Spanish Hacienda mile from downtown

House - Private room · E 13th St, Austin, TX 78702, United States

The Space

Private, separately keyed entrance, to bedroom addition with its own master bath. It also has its own thermostat control. There is nothing above the addition and my bedroom is upstairs in the far corner of the house. Also the house is primarily constructed out of concrete blocks, so sounds don't travel through the house. You will feel like you have your very own bungalow.

In the Swedish Hill neighborhood, only a mile from downtown and the University of Texas campus which you can walk to or take a cab (~$7). There is even a bus stop two blocks away. Aside from all of the downtown nightlife, there are several restaurants (including trailers which are the current hot thing in Austin) within a few blocks. A list of nearby restaurants are included in the room.

Free wireless internet is available. There is plenty of street parking. Access to a laundry room and refrigerator can be arranged in advance. Access to the kitchen can be discussed for longer term stays. There is an electric kettle in the room.

Come enjoy yourself near enough to the action but just beyond the craziness so that you can relax.

  • We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Austin at Chris's Hacienda. The room was clean and very private which allowed us to come and go as freely as we wished! The location was perfect for our many visits to downtown and 6th st and could easily be reached by walking. Chris was a great host and easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend his place for anyone visiting the city.

  • The hacienda was exactly as described. The blue dahlia was a 10 min walk and probably one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in a while. The chicken salad and bread pudding were out of this world. I had events at the Sheraton Austin capital and it was a 12 min walk. The capital just a few more. It's an easy 20 min walk to 6th street. I did it 4 nights in a row with no issues. The wifi is super fast, bed more comfortable than mine, amazing AC, and great hot water and whole place was clean. What was great is chris responded nearly instantly when communicating. A great place to stay!

  • We stayed in the Spanish Hacienda for 2 nights this March. We found it to be a great place to crash after a long day of driving, and again after a long day of exploring Austin. This place was clean, smelled good, and had an awesome shower. We also made use of the maps/recommendation drawer that Chris has compiled. Another highlight was the private entrance, which made coming and going very simple. We'd definitely recommend it!

  • I enjoyed my stay here. The bed was comfortable, room was clean and you get your own private entrance to come and go as you please. Location is literally 5 minutes (driving time) away from downtown and you have an endless amount of shops in the area to pick from. Chris makes you feel welcome and sets up everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

  • Pos: Clean room. Big, comfortable bed. Very quiet/private.

Neg: A little far from downtown Austin/the University.

  • Wonderful place to stay in Austin! It's private (own keyed entrance) and very central to all Austin has to offer. Easy bike ride to both downtown and east austin area. Right near Franklin Barbecue. Would definitely recommend booking this place if you intend to spend all your time exploring Austin, and just simply need a home base for the evening. Bed was comfortable, room and bathroom were clean, and very quiet nights. While we didn't get a chance to meet Chris in person (too much to do!) he was very friendly and attentive through the Airbnb message system. Highly recommend the Spanish Hacienda!

  • A clean, conveniently located room with a separate entrance just a mile and a half from downtown. Lots of towels, toiletries and space to relax. I only met Chris once briefly and he was perfectly friendly and attentive via text. Only caveats are the one window is blocked by a carport so you don't get much natural light or air if you want it, and some sound travels through the walls. Otherwise a very pleasant stay!

  • Chris' place was great! We would definitely stay here again. Very clean and super comfy bed!!

    February 2014
  • My colleague and I rented Chris' place for a conference we were attending in February. We both really enjoyed our experience and loved Chris' place. The space was exactly as described, clean, comfortable and in a great location. It is only a short walk (or very inexpensive cab ride) to the the Capitol and downtown, E 6th St and lots of other great amenities. It is also conveniently located near major bus routes. We met Chris only very briefly but he was extremely friendly. Chris gives you your privacy so you really do feel like you're staying in your own private hotel. That being said, Chris' communication was always quick and extremely helpful.

If I find myself travelling to Austin again in the near future, I will certainly be looking to see if this place is available again. My experience sold me on the idea that Airbnb > hotels.
