Had a great time staying at Martina's AIRBNB. Very quiet and rarely saw anyone around the house. When we did cross paths we enjoyed chatting with Martina who was a most gracious host. The room was nice and quiet, clean and the walk in shower and water pressure was fantastic. I would suggest an accordion type door on the bathroom instead of a curtain for extra privacy but we only shared the bathroom with one other person so no big deal. Would love to stay here again when we visit our son who only lives up the street. Great places to have coffee and treats on my early morning walks while my wife slept in. Very secure building and family members were friendly but not overbearing. Thanks Martina
Martina is great, and I had a great time there. It was enjoyable to chat with her as well as with Michael. This was my first experience with airbnb and it was very enjoyable. I initially stayed in the laundry room until a room beame available. I stayed in 2 different rooms, one on the top floor and the one on the first level with a private bathroom. The private bathroom had a bath but no shower, so I went on the top floor for the shower.
The only problem with the room in the first floor is the street light is strong and the curtains are light, meaning it looks like full moon everynight. It was ok for me as I had one of those eye cover band.
The bathroom with shower on the top floor does not have a door, it has a curtain, so if tightly lock bathroom door privacy is a requirement for you, just be prepared. No big deal for me since all good people - no crazy nuts.
The neighborhood is great and safe. Just 300 feet away is a starbucks and a nice Mexican restaurant. A 1/3 of a mile away, there is this excellent "spoon" korean restaurant.
I loved staying here! I was welcomed jnto a beautiful home, family, and community of travelers. I truly felt welcomed and at home . I highly highly recommend this house as a long stay term stay.
It's in a very convenient location--
You can take the 72 bus to 19th street bart or walk a mile to ashby bart station. Berkeley bowl. (The most fabulous) is .6 mile stroll away!
Martina is an awesome and lively host! The room is lovely with beautiful sunlight.
We just moved in the Bay area and were looking for a place to stay before finding an apartment. This place had everything we needed for that purpose.
It is as described in the text and photos, and well equiped, so we could be on our own, use the kitchen to cook, etc
We haven't met Martina because she was travelling, but Michael and Dylan were really welcoming. There were also other guests staying, really nice and friendly too!
If you're visiting the Bay area and San Francisco, I would recommend this place, as it is well located and at really good price!
This was my first air bnb experience - and was quite pleased! The room, and whimsical barn-style house (which was built by Michael, who greeted me at my car, and carried my bags to my room!), were a welcome, cheerful, eclectic bohemian sanctuary in the midst of an otherwise super-urban part of town. Thankfully, I scored(!)... Without knowing the exact address - this sweet spot was located literally right around the corner from the conference I'd come to attend! So I got to walk to and fro, leaving my car safely parked, and avoiding the mad city chaos. And the unexpected private balcony was a great bonus - and the shower was great! Were I to need to be in this area again, I would surely return to this friendly place. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet my hostess, Martina, as she was travelling during the time of my stay. Casual, safe and trusting vibe.

About the Host, Martina
Enjoy the tranquility of a custom build trophy home with a large sun deck on the third floor, two balconies and a sweet garden with a barbecue deck and native California plants. We lavish in guests who are on a mission with their lives yet have time to stop to chat. Since I keep the house extremely clean it would be great if you are out of the house 10-4 pm Mo-Fri, if at all possible. We subscribe to the New Yorker. We have boatloads of friends in a wonderful community and prefer guests who are flexible in their room choices. I will always take your wish into consideration yet due to logistics I can not always adhere to my promises. This is to guarantee prices under market value. Please keep your showers (4 minutes) short and dry your feet before you step out of the tub. Please look at all your lights in the room when you leave so that you turn them off. We keep fantastic Peet's coffee and a drip filter around. Also fresh fruit, cereal, orange juice and milk is for you to enjoy. Please try to keep eating in the rooms to a minimum and let me know if you spilled something I will clean it asap, or ask where to find our natural cleaning supplies. Simply place your dishes into the left sink or around it I will wash them in a sanitary way Monday through Friday. On the weekend your help is appreciated to keep the kitchen clean. The big green bin under the counter to the right of the fridge is the recyclables. A paper bag is our garbage bag and to the right of our sink is a bowl for compost. Next to our parking pad you will find a big gray bin where the recycles go and a maroon/red colored bin which holds the "trash". Right outside the garden gate is the compost. I truly appreciate, and notice, if someone brings these things out in case they run over. There is lots of OFF-street parking and except for Thursday morning they do not come and ticket, so make sure to read the signs carefully. After 10 PM check-ins will cost you $ 50.00 however you can always come as early as 10 AM to drop off your suitcase and get into your room if I have it ready.
Thanks for your enthusiasm please text me day and night at (phone number hidden).
Warmly, Martina Michael and DylanGrace
ps If you are inquiring about our Tiny Linen room, special requirements need to be met. Please let me know and I'll send you those seperately.
Free local bus i.e. McArthur Transfer station with Emery-Go-Around sponsored by Pixar to Bart/Metro, easy access to downtown San Francisco as well as Berkeley and Oakland. The 49 leaves from San Pablo and Dwight to UC Berkeley.
We travel a lot and enjoy times away trekking and camping. Often on extended stays in Europe. So if we do not get back to you right away it is because we are beyond WIFI. We are also very health conscious and therefore keep shoes off in the house and wash our hands often especially every time we enter the house to keep germs at bay.
A piano and a full kitchen (place your food in brown bags and mark your items w black marker you will find in the drawer under the gray donation box) . Our kitchen is mostly crystal clean and ready for you to use. There is a small bathroom off the living room and extra supplies behind the door to the left. We are wireless, cook mostly organic foods and grocery at the award winning store Berkeley Bowl West and at our local Farmer's Markets. We live sustainably, dry our laundry on a line in the garden.
Please let me know when you need to have your laundry washed, I will do it for you (place $6 per load into the gray box).
Always contact us before you come so we can get ready for you and can make arrangements to have someone open the garden gate. Check in time 3 pm and check-out time 12 noon.
