The Space

The ad says East Congress but this is most definitely South Congress...
Large RV (26' 5th wheel yr. 2000 w/slide out). Unique high ceiling and hardwood floor. Usual amenities- fully-equipped kitchen, AC, heat, etc. plus Queen memory foam bed with all cotton sheets and down filled comforter. Couch folds down to be an extra bed as does the dining table area. Separate entrance and private flagstone patio/bamboo garden w/ a chiminia, table and chairs, and an out-door shower (indoor shower too).
Wood fired Gypsy style sauna and a creek-side picnic/campground area available. I have 2 acres on a secret and secluded little street 5 miles due South of the capitol of TX and even closer (2.5) to the very hip SoCo area (Continental Club, Jo's Coffee, Guero's Taco Bar, Jovitas and lots more).
I have 3 cats, 7 sweet mini goats, 11 chickens and a big organic garden here at my funky little 'farmette' right on Williamson Creek and next to a huge wooded greenbelt with a quiet and unused nature trail. Lots of remodeling and cleanup chaos here right now but plenty of pretty and secluded nature as well. I also host a very popular and large community PotLuck party on the 2nd Wednesday of every month -campfires, food, music, friends. Big Fun!
Short walk to bus stop and historic Hills Cafe and Austin Bergstrom Airport is 9 easy highway miles away. NO SMOKING INSIDE OR OUT FOR MANY REASONS!

  • What an amazing place to stay! Jim was a great host, the RV was fantastic and cozy, and the land it was on was just great! I wish the weather had been a little better to try out the outdoor shower, but we'll just make sure to try it next time we stay here. We'd definitely recommend the RV - it's a perfect expression of the independent and quirky spirit spirit of Austin. Loved it, and can't wait to come back. Thanks for everything, Jim!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jim O' s playground, only in Austin would you be able to be in "the city" and have chickens, cats and goats in the yard!
We loved the outdoor shower, although it was too cold the first two mornings, even for us Minnesotans.
Jim was an excellent host, available if we had questions, and gave music and food rec. if asked.
Highly recommend this for a truly " Austin" experience!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jim O's RV. We loved being outside of the city, but also SO close. Jim really did think of everything to ensure we were provided for, from shampoo to coffee, to extra towels and even old VHS movies. We watched "My Cousin Vinny" and it was a nostalgic blast to the past. The outdoor shower was my favorite part, nothing like bathing in the sun surrounded by bamboo. We even extended our stay an extra night because we were so comfortable and enjoying our time in Austin so much. Great and colorful Austin characters on the property, and a lovely place to be. Thanks Jim! See you next time.

  • This was my first airbnb experience, and I can't say enough good things! The RV was extremely cozy and warm. Friday night I ended up just hanging out there and reading because it was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. Jim is a gracious host, and fills the fridge up with everything you could need. The property is also lovely; I enjoyed walking the trails (plus, there are goats). You'd never know you are right off of South Congress just a few minutes from 71. Highly recommended and affordable!

  • -very very close to the city, but far enough away to get away from all the noise
-place was cute and quaint, very private
    -a little dusty
-the sauna was nice and it came with eucalyptus oil, you get to start your own fire in an old fashioned stove
-loved feeding the horses, they like apples
-Jim was very nice and answered all of our questions over the phone since he wasn't there for most of the weekend

  • I stayed two nights at Jim's RV. It was a very comfy stay, Jim seems to have thought of every last detail that would make it a great stay for people. Also the surroundings are quite fascinating. I hadn't been on a green belt so I went for a little walk along it, which was a good experience even though the mosquito season made it a slightly harsh trek!

  • My stay at Jim's RV was awesome! Very secluded and comfortable. The bed is really comfy too. Jim had the RV stocked with food and supplies for everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying there to anyone :-)

  • Everything was great! Jim is a really nice guy, the place was perfect for what I was looking for. Would go back in a heartbeat. The snacks were a very nice surprise, thanks for that.
Thanks Jim hope to see you again.

  • My girlfriend and I, between leases, needed a place to stay for 10 days. When we found Jim, we didn’t know what to expect--neither of us had ever spent the night in an RV.

Jim “The Foodslinger” O’Brian was more than accommodating. He made us feel right at home: stocked the refrigerator with food, the medicine cabinet with toiletries, and the drawers with fresh linens. That Memory Foam was the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. My girlfriend said she couldn’t remember the last time she woke up with no back pain. The outdoor shower made me never want to bathe indoors again. Every time we opened a cabinet, there was more evidence of Jim’s thoughtfulness.

Truly a luxurious stay. We couldn’t be more satisfied.

  • We had a great time in Jim's RV! It is an amazing location, really close to all the action on South Congress and downtown. The kids loved all the animals and "Cowboy" who gave them a pony ride.
Would have loved to stay longer at the potluck campfire, next time we'll bring a sitter for the kids.
Thanks to Jim for the treats in the fridge. The RV was clean and the AC was powerful. Great place to stay!
