CHARM! Full of nostalgia, this post WWII boom home is clean and bright, on a brick avenue of moss draped FL pine. LOCATION! 5 min. drive to white sand beaches, parks, lakes, bike trails, shopping, and restaurants; 10 min. to St Pete's artsy downtown.
The home's history: At the end of WW II, my newly married parents bought this home brand new. During the War, Dad was an infantry soldier and medic in the Pacific, and Mom was studying to be a cadet nurse. When they met at war's end, they both claimed it was mutual love at 1st sight, and married 10 weeks later. Together over the years they creatively decorated, enlarged, and improved the house, ran their own small business downtown, raised my brother and I, retired, traveled, always living in their original honeymoon home. There are touches from the '40s through the '90s throughout, which gives the place a charming and homey feel.
Guests have the entire house, pool and deck with gas grill, side patio, yard, and driveway to themselves.

Paula was there for us before our holiday started with emails offering information and help should we need it. She met us with a very warm welcome at the house. We were given a tour of the house which included its history and its quirks! The house was a great place to stay, it had everything we needed and more. The local area was lovely, from the christmas decorations to seeing a lady leading geese over to the lake! We drove to beautiful beaches in five or ten minutes, great shopping nearby. All in all a great house in a great location.
I am a little leery about telling everyone about Paula and her house because it may be booked when we want it! A little piece of heaven for us. Paula waited for us on the front porch and greeted us warmly. She gave us a tour of her beloved family home and showed us the quirks and treasures. It is delightfully decorated with mid century modern decor and spotlessly clean. I thoroughly enjoyed my morning coffee beside the pool everyday. The bedrooms and bathrooms are quite comfortable and the main living area is terrific for visiting or playing cards. The laundry room was very helpful and one of the things I most appreciate on a long vacation. The home is close to lots of restaurants and shopping. Not far from the great beaches of ST. Pete. It is everything Paula says it is and I fell in love with her and the house.
Es war wunderschön bei Paula. Das Haus hatte alles, was man braucht.
Paula, thank you so much. Everything was perfect. The house so nice, everything there, what I needed. Thank you for your informations, before I arrived. I felt me so good and I have so wonderful memories from you, your mom, the house and Florida. Hope, we will see us again.
When we arrived Paula greeted us at her doorstep and gave us a little tour of her property, giving us tips on the neighborhood (incl beaches / grocery stores etc). She even lent us a DVD for our kids about a dolphin story that was filmed in the neighborhood, very sweet of her and the kids enjoyed it! It was also good to know she lives next-door in case of any mishap (luckily enough we had none during our stay). The house had all amenities Paula has mentioned in the profile, the pool is a great place to relax after a lovely day at the beach…Ideally a BBQ would be a wonderful addition to the existing amenities….The house has a story and you can feel it when you see all different types of artwork/furnitures styles mixing inside - it would be a great decor for a movie!! Overall the house is spacious and comfortable, and the owner very lovely! Would defo recommend it!
Everything about our stay at Paula's home was perfect. Paula met us at the house and gave us all of the pertinent information about the house as well as some history of the house as well as some of the pieces of furniture. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting St Petersburg. Close to shopping, restaurants and the beach. My husband and father-in-law took in some baseball games while my sister-in-law and I hung out in the pool! We love this place!
Paula is a really nice host. The house had everything that I needed. I love the swimming pool. It is clean and big. The location of house is very quiet. I definitely stay again at Paula's place if I have chance to go to St. Petersburg.
The house is simply amazing and there is everything you need.
The swimming pool big and beautiful, the location gorgeous and quiet
Paula is a great person always kind and helpful.
So one of my best family's holiday
I retired from St. Petersburg Police after serving 27 years, starting in the early's 1970s, when female patrol officers were just being allowed to work on the streets.
I raised 2 wonderful daughters and now have 5 cool grandkids (3 of them teens).
My hobby in my younger years was sky diving and I still occasionally scuba dive.
Travel is a passion of mine, so I have been to all 7 Continents and all 50 United States. I'm also interested in archaeology and sometimes volunteer on digs at different locales.
Offering this vacation rental to travelers is an opportunity to serve as host for folks who share that travel passion. I live in the house right next door, so I'm readily available to help guests with any questions or problems that might arise.
My 96 year old mom still owns the home and she is proud to offer it to others as a comfortable home away from their home. She now lives in a lovely assisted living facility nearby and will use funds from the rental to help pay for her care.
