Super accueil par Sophie, une fois dissipée la crainte due à la panne de sonnette!!!
We did not get to know Stephanie, but her friend Sophie who welcomed us warmly. Stephanie sent indications how to reach the place from the airport. Sophie answered all our questions and gave us a valuable list with restaurants and recommended places in the neigborhood. The neighborhood is friendly and safe and well connected to metro. The appartment very nice and clean, and we had the possibility to use the little yard, too. We were also allowed to leave our luggage for the rest of the day after leaving the apartment.
Thanks to Stephanie and Sophie for the great stay! We would love to come back again!
Our trip was really amazing and wonderful. And it's also thanks to Stephanie who gave us a warm welcome : she gave us good adresses in NYC and she stayed available at all moments. It was nice she speaks several languages which was very helpful for us in our first exchanges.
As regards the apartment, we can say that was very clean, spacious and functional. The borough was very calm and the subway was nearby.
We really enjoyed this travel which made us want to come again. We advise everybody to come at Stephanie's apartments.
The apartment at Maison d'Art was perfect for us and very well stocked with essentials - eg every kitchen utensil you need should you want to cook (we didn't!) We loved the paintings. The A/C was a lifesaver during the hottest days NY has known for many years. Stephanie provided a long list of useful restaurants, shops etc. in the area and information re transport. The apartment was quiet, even on Saturday night and the neighborhood was fine. The M10 bus - which stops at the end of the street - was a great (if somewhat leisurely) way to get to Columbus Circle, from where you can connect to most places downtown. For faster rides we used the (email hidden) Nicholas, which is a few minutes walk away. When we eventually met Stephanie, she was charming and very hospitable. The kids (hers and ours) had great fun together in the short time we had to chat. Stephanie even called a cab for us to take us back to the airport - she has a regular driver so we knew we were in good hands. Thanks for everything and see you again - I hope!
Thanks for your help! The place was lovely and much cheaper than a YMCA or other prison like setting place to stay. Very nice art, clean place, and a relaxing interior. The pizza was quite good too! See you next visit.
Staying chez Stephanie at the artist apt was the greatest, even though we actually didn't get to meet her she seems incredibly laid back and welcoming, the apt is a charm and the area although it can appear a bit sketchy at first is full of very very live and welcoming people like the host. We had a blast and would return to the artist apt and any other place where Stephanie is the host in a heartbeat... Thanks for a great experience!
I literally just returned from a 6 day girl's get away to NYC, and the first thing I wanted to do was write this review. Both Stephanie and her Artist's Apt on W 132nd are fantastic. Though our room wasn't ready upon our arrival due to a late departure, Stephanie's orientation more than made up for it. She sat us down and provided maps, marked them with notable points in the neighborhood, and gave us a crash course in how to navigate the city. Had we not been visiting a native friend, I'm sure we would have made a point to see more of her to pick her brain. I also want to note that, despite very clear instructions not to, I accidentally locked a door to which we had no key. A quick phone call to our gracious host fixed everything-- no grief at all. The place is pretty fantastic; the combination of hardwood, exposed brick, and cool works of art is awesome. I will recommend Stephanie to anyone I know who is going to the city, and so will my friend who currently lives there. Thanks for a spectacular trip! :)
Before I arrived in NYC, I was a little worried about the apartment arrangements because I haven't heard from Stephanie until the day I went to the airport. But as soon as I arrived she was there to give us a warm welcome. During the stay she was always available and ready to offer help. The apartment really looks like on the pictures and I felt truly at home. It is nicely decorated, clean and cozy. I would definitely suggest friends to stay at Stephanie's apartments. I love the brownstone, the street is nice and clean, and the subway station is only 2 blocks away. Great and wonderful!
Stephanie was a wonderful host. We spent 4 nights at "Artist's apt" and i can't tell how great it was. Stephanie was very helpful and gave us lots of advices to really enjoy our stay in New York. The place was clean, well equipped and not far from the subway. We definitely recommend her to anyone.
Stephanie was as resourceful and helpful as her website suggested. Her artist's suite was large and quieter than expected. The neighborhood around is friendly and welcoming. Two small issues -- first, the level of cleanliness was not very high. I had to clean some of the shelves in the bathroom and the floor in the living room so we could use it. Secondly, Stephanie overcharged us for the crib: initially, she agreed to rent it out to us for 30 dollars for the entire stay, but instead she charged us 30 dollars per night. Otherwise the stay was great and I would warmly recommend it.
