In the coolest neighborhood in town and with a breathtaking view of Rio's landscape, this private and sunny studio is highly esteemed by foreigner visitors. Glass walls make you feel like in an aquarium floating over clouds. That's understandable, for it's one of the highest living spots in town!
Landscape wise, there's a yin and a yang: a view to the Corcovado and the peaceful rain forest on one side. Downtown, Pão de Açucar and Guanabara Bay's ocean on the other.
In the historic neighborhood of Santa Teresa with the best street carnival in the city, near the Samba and beer. A neighborhood with the true spirit of the World Cup. Bohemia, games in the streets adorned, bars with intellectual football fans, just in Santa Teresa!
Equidistant from all points of interest in town. A 15 minute drive or taxi from downtown, the Santos Dumont airport, Lapa, beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, Lagoa and Botanical Garden. Bordering the Tijuca's Forest national park boundaries. What city in the world you can reach the financial center to a little waterfall in 10 minutes by car ;) ?
This loft is at a 10 minute drive (taxis available) from downtown, Santos Dumont airport, Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Lagoa and the Botanical Gardens. Plus, it is located right beside Tijuca's Forest National Park.
At 200 meters from the pacified Prazeres slum, with a harmonious relationship with the community. There is the Cultural Center of the town hall, walking from there also departs the graffiti tour, the community invite us to experiment a direct cultural exchange with real and non-touristy Rio de Janeiro.
Silent Loft with 90 square meters, furnished, wireless, sound system, bathtub shower and a toilet seat with the most stunning views to Corcovado and Forest, and a 200 degrees cinema vision to the Bay of Guanabara.
Takes two people comfortably, a wonderful King size double bed and can accommodate two or three in the living room, using futons. With housecleaning service every 7 days* paid separately.
Three bus routes and taxis on the doorstep. One can easyly go walking to the center of the neighborhood or to Corcovado. A Refuge (hiding place), close to everything.
Close (15 minutes by bus) to museums, cultural centers, antique fairs, street fairs, bars and restaurants.
Fresh air, sunny apartment, naturalistic minimal décor, King Size Bed for tall and short people, bedding and bath towels, city tour rio guide open on the table and a number of birds such as toucans, monkeys and greens in the surroundings. Organic garden at the condominium for those who help to plant and take care. In condominium with simple architecture.
When I'm in town, I love to give attention to my guests, since I am a lover of traveling and this amazing city.
You will be definitely happy in this sacred space.
The street reference for Taxis , deliveries and visitors is EQUITATIVA CONDOMINIUM, near CEAT school and the Fire Department of Santa Teresa .
The home key is key that we call tetra (a thick key, with four sides, use it with the small dot/ball up!)
The two common keys are for the elevator, a real legend in the Condominium. A rare elevator chute with Swiss technology. It's more like a toy than a lift, have fun! One of the keys opens the door to the elevator at the Condominium square, and the other down on the street (pedestrian entrance).
Giulio is a wonderful host. American Airlines cancelled our flight going to Rio. We were not able to go to Rio even the next day because of American Airlines. They could only fly us to Sao Paulo the next day. I was in communications with Giulio and he offered advice on how to get from Sao Paulo to Rio, bus and air options. He also did research on airfare and bus fare for us. We were ready to take the advice from Giulio on taking the bus from Sao Paulo to Rio until the good people from TAM airline in Miami (our connection from Columbus, Ohio) was able to find seats for four of us to fly directly to Rio that evening. All through the ordeal with American Airlines, Giulio was able to provide advice along the way. Once we got to the Studio, Giulio was there to greet us, offering some wonderful fruits and cheese bread. We were amazed by the stunning views of the Studio. We saw the pictures here on airbnb, but you can't appreciate the views until you are personally there to see it yourselves. On one side, you see Christ the Redeemer (the bed and bathroom side). On the other side, living area, you see Sugar Loaf, the city and the ocean. You see the sunrise from there too. We even walked up to the top from the Condos (5 minutes) where there's a little football field. Great views from there too, you can see the bridge and Maracana Stadium from there, which are obstructed by the mountain in the Studio. Giulio was trying to arrange us to play football with the locals but timing just didn't work out. Giulio offered ideas for places to see and things to do, including taking us to some nice areas. The place is very spacious. The place accommodates the four of us very comfortably. Transportation is convenient. We would take either bus 006 or 007 to Santa Teresa, or 507 to Largo do Machado to take the Metro to get to where we need to go. We also took taxis to and from the Studio. We never had any problem with taxi driver not wanting to go there. To return to the Studio, I asked the driver to take us to the Santa Teresa Fire Station just for convenient factor. We sometimes would take a bus to go back and there is a bus stop right in front of the Condos. We tried to walk to the center of Santa Teresa one day. It was just a bit too far for us, but you can walk there in 20-30 minutes in a decent pace. The area is very safe even at night. Internet works fine in the living room area. Everything works fine as described on airbnb. Giulio just installed a water filter in the kitchen faucet. My sons and I were drinking the water from the filter, although my wife got bottled water from the store. On...
