We are situated in the beautiful village of Lanquais, famous for it's xv century château overlooking the picturesque lake which includes a man-made beech. Swimming is available during the peak season. The small village shop is open long hours and offers a wide range of stock, a la Poste open's most afternoons for business. The very popular restaurant "Auberge des Marroniers" opens at lunch times and in the evenings, however it does get extremely busy during the summer months of July and August, so I would suggest booking to avoid disappointment. All of these amenities and just a short walk away.
The GR6 one of France's many long distance footpaths passes through Lanquais, it joins up with local paths which are well sign - posted.
The Dordogne River flows just 3 km from us, flowing through local tourist spots Lalinde, Mauzac, Tremolat and Bergerac. A day canoeing down the river is very popular with all ages, although a drive of 45 km is recommend to reach a good starting point.
Bergerac Airport is 18km west of Lanquais. Lalinde train station is just 6.5km east. Lalinde is our nearest town where you will find banks ATM, supermarket, petrol station, DIY shop cafés and restaurants. Every Thursday an open market fills the square, providing the atmosphere a of a typical local village, not to be missed during the summer months.
Bergerac town centre is just a 20 minute drive away. The region rich in vineyards and fortified ‘bastide’ towns, offers a warm welcome, an extraordinary range of natural and historical heritage sites; fabulous, protected countryside; the beauty of the Dordogne River; the renowned gastronomy and wines of the Périgord; an active cultural life and numerous leisure and sporting activities.
I am also a qualified and registered massage therapist, maybe you would like to indulge yourself to an extra bit of pampering during your stay, bookings are available, for more information visit my (email hidden)

This house is in the centrum of Perigord and it is very easy to visit all small towns around the house. It is a very nice house and very confortable.
Christine was there opening the gates to greet us from the moment we pulled up outside her wonderful B&B. We were treated like one of the family and were sad to leave. My travelling companian Lee had a sore back and neck from driving and after one of Christine's massages, Lee was better than ever. Our beds, rooms, kitchen and bathroom were all first class. Christine recommended great places to visit in the area and also took us into the local market at Miramont and gave us some tips on good vegetable and fruit stalls. Christine gave us a fabulous breakfast of porridge, fresh fruit, muesli, fruit juice, coffee, scrambled eggs and toast and we went away absolutely full. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. Christine also gave us bananas and bread to take on our travels, We even spent a wonderful evening together over a wine. Although we didn't meet her husband Alan, we heard all about his travels and felt we knew him. We met their cats who are all very friendly, and I loved their chooks. If you ever get to this part of France you will never find a better place to stay than at Christine's B&B in Lanquis. We will certainly recommend it to our friends and would definitely stay again. Thank you so much for making our holiday so memorable. Teresa & Lee, New Zealand.
I moved to France with my family in 2006, after a very rewarding 30 year career in nursing, I now run my own Massage Business along side my charity work. Two years ago I took on the role of Membership Secretary for Association Phoenix, an animal charity that rescues, cares and re-homes abandoned animals here in the south west of France.
I love the outdoor life and I'm always up for a new fundraising challenge,
either walking or cycling. I enjoy swimming and gardening and share a passion for classic cars with my husband. My family play an important part of my happy life.
