The Space

The ad says East Congress but this is most definitely South Congress...
Large RV (26' 5th wheel yr. 2000 w/slide out). Unique high ceiling and hardwood floor. Usual amenities- fully-equipped kitchen, AC, heat, etc. plus Queen memory foam bed with all cotton sheets and down filled comforter. Couch folds down to be an extra bed as does the dining table area. Separate entrance and private flagstone patio/bamboo garden w/ a chiminia, table and chairs, and an out-door shower (indoor shower too).
Wood fired Gypsy style sauna and a creek-side picnic/campground area available. I have 2 acres on a secret and secluded little street 5 miles due South of the capitol of TX and even closer (2.5) to the very hip SoCo area (Continental Club, Jo's Coffee, Guero's Taco Bar, Jovitas and lots more).
I have 3 cats, 7 sweet mini goats, 11 chickens and a big organic garden here at my funky little 'farmette' right on Williamson Creek and next to a huge wooded greenbelt with a quiet and unused nature trail. Lots of remodeling and cleanup chaos here right now but plenty of pretty and secluded nature as well. I also host a very popular and large community PotLuck party on the 2nd Wednesday of every month -campfires, food, music, friends. Big Fun!
Short walk to bus stop and historic Hills Cafe and Austin Bergstrom Airport is 9 easy highway miles away. NO SMOKING INSIDE OR OUT FOR MANY REASONS!

  • Awesome space. Everyone on the property was very helpful and friendly. The RV was clean and its is definitely spacious. The comfy. The outdoor shower was AMAZING and very private. There were even snacks and a couple of beers in the fridge for us :)

  • What an amazing place to stay! Jim was a great host, the RV was fantastic and cozy, and the land it was on was just great! I wish the weather had been a little better to try out the outdoor shower, but we'll just make sure to try it next time we stay here. We'd definitely recommend the RV - it's a perfect expression of the independent and quirky spirit spirit of Austin. Loved it, and can't wait to come back. Thanks for everything, Jim!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jim O' s playground, only in Austin would you be able to be in "the city" and have chickens, cats and goats in the yard!
We loved the outdoor shower, although it was too cold the first two mornings, even for us Minnesotans.
Jim was an excellent host, available if we had questions, and gave music and food rec. if asked.
Highly recommend this for a truly " Austin" experience!

  • Our stay with Jim O' was top on our U.S experiences. He was a thoughtful and interesting host who respected our privacy at the same time as welcoming us into his community with beers round an open fire. We felt right at home and could have stayed much longer-meeting the different characters who visited and helping rebuild from the flood damage.

    - The RV was a private, cosy, sunny little home with all you needed for a happy stay
    - The linen, towels and RV were clean and simple
    - Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and basic cooking ingredients plus Jim O's kind extras (eggs, homemade Chai, grapes, juices, coffee, yogurt, milk, cereal)
    - TV and selection of DVDs
    - Outdoor shower (far superior to the indoor one)
    - Town was just a 10min drive away or a bus stop was right by the site

  • Jim accommodated us when we made a reservation on Christmas Eve for Christmas Day, which was awesome! We also had a great time rambling through the woods on the property. Would definitely recommend.

  • We had a great time in the trailer and we could not of asked for more. It's a really neat spot and I do believe we'll be back. Cheers y'all!

  • My stay at Jim O's place count haven't been better. My boyfriend and I stayed in austin over the weekend and my only regret is that I couldn't spend more time at the rv, exploring the lands and visiting with JIm O. Can't wait to be back.

  • As far as I'm concerned, there's nowhere else to stay in Austin.

Jim O' has set this RV up with its own private patio area that includes a beautiful outdoor shower, and he keeps the kitchen stocked with all kinds of unexpected extras, from his own chickens' eggs to sugar cane Coca-Colas. (Make sure you check the cabinets and shelves as well for movies and board games.)

The interior of the RV is surprisingly roomy, and everything is clean and comfortable and well-kept.

My only regret from my stay is not having the time to explore the creek and wilderness, feed the goats, and visit more with Jim O'. I'll just have to come back.

  • Great spot! I'd love to stay again some time. I guess this might be what some people call "glamping". The RV is clean and comfortable, in a cool tucked away spot in South Austin. It's only a 10 minute drive to the heart of town but it's quiet and rustic like you're staying out in the sticks. Outdoor shower in the bamboo, nature trail, goats, chickens, snacks, friendly people! Jim is a genuinely cool guy, and a great host.

  • My daughter and I had a great weekend stay at Jim's. Super location, close to everything in town --- but feels like you are miles outside of the city. We walked through the wildflowers along the nature trails, took photos of the creek, and enjoyed visiting with the cats and goats each day.

The stocked fridge was a nice touch, and the outdoor shower was great for washing off during a hot Texas day. It was also nice to have fresh eggs for breakfast, and access to Fran's vegetable garden. Looking forward to using the campfire area and spending more time lounging next visit. We were on the go a lot this time.

funky laid back South Austin alternative lifestyle. Developing my in town 2 acre 'farmette' on the creek. I've been in the food/catering biz for many years and enjoy people and gatherings. Hope to see you at one of our 2nd Wednesday community PotLuck parties!
