The appartment is spacious, luminous and airy and very nicely renovated with all the necessities you normally use at home. The balcony allows you to take a sneak peak of real vibrant Palermo street life, yet the moment you close the door, you enter the realms of silence. The location is very central, near the fascinating Ballaro historical market with authentic Palermitano food (stigghioli or pani zu'la meuza are a must). And signiore Francesco was very accurate and helpfull and guided us to two amazing restaurants with mouth watering Sicilian food. All in all - if we are going back to Palermo, we will be staying in Casa Orleans again.
We had a lovely stay at Casa Orleans. It was great to be in the center of Palermo and the flat is very comfortable.
Francesco nous a très bien accueillies, il est très gentil et arrangeant. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié qu'il vienne nous chercher dans la gare. L'appartement est bien, propre, pratique. Sa situation permet de plonger dans la vie de Palerme !
Very comfortable and sweet apartment for 2-3 people. It is clean and well equipped. Wi-fi works well. There are two small shops and market not far from the apartment. Some of the sights are very close, bus stop to Monreale also. Quite far from the bus to Mondello beach. Last 5th floor, may be it will be not convenient with heavy baggage or baby carriage.
Franco was very welcome and helpful except for misunderstanding with check out.
Please note that it is historical center and not city center. People around mostly are not Italian but friendly anyway.
We enjoyed our vacation in Palermo and this lovely apartment.
Franco, his wife & the apartment were a Godsend. They really did everything they could to accommodate me. The flat was exactly as it looked in the pictures and it was conviently located. The area did looked more intimidating than it actually is. It was a real Italian experience. The people in the area were all very nice and helpful.
Francesco was a lovely, incredibly gracious host. The apartment is as described in the pictures. It was very clean and came with all the necessities. Palermo was the first stop on our trip and on our first night our car that was parked in the alley behind the apartment was broken into. Francesco helped us navigate filing a police report and was very helpful as our unofficial Italian interpreter. The incident is by no means a reflection on the neighborhood, as we were told Palermo is a city where things like this happen (to tourist rental vehicles mostly) but something to keep in mind if you are renting a car and parking.
This being said, as other have mentioned the apartment is a good 4 story walk up, so bring your walking shoes! Francesco was nice enough to help me with my luggage, but I can see this being an issue for some people. The wifi signal in the apartment was also pretty weak but if you aren't concerned about the internet, that shouldn't be an issue at all!
I wish our days in Palermo were not as chaotic and we could enjoy the apartment/city more but Francesco was a fantastic host and the apartment was comfortable and walkable to all the sights.
