A lovely spacious home only 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Our spacious room includes a comfortable double bed with antique furnishings. The large bay window gives spectacular views over the river while situated in a quiet cul-de-sac.
Roomy Victorian home, 10 minutes walk from the city centre. So easy to walk around Cork and my house has a terrific view down over the centre

Interaction with Guests
We will interact with our guests as much as they would like. Yes, we will be at the house during visits by guests. l also like to chat with guests and help discuss sightseeing, restaurants and good pubs to visit!! We also make a delicious breakfast with quality ingredients, great fruit , coffee, tea, juice , bread and free range eggs .
Our neighbourhood has a village feel although only minutes from the city centre. In the area there are some great pubs such as the landmark Henchys Pub. Also there is a wine bar, a delicatessen, a chemist, post office, a butcher and a Chinese restaurant. Most of the houses in our area are Victorian or Edwardian and accordingly are listed as an Area of Special Conservation.
Only 5 minutes from our house, there is a bus stop which takes you into the city centre if you do not want to walk the short distance! There is also a train station 10 minutes away which takes you to areas such a Cobh and Midleton, and has connections nationwide. One can get from the airport to our home by bus to the city centre or a taxi which would cost between 15 and 20 euro. Off street parking is also available at our home.

Fiona's home is historic and lovely. We had a beautiful room on the top floor with lovely views. The room is very spacious which allowed us to spread out. Fiona was very helpfull pointing out various places for us to go on a Saturday night. We had a lovely breakfast and we chated for a long time before hitting the road. We highly recommend Fiona's AirBnB!!! We will definately request Fiona's house next time we are in Cork.
Fiona was welcoming on arrival and gave us helpful tips on where to eat in Cork. The room itself was slightly cold but the central heating was on so perhaps it was because its a large room. The bed was comfortable. The room had plenty of space, mirrors & light to get ready for an evening out.
Fiona offered us some wine glasses for the wine we had brought which was a nice gesture.
Breakfast was cereal, bread & homemade jams. It was pretty basic but the jams were very nice.
All in all, Fiona was a nice host & I would recommend her accommodation to others.
I will start with the positives: large room, clean, very close to cork city center. Fiona and her family are lovely and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Fiona served us a very generous breakfast.
Negatives: Fiona did not get in touch with us in advance to let us know she would be on a plane that day and would need us to check in at 4pm. I am to blame as well for not communicating in advance. I was trying to contact her in the morning and did not get an answer until the afternoon. My husband and I were exhausted just having traveled from New York to Dublin and driving directly to Cork with our 1 year old. So it wasn't fun having to entertain ourselves until 4pm.
My last negative is that the room was quite cold and we have a baby so we requested a space heater which was given to us immediately. During the middle of the night at some point it was removed from our room while we were sleeping because when I woke up at 5am shivering it wasn't there. Fiona explained the next morning that the noise from the heater was keeping her up and she removed it. This made me extremely uncomfortable that someone was in my room while my family was sleeping without me knowing. I would not have minded her knocking and letting us know but waking up and not finding it there and not knowing what happened really freaked me out.
We had a lovely stay. The house was really beautiful and near to the city centre and Fiona was very kind. She also gave us useful suggestions about Cork. Moreover the breakfast was perfect: Fiona's homemade jams were very good! Everything was perfect and We really didn't want to leave!
It was our very first airbnb experience: Fiona was a really welcoming and helpful host to both my partner and myself not just during our stay but also before and after: e.g. she provided instructions on how to get there over phone and let us park our rental car in the driveway for the rest of the day after we had "checked out". The house is very big and located in a quiet neighborhood (Military Hills) at 12 minutes walking from the city center of Cork. The double room is enormous and fully equipped (big bed with electric blanket, sofa, armchairs, wardrobe, bookshelves, airdryer). The bathroom is not ensuite, but tidy and located on the same floor: we did not have to share it as no other guests were staying at Fiona's on that date. The breakfast was served and attended by Fiona at the time we had agreed: besides tea/coffee, toasts, homemade jams, poached (duck!) eggs and cereals, we had a pleasant conversation with her, which is something we appreciated as part of the airbnb philosophy.
We had a nice, quiet and relaxed stay in this spacious room in a beautiful house. Thank you for your hospitality Fiona!
Everything was good for this trip. Fiona and her son Owen were helpful. The room at the top floor was comfortable and fabulous. Location is good and close to the city. Good experience overall.

I am a university graduate with a diverse range of interests. I love taking exercise particularly walking, gym classes and tennis. I am a keen cook with about 200 hundred cookbooks at this stage! I am a very sociable person with thankfully plenty of friends. One of my favourite things to have people over for supper with plenty of conversation, music and wine! I live with my son and daughter who have grown to enjoy meeting guests through Airbnb since we had our first guests in June 2014.
