A charming 19th century winemaker's house with private garden, offering modern comfort and rustic charm by the centre of Nissan-lez-Enserune, a popular Languedoc village surrounded by vineyards, beaches, Roman ruins, castles and lots of family fun.
La Vigne de Villiers is a newly-renovated 19th century winemaker's house in the medieval village of Nissan-lez-Enserune, offering modern comfort with rustic charm for 8 guests. The spacious home of 180 m2 benefits from a 50 m2 open plan living space and a connected ground floor studio of 40 m2, both opening on to a 200 m2 garden. The house is ideally located on a quiet road just a stone's throw from the village centre where guests can buy local food and wine throughout the week.
With beaches, vineyards, canals and Roman ruins surrounding the village, you have everything you need for a perfect holiday stay, whatever pace of vacation you are looking for. Within a short drive, a number of golf courses, water parks, karting and other fun family activities are easily accessible; and within an hour, historical centres such as Béziers, Narbonne and the fortified city of Carcassonne enchant guests with the local Cathar history.
For some, the village market which runs 3 times a week, the wine tasting at France's oldest wine cooperative and the walks to the local windmills for breathtaking views out to sea will be perfect, for others a day trip to Barcelona might be more suited. At the right time of year, guests can even enjoy the ski slopes of the Pyrenees.
With numerous airports, a railway line from Paris to Barcelona and main car routes nearby, Nissan is the perfect base for an extended stay in the beautiful Languedoc region.
We are contactable for all questions at all times but we will not be present at the house for your arrival or during the stay. There are arrangements in place for your access to the house.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will have the entire house to themselves and an emergency contact number in case of any questions.
Nissan-Lez-Ensérune is a pre-medieval Languedoc village situated between the historical centres of Béziers and Narbonne, surrounded by vineyards on the edge of Cathar country. It has its own restaurants, shops and a supermarket, and a traditional market 3 times a week, and beautiful walks through the vineyards and medieval windmills. Sheltered by hills and refreshed by a breeze, Nissan enjoys a very particular micro climate which has all the ingredients for both a perfect summer family holiday and a mild winter family Christmas.
Visit the old town of Beziers with its boutiques, restaurants and historical Cathedral towering over the surrounding vineyards, or head to the Sunday market at Narbonne to choose not only your food but also your chef for freshly cooked specialities. Also within 20 minutes are numerous olive farms, wineries (Nissan's own co-operative is the oldest in France, dating from 1901), and canal boat hire at Colombiers to cruise on the Canal du Midi.
Within an hour of Nissan, head to Sète for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants, famous canals and Venetian buildings, drive north into the mountains to taste the wine from the St Chinian AOC vineyards, explore the antique markets of Pezenas or crusade into the fortified city of Carcassonne, a stronghold of the Cathar movement rich with history. For the even more adventurous, the Spanish border is only an hour and a half away.
The sandy beaches in the vicinity cater to all requirements. Within 15 minutes are Valras Plage, a beach resort providing fun for all the family, and both Vendres and Fleury which are rather untouched beaches, and a further 15 minutes away is Cap d'Agde, which provides a more natural beach experience. Also worth visiting are Sérignan beach, St Pierre la Mer and Gruissan.
The village also provides a number of activities, such as horse riding, tennis, children's playground, rugby matches (during the season), and doctors, dentists and beauticians are all located within 100 metres of the house.
Public transport is available but not regular, and therefore a car is recommended.

This house is a dream come true for us, and one which we would like to share with you after we fell in love with the region during a holiday in the region ourselves.
We expect our guests to enjoy their stay in this wonderful part of France, and to treat and care for the home as if it were their own. However, we would like to clearly state that we do not allow pets or smoking inside the house.
Also, we kindly ask that dishes are cleaned (dishwasher tablets provided), the barbecue grill is cleaned (using supplied barbecue cleaner), garden furniture covers are replaced, and that rubbish and barbecue ashes are disposed of before leaving the house. A tidy house also helps us a lot with the cleaning which is included in the rental charge as well as the laundry.
UNAVAILABILITY: If for reasons beyond our control, the Premises becomes unavailable, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation and return the Reservation Deposit and any monies received to Tenant. Return of Tenant’s deposited funds shall be Tenant’s sole remedy in event of termination of the reservation.
MECHANICAL FAILURE: Every effort is made to keep appliances and operating systems in good working order. In the event of a problem, Tenant shall report any issue as soon as it arises. We will make every effort to correct the problem as soon as is practicable based on availability of parts or service. No refund or rate adjustment will be made for any mechanical failure.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY: It is expressly understood and agreed that the Owner and/or Owner’s agent of said Premises, shall not be liable for any damages or any injury to Tenant, or to Tenant’s personal property from whatever cause arising from occupancy of said Premises by Tenant. It is further understood and agreed that Owner shall not be responsible for any personal property left in said Premises and that Owner’s insurance does not cover Tenant’s property.
WAIVER: Failure of Owner to enforce any provision of this Agreement will not be deemed a waiver. The acceptance of rent or any other fee will not waiver Owner’s right to enforce any provision of this Agreement.
From Jul 17 - Aug 26, 2016 the minimum stay is 6 nights.
Directions and instructions for entry were perfect so it was easy to get there. The house was clean and as per the pics. WiFi works well. The kitchen carries bare essentials as indicated, but unlike other houses/villas we have visited and are visiting as I write, there is practically nothing left over from prior users. One thing that we felt made a difference was that cleaning material like dishwasher tablets and machine wash detergent were very limited in the context of a 4 bedroom house. Outside space is quite good and well kept. Neighbourhood is ok, people are friendly. The local pizzeria runs late daily and the proprietor is friendly, pizzas are good. Local bakeries are average, if you want a good one, go to Lespignan. Cute village. Well located for beaches, Carcassone and the Canal du Midi. We had a great holiday.

