About this listing
Cozy Loft in North Williamsburg/Greenpoint area with amazing views of lower Manhattan and the city. Quick access to the G/Nassau stop and Bedford/L stop. Washer/Dryer are on the same floor, kitchen is fully useable. The roof access is the best.
This is one bedroom in a 3 bedroom loft. 2 people can easily fit in the bed, but we do have a couple comfy couches if you're not a couple. The building was converted from an industrial building and the ceilings are high and the windows let in a lot of light. From the window, you have that same view as the roof, just down a couple floors.
Interaction with Guests
I live with one other French guy. We are both very busy with work and other projects, so you will likely not run into us too much. I would love to eat/grab a drink with whomever I'm hosting, but please understand that I will likely not have much time to hang out and I expect whoever staying to have their own plans and things to do while they are in the city.
Everything. Literally everything. It was even ranked #1 in the nation for young people by Business Insider.
It's quiet, it's cool, it's hip (yet not pretentious), it's a getaway from the craziness of Manhattan, it's still convenient and right in the thick of things, and it has the best views in the city. I honestly think Greenpoint is NYC's best kept secret, so let's try to keep it on the down low. But do enjoy it while you're here.
The Bedford/L stop is about a 10 minute hike away. The Nassau/G stop is a few blocks away. The East River Ferry stops pretty close to us as well, and there are always taxis driving by either on our street or a couple other ones about a block away each.
Other Things to Note
Washer/dryer card available to use
Don't bring other people over. The roof is for you to enjoy, not anybody else you might know who lives or is staying in the city as well. Otherwise, enjoy.
We had a great time at Justins place. He's a really nice guy and showed us his favorite places in NY which was really great. The room we slept in is cozy and might be a bit too small for people who are not that tight with each other. Although the place was not the cleanest we felt comfortable and enjoyed many moments at the rooftop with it's incredible view. Thanks for this experience and time we had together!
Great location, few minutes walking from the Williamsburg's hotspots and two subway stations from Manhattan, which made possible a full NYC experience. Justin was kind and helpful
I had a really nice stay with Justin, he & his roommate are laid-back music-friendly people who were friendly & helpful. Their building has a great vibe & one of the best skyline views around.
The place was nice and comfortable and the room was cozy and very spacious even for two. The neighborhood was amazing and incredible safe, and that's actually one the things I loved the most, because I used to walk my way home very late at night (like 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning) from the subway, which was super close btw, like a 10' walking, but since you can find a lot of restaurants, bars and stores, I enjoyed every single walk. Justin was super easy going, nice to talk to and wouldn't mind telling me where to go.
The listing description was accurate. The roof was awesome. The kitchen was nice. The room was nice, clean, bed was comfortable and large. Things went smoothly with the host, Justin was very responsive.
Nice People, small room But Great view of Manhattan, rooftop, good Spot in williamsburg. We had a good stay.
Justin was friendly and relaxed, although I didn't see him that much throughout the week. The room was fine and apartment was tidy. Good access to subway, local shops and bars. The street outside was a little noisy at times due to early morning workers so ear plugs were necessary for sleeping past 6am!
Summary: apartment was as expected, good location, friendly host
About the Host, Justin
Hey there, I'm from Hawaii originally, grew up in southern California, currently living/working here in NYC. I love traveling myself - some favorite locales include Greece, Honduras, and Barcelona, where I studied abroad for a year.
In addition to traveling, I also really enjoy music, running/biking/exercise in general, soccer, and super spicy food. Music wise my tastes are everywhere, but favorites include Soul/Motown, 80's Hair Metal, Electronic/Deep House, and Impressionist/Classical. I love running in the city - If you want to go for a jog, I'd recommend heading down along the East River and across the Williamsburg Bridge for an amazing run, esp. at sunset. My soccer teams are FC Barcelona, LA Galaxy, and of course Team USA 2014. And as for spicy food.. The spicier the better. I even won a spicy food eating competition once.
