In the coolest neighborhood in town and with a breathtaking view of Rio's landscape, this private and sunny studio is highly esteemed by foreigner visitors. Glass walls make you feel like in an aquarium floating over clouds.
In the coolest neighborhood in town and with a breathtaking view of Rio's landscape, this private and sunny studio is highly esteemed by foreigner visitors. Glass walls make you feel like in an aquarium floating over clouds. That's understandable, for it's one of the highest living spots in town!

You will be definitely happy in this sacred space.
Equidistant from all points of interest in town. A 10/15 minutes drive or taxi from downtown, the Santos Dumont airport, Lapa, beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, Lagoa and Botanical Garden. Bordering the Tijuca's Forest national park boundaries. What city in the world you can reach the financial center to a little waterfall in 15 minutes by car ;) ?
At 200 meters from the pacified Prazeres slum, with a harmonious relationship with the community. There is the Cultural Center of the town hall, walking from there also departs the graffiti tour, the community invite us to experiment a direct cultural exchange with real and non-touristy Rio de Janeiro.
Three bus routes and taxis on the doorstep. One can easyly go walking to the center of the neighborhood or to Corcovado. A Refuge (hiding place), high but close to everything.
Close (15 minutes by bus) to museums, subway, cultural centers, antique fairs, street fairs, bars and restaurants.
Interaction with Guests
When I'm in town, I love to give attention to my guests, since I am a lover of traveling and this amazing city.
In the historic neighborhood of Santa Teresa with the best street carnival in the city, near the Samba and beer. A neighborhood with the true spirit of the World Cup. Bohemia, games in the streets adorned, bars with intellectual football fans, just in Santa Teresa!
The street reference for Taxis , deliveries and visitors is EQUITATIVA CONDOMINIUM, near CEAT school and the Fire Department of Santa Teresa .
Other Things to Note
The home key is key that we call tetra (a thick key, with four sides, use it with the small dot/ball up!)
The two common keys are for the elevator, a real legend in the Condominium. A rare elevator chute with Swiss technology. It's more like a toy than a lift, have fun! One of the keys opens the door to the elevator at the Condominium square, and the other down on the street (pedestrian entrance).
Preference for couples. Rigorous with visitors staying overnight without previous notice.
Do not make copies of the house keys.
Do not be loud after 10pm. I have a delicate relationship with the downstairs neighbor.
When absent, turn lights and other devices off (the electricity bill might come very expensive if this happens)
Parties are not allowed.
Let us know, before the check out, if any objects were broken or damages.
be happy the maximum time to get.
Beautiful flat in Santa Teresa with unbelievable views on the bay with the Sugar Loaf right in front. Watch the best sunrises in Rio. In the back you look all night to Corcovado from your bed. Perfect if you want to relax in Santa Teresa surrounded by nature, views, monkeys and enjoy silence from a hectic life in Rio! It is a beautiful location - quite a lot of steps, private cable car and walk to get there but definitely worth the exercise.
I would not recommend this place for first time visitors who crave for the beach just blocks away. However, I would highly, highly recommend this place to Rio returners. I always wanted to get the Santa Teresa experience and I loved it!!!! I will definitely consider to come back. Another thing is that you either need time or a car to get there and from there. I was there for work and rented a car which worked out perfectly. If you are there on holidays and have time this is great too; private cable car brings you in front of your door steps.
Giulio is super helpful and kind, and he is there to make your stay enjoyable! He responds immediately to your requests and is doing everything to make the most out of your stay. It is truly an experience to stay there!
Perfect! The view is incredible and a great inspiration, nice interior and Giulio is really helpful and available.
Next time in Rio I will definately stay there again!
To review Giulio as a host is a little bit unfair, because in the week that I stayed at his flat, we already became friends! Giulio is an extremely warm and welcoming Carioca that will make anyone's introduction to Rio an unforgetable experience!
I stayed for 4 weeks in Giulio's loft. It is a really unique place in Rio de Janeiro, with the most incredible view of the city. The sunrise over the ocean and next to the SugarLoaf mountain every morning is an experience. Giulio is a very attentive host and, when is in town, is easy to reach, although I did not have any problems related to the loft. I love Santa Teresa and for me it is the place to be in Rio, but for some people it may seem a little out of the way. However, the public transport is excellent although it may be a little intimidating for some people. The nearest metro station is only 5 US$ and 15min away by taxi if you get scared by Rio's bus drivers. If this is your first visit to Rio, you may want to stay in one of the more visited places, like Copacabana, or Ipanema, but if you want to experience something different, Santa Teresa is a nice alternative. And it is very quiet at night, so it is an excellent place to sleep and rest.
Giulio is a wonderful host. American Airlines cancelled our flight going to Rio. We were not able to go to Rio even the next day because of American Airlines. They could only fly us to Sao Paulo the next day. I was in communications with Giulio and he offered advice on how to get from Sao Paulo to Rio, bus and air options. He also did research on airfare and bus fare for us. We were ready to take the advice from Giulio on taking the bus from Sao Paulo to Rio until the good people from TAM airline in Miami (our connection from Columbus, Ohio) was able to find seats for four of us to fly directly to Rio that evening. All through the ordeal with American Airlines, Giulio was able to provide advice along the way. Once we got to the Studio, Giulio was there to greet us, offering some wonderful fruits and cheese bread. We were amazed by the stunning views of the Studio. We saw the pictures here on airbnb, but you can't appreciate the views until you are personally there to see it yourselves. On one side, you see Christ the Redeemer (the bed and bathroom side). On the other side, living area, you see Sugar Loaf, the city and the ocean. You see the sunrise from there too. We even walked up to the top from the Condos (5 minutes) where there's a little football field. Great views from there too, you can see the bridge and Maracana Stadium from there, which are obstructed by the mountain in the Studio. Giulio was trying to arrange us to play football with the locals but timing just didn't work out. Giulio offered ideas for places to see and things to do, including taking us to some nice areas. The place is very spacious. The place accommodates the four of us very comfortably. Transportation is convenient. We would take either bus 006 or 007 to Santa Teresa, or 507 to Largo do Machado to take the Metro to get to where we need to go. We also took taxis to and from the Studio. We never had any problem with taxi driver not wanting to go there. To return to the Studio, I asked the driver to take us to the Santa Teresa Fire Station just for convenient factor. We sometimes would take a bus to go back and there is a bus stop right in front of the Condos. We tried to walk to the center of Santa Teresa one day. It was just a bit too far for us, but you can walk there in 20-30 minutes in a decent pace. The area is very safe even at night. Internet works fine in the living room area. Everything works fine as described on airbnb. Giulio just installed a water filter in the kitchen faucet. My sons and I were drinking the water from the filter, although my wife got bottled water from the store. On...

I'm Giulio, an authentic Brazilian blood/All in one, son of Indians, blacks, Spanish and Italian people. Ardent lover of Rio, carioca da gema (those born in the city). Naturalist, 41 years. I believe in the Virgin Mary of backpackers :) because I am extremely happy with my many travels around the world. Ever known countries in 3 continents, the most incredible: Iceland, Greece, Italy, Morocco and Venezuela. I really like to provide the sensory side of my city and my house can be an extension of this love I have for the place that I live. Be in the community of airbnb is a vote of confidence in other travelers, because my house is like a temple.
I love to travel, photography, hiking, yoga, glamping (camp in comfort) and contact improvisation dance.
I speak Spanish and an intermediate English.