I stayed at Julio's loft in Rio and loved it. Apartment is just as it appears in the photos. It has everything you need and is clean. There is a caretaker who is handy. The views from the loft are amazing. I loved Santa Theresa and do not regret having to travel to other (tourist) areas. The area is full of character and charm. Taxis are reasonable and public transport is easily accessible from the loft to get you anywhere. It was a challenge to give directions to taxis initially in my limited Portuguese but got over this by directing them to nearby fire station or using the apps Giulio suggested. Taking the "lift" from the road was a bonus as winding streets were a challenge for taxis! I felt safe walking around the area even after dark. Be aware there is no lift up to loft-3 flights to carry lugagge! Giulio is a warm, friendly and helpful host. He is what airbnb is about: a local keen to share local information and welcome travellers to their homes and cities. He went out of his way to ensure I enjoyed my stay, sending info and dispensing advice. I would strongly recommend the loft if you want something special.
The place in Santa Teresa was amazing! The most stunning views in the world, truly. We woke up and went to sleep to a view of the entire city and the mountains. We would love to come back again and spend more time there. Julio was very helpful. Santa Teresa is a charming area with great restaurants. The place itself is a few miles from the main area, so we took taxis or buses to the restaurants. The place was safe, we never felt sketched out in Santa Teresa.
Giulio's wonderful apartment is truly a magical place to stay - one of the best vantage points to see the best of the city: Sugarloaf on one side, Christ the Redeemer on the other. The only danger is that it makes it hard to leave to explore the city as it's such a special place to be in! The bed is big and comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped and it feels like home. The condominium feels very safe and has a security guy, it also has it's own funicular to take you up and down the short but steep journey to the street. Being high up in the hills in Sta Teresa, some taxi drivers refuse to go up, which was very frustrating at times. We discovered the best approach was just to get in and then ask - harder for them to refuse you then! But the apartment is on 3 good local bus routes: two into the centre of Sta Teresa (5 mins) and another takes you down to the Subway at Largo do Marchado (10 mins) These are fine during the day, and we used them at night, although we would get taxis if we could. There is no supermarket with walking distance, but one a short hop away on the bus.
We only wished we had met Giulio sooner. He wasn't there when we arrived, a very lovely friend of his showed us in, but there were some communication difficulties. The information on the listing for the wi-fi hadn't been updated, and Guilio's friend didn't tell us. The router wasn't plugged in and we couldn't get hold of Giulio for more info. We spent quite a few days sorting out SIMs for phones as we did need the internet connection, which was a little frustrating, as it was listed as part of the flat. About 5 days into the reservation we met Giulio who immediately sorted the situation - and was lovely! So a lot of the small issues we had were resolved and he spent a lot of time advising us on what to do/see, where to eat and lots of lovely insight into life in Rio. We appreciate a host can't always be there when guests arrive, but better and clearer communication on arrival would have helped us settle in better. That was the only very slight blight on an otherwise great stay.
I arrived tired, but open to the Rio experience, and the first person i met was Giulio, the owner. We immediately started talking aobut life, experiences and understood that it was a match.
Well, his house embodies the true soul of Rio de Janeiro, planned for simplicity, devoted to edonism, set in the perfect location: Santa Teresa. They say the soul of Rio is in Santa Teresa, see whether you can catch it...
Giulio's house his a really wonderful an privileged house in Rio. You will live like suspended over the city. It's incorrect say postcard. Because its live. Changes infinite times a hours, a day and even a minutes. All around trees and wonderful Tucanos and other species gorgeous to look at... Sitting on your sofa. With Rio all around. If you are a view lover, no other place is so unique.
Giulio is a really caring person, super super willing to do its best to support his guest and friend life.
One of the best I ever met so far
Giulio's house is absolutely stunning!
It's a very special place, the apartment is part of a really nice community that all residents love and cherish.
We stayed there for 10 days, loved the experience, and made a few friends.
The view from the apartment is incredible: over the whole city in one side, and really close to the Christ on the other.
Anyone who has a chance to get to know this particular place in Rio, must count themselves blessed.
