We offer self check-in. But ideally I will be here to let you in.

Street parking is pretty easy to find. (I provide visitor permits for $10/day). A visitor permit is needed Mon. - Fri. from 10am - 5pm. On Thursdays you shouldn't park on our side, there will be street cleaning. No permit needed on weekends/holidays.

The space
I understand that you may have concerns about staying in someone else's home.  I want to assure you that our home will be a safe space for you to enjoy. The 2nd floor bedroom and bathroom are completely private.   The hall is shared by everyone. There are two sets of stairs you will encounter. Outside, up to the front door. And inside, up to the 2nd floor.

The house is old and a bit worn around the edges but loved! The front entrance is shared by me, my husband, our tenant (who lives on the 3rd floor in a self-contained apartment), and our Airbnb guests. We have seating in our gated courtyard in front of the house. It's a nice place to enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail while you enjoy the local scene! 
        Your room has a queen-size bed in a light filled room. There is a full-sized bed in the alcove for additional guests. A closet and convenient dresser provide space for your belongings.

There is NO SMOKING or VAPING allowed in the house.

Amenities provided in your private bathroom: Linens, towels, soap/shampoo (and detergent should you want to use the washer/dryer). Also for your use: WiFI and cable T.V. Though we can't offer kitchen access, there is microwave, toaster, coffee making supplies, cutlery, glasses, plates, bowls and a mini-fridge in the bathroom.

A key to your room gives you privacy, the bathroom locks from the inside and is for your exclusive use. My sewing studio is the on the same floor, but the bathroom is yours alone!

My husband Tom and I live on the ground and 1st (parlor) floor and both of us work from home. Everyone, including the tenant on the 3rd floor uses the front door as the entrance to the house. There is one cat, Fat Eddie, who has access to all the public spaces. He is friendly, quiet, and not demanding! He does not visit the second floor except by invitation!

Guest access
Guests have sole access to their own bedroom and bathroom. There are no additional rooms for guest use. There is no access to the areas lived in by the hosts, though everyone is welcome to hang out in the front courtyard. But since we both work from home, one or both of us are almost alway here, so if you need something you are welcome to call out to us from the front hall, or text/call!

During your stay
I will be here to greet you if possible. I like to meet everyone and hope to get to know you at least a little bit during your stay. I But you will be able to self check-in and check-out if you prefer. I can provide more details about that after you book your stay! I will be your primary contact and always available by phone, text or voice. My husband Tom is on the premises most of the time. He can also answer a question or help with a problem.

I am a long time resident of Jersey City and before then, New York City so I know a lot about both places. Working from home, I'm often around if you'd like to discuss any itineraries you have planned for your visit be it theater, museums, music, restaurants or nature excursions in the area.

Other things to note
The bedroom you will be staying in is on the street side of our home (as is our bedroom). Grand St. is a major street in Jersey City so there is general traffic noise. It is not a truck route, though there is the occasional truck passing by. We welcome guests to come and go at any time.

Neighborhood highlights

We love the Paulus Hook neighborhood. We are five blocks from the Hudson River! The Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan is visible to the east as you stand in front of our house. There are convenient coffee and breakfast places just a couple of blocks away. I highly recommend the Light Horse Tavern, Amelia's, Taqueria, and Sam a.m. (for breakfast), four of many great restaurants within a few blocks of our house.

Practically anything you want is really less than a 15 minute walk away! More excellent restaurants for foodies, specialty grocery stores, bakeries, live music, etc. I'm happy to provide recommendations for any activity or shopping need you may have.
