Located in the heart of Williamsburg right above the L train, this unique penthouse has a skylit open architecture and large garden making it brighter, more spacious, and more welcoming than the typical New York 2BR. No doubt you'll love it.

The space

The apartment is atop a 4-story walk-up. The unique A-frame architecture has skylights throughout the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, making it much brighter and more welcoming than the typical New York den. There is a private back porch, large enough to accommodate an outdoor dinner party, with a large grill/smoker, sectional sofa, potted garden, and an unobstructed view of the nearby Manhattan skyline.

While the bedrooms and bathroom are of course private, the common areas all fall within an open architecture, making all of the apartment's most attractive features available from everywhere. Cook dinner in the kitchen while watching a movie on the large projector in the living room. Listen to music from the office stereo while emailing your friends from the porch hammock to tell them about your mind-blowing New York accommodations.

The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one for me and one for you (though I sometimes rent my own room when I travel - I'll let you know prior to booking if this is going to be the case for your stay). Both rooms have 4 large skylights, a full size bed for 1-2 guests (fitted with freshly cleaned sheets and towels), night stands, and a full-sized dresser. You'll find a power strip with an iPod/iPhone charger and EU/UK adapters for all your indispensable travel electronics.

I'm one of those people who thinks that investing in nice things for my kitchen will make me a better cook, and my ignorance is your gain. Help yourself to various luxury brand appliances and cookwares, daily fresh ground espresso, and an arsenal of organic ingredients for making your favorite dish from home, wherever it might be.

Guest access

You'll have access to the entire apartment with the exception of my bedroom. Feel free to use my cookware, toiletries, whatever you need to feel at home. See amenities for more details.

Interaction with guests

Depends totally on your preference. My guest interactions range from not very much at all to so much that I've stayed in touch with and even stayed at the homes of my guests when I've been in their home countries.

Wireless Internet

Please try not to break anything.
Please keep the common areas reasonably clean while you're here and do a once-over before you leave. I'll take care of washing your sheets and towels and cleaning the floor and surfaces of your bedroom.

This place is amazing!! The location is above and beyond - there's a bar next door (which you can't hear from the apartment), a pizza place across the road, and within 5 minutes walking you hit vintage stores, bars and restaurants! The flat itself has a cool interior that makes it quirky and spacious - not to mention the fact you'll see views of Manhattan from the balcony! Also, getting around couldn't be easier with the subway over the road - this really is the perfect place. Daniel and Bláthnaid were lovely hosts, they were so friendly and welcoming - if we come back to the city, we would definitely stay here again! Thanks again guys!

Daniel and Blathnaid were extremely communicative -- answering all my questions, letting me know how I was to get the keys, and making me feel very welcome. The space is comfortable, hip, smells really good, is across the street from the subway, and minutes to Manhattan. It was perfect for my NYC getaway to explore the city.

Response from Daniel:
This was a really dumb calendar oversight on my part and has happened only this once in my 5 years of hosting. I cancelled as soon as I realized I'd double-booked, within a few hours of the reservation being booked. I hope you found something great, Pauline. So sorry again for the inconvenience.

I take pride in my home and love to travel, even if it's more often vicariously through my guests.
