This is one of the nicest vacation rentals we have stayed in! The architecture and gardens are amazing. The house is very well supplied. Carolina, the housekeeper is a gem, and is a fabulous cook. I strongly suggest having her cook, she is wonderful. She also facilitates everything. The house is a little way out of Centro, but is very peaceful. Taxis are easy to get. It is a little convoluted to get there, thank God for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. An ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus. Juan, the houseman is helpful and amiable. PS--Try the owner's own brand of excellent Mezcal.

This is simply a beautiful house in a beautiful part of Mexico. My family and I stayed here for 10 days, and we loved every minute of it. Caro was especially helpful, and really went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. The grounds were beautifully kept, and the neighborhood is near some good restaurants (a great Pozole restaurant is walking distance). We also liked the proximity to a beautiful park and jogging path.

Lu's house is beautiful! The architecture is amazing, the walled-in garden relaxing and the housekeeper Caro is an amazing cook. We had a wonderful stay. The house is very well maintained and clean. The pictures don't even do it justice. Our favorite part was Caro's amazing breakfasts that were different every day. Her cooking was creative and reasonably priced. We highly recommend having her cook for you!!! And I highly recommend Lu's peaceful home for a great stay in Oaxaca.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. It was very roomy, wonderfully decorated and included a large yard. It is perfect for a group or family. The home is located in a really nice residential neighborhood and a $3 or $4 taxi ride is required to get to the central part of town. We were a little worried about not being in the central part of town, but we found it very nice to have a calm and relaxing place to be at after spending time in the busy town. But the very best part of our stay was Caro and Juan. Juan is the guard and Caro takes care of everything. For a small fee, she can do grocery shopping, cooking and basically take care of everything you need. She's so kind and knowledgable and a fabulous cook. She went out of her way to buy us chilies and show us how to make the best salsa and she even invited us to another town to visit the beautiful home and business of one of her friends (and experience we were all grateful for). We mainly ate in town, but we had some of her delicious breakfasts. She is truly wonderful and enhanced our stay so much! I would highly recommend this beautiful home and the wonderful caretakers.

If you come to Oaxaca with a peaceful heart and a happy soul your stay at this property will exceed your expectations in every regard – it is truly A Happy House to Fall in Love With. We travelled to Oaxaca primarily for business; to purchase local goods for our store in Los Angeles, however our short stay at Lu’s villa was truly a great pleasure. Before our trip began, our host, Lu was accommodating in every way, working with us on everything from transportation to providing a cook and any information we needed to make our trip a success. Upon arrival at the property, we found the house to be a true gem – even better than the photos online. It is a very lovely custom villa, with fantastic woodwork and interesting architecture, all surrounded by beautiful private gardens and pathways. We felt safe and sound and pampered throughout our stay. On top of all of this, we were blessed with the service of Carolina, who not only cooked for us but seemed to know every top merchant in town and personally facilitated numerous successful connections for our business, as well as coming through on a fantastic suggestion for dinner out. In Carolina we left behind a wonderful new friend, with Lu’s villa we found our go-to destination for future trips to lovely Oaxaca.

The most beautiful architecture and grounds - each room of the home is lovely. Very secure garden setting. The care taking staff, especially Caro goes out of her way to help with any comfort needed.

The house and grounds are stunning--previous reviewers are right that the pictures don't do the place justice. High ceilings and Spanish-colonial-inspired architectural details make everything feel quite grand. The neighborhood is beautiful and safe, and we appreciated having a little distance from the awesome but distinctly touristy center of town. Even though cabs are required to get into the center of town (US$3-4 one way at the time of our stay), there are essential services within very easy walking distance of the house, including a wonderful park for kids and a slew of friendly neighborhood groceries, some of which offer handmade tortillas, fresh pan dulce, etc. We stayed at this house with a 6- and a 2-year-old, and I can't emphasize enough what a great space it is for kids (the magical yard in particular). Only one note of caution: the staircase has gaps between the stairs and an area where it would be possible for a young child to take a very nasty fall onto the tiled floor half a story below. Our younger child is almost 3, so we were reasonably confident in his ability to keep himself safe, but it would have been quite stressful staying here with a crawler or younger toddler. We did have a minor issue early in our stay, and Lu responded to our request for help on this website within a few hours--despite the fact that she was in South Asia at the time! Finally, we are NOT Spanish speakers (the best Spanish speaker in our family speaks about as well as a 12-year-old who has just completed the first year of middle school Spanish), and we were fine staying here even though the staff doesn't speak English. We've promised our children we'll come back to Oaxaca and this lovely house--that's how much we enjoyed our stay.