We would just like to clarify that we only provide essentials to help begin your stay comfortably, but not to last for the duration of the stay. This is explained in our Welcome Guide which is sent to our guests as soon as their reservation is confirmed.
This includes starting quantities of the following items:
- coffee capsules, filter coffee, tea, a bottle of wine, cooking oil, salt, pepper, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets in each of the 2 kitchens,
- shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap in each of the 3 bathrooms,
- clothes detergent, barbecue cleaning product in the utility room.
Bakeries are more subjective however! We are big fans of the one on rue de la Fontaine, but you have to get there early to get their limited quantities or pre-order. The other 2 bakeries are not up to their standard. :)
Logement très bien décrit, très agréable. Très belles salles d'eau et de bonnes installations dans l'ensemble.
"Magnifique maison pour un séjour en famille "
Cette belle maison est très spacieuse et très bien équipée, elle est décorée avec (website hidden) ne manque rien pour passer un séjour agréable et reposant .
Nous étions avec nos "grands " enfants, il y a largement assez de place pour sept adultes et chacun peut avoir son indépendance dans cette grande maison très fonctionnelle.
Le jardin est très agréable aussi ,nous y avons joué, mangé, bronzé et fait la sieste sans aucun vis à vis .
Le village et ses habitants sont très accueillants. Les petits commerces ainsi que le marché (3fois par semaine) ont beaucoup de charme .
Nous avons pu nous rendre à la plage de Vendres sans problème de circulation en plein mois d'août .

Hemos estado una semana de Agosto. La casa es simplemente maravillosa, con todo tipo de comodidades, además de estar perfectamente comunicada para visitar los preciosos pueblos de alrededor.
Shresh el anfitrion es encantador, muy amable y prepara todo genial para tenerlo todo perfecto cuando llegas.
Te envian una guía detallada que también está en la casa, con todo tipo de información de la casa como de guía para visitar. No puede estar mejor preparado!!!

We have enjoyed one week in Nissan this July. The house “La Vigne de Villiers” is spacious with everything you wish for - and more than we actually expected. A full equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a nice closed courtyard, advanced tv/music systems, barbeque, coffee machines etc ;-)
It is also nice that it we got an almost tangible feeling that Shresh and Tatiana have created an environment where they really wants the guests to feel welcome. Before the stay, we received a very comprehensive guide to the house and the surroundings including ideas for sightseeing and this is followed by large folders in the house with tour guides and guides for all the equipment (and as mentioned above, there is a lot;-) in the house.
Communication with Shresh and Tatiana is swift and easy and helpful in every sense.
We also tested Shresh and Tatiana’s taste for good food as we tried two of the restaurants that they recommended. For sure worth the recommendation. We still remember the view from the terrace of the restaurant in Lespignan, the taste and the flavors.
We had a great and peaceful time at a beautiful place. The house has the "special something" - nice and comfortable bedrooms, a large and well equipped (open) kitchen and just the prefect backyard if you have kids. Over all there is an elegant and stylish layer of design & decor within the walls of the winemaker's house.
We spent one week, discovered the nice village (market every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday, played Petanques, bought fresh bread and meat at the boulangerie & at the boucherie. Carcassonne, Perpignan, Montpellier but also nice beaches and the impressive Cabald du Midi are hardly one hour away. So you can discover the whole Languedoc from this amazing homebase.
Description of Arrival, Living and Departure by Shresh were just flawless. We would come back anytime.

We had a lovely week in Nissan-lez-Enserune. The villa is lovely and spacious. It has all mod cons with plenty of space outside to enjoy a meal in the fresh air or just to soak up the sun. The village is quaint with several local shops and restaurants. It's ideally situated for day trips to Montpellier, Carcasonne, and many smaller towns and villages. Beziers is well worth a visit. Lots of local things to see near Nissan-lez-Enserune including the nearby Roman site and museum where there's also a great view of the 13th Century Etang de Montady.
About the Host, Shreshta & Tatiana
I am a British citizen of Indian origin living in Paris with my Russian wife where we have worked for a number of years. My biggest passions are traveling, cars and music and my wife is passionate about photography and cooking. To complete the picture, we both love dancing and wine.
Between us, we speak English, French and Russian with different degrees of fluency, and we are both easy going and enjoy meeting people.
