The Space

Offering "I love horses" packages. Are you still National Velvet or Dale Rogers in your heart? Stuck in the rat race of the city??? Or just stuck where you are in general????Grab your horse crazy BFF and come to Willow Hill for a unique hands on opportunity. Actually learn about horses and what it means to own and live with them. Get crazy happy tired and covered with horse hair !! Opportunities vary with dates, but the packages include daily hands on horse activities, visits to watch thoroughbreds in training, seeing former champions in retirement and visiting local horsie hangouts. Experience the appeal of having your own horse for 3 night and 5 night packages. Space with packages limited to three participants for individualized attention. Prices vary according to scheduled activities. Details on request -- you will be delighted !!!! This is a charming, quiet horse farm in central Kentucky. Rural setting, rooms tastefully decorated with an equestrian theme. Private bedroom, wireless internet, parking, room for rv or horse trailer parking, great Southern hospitality. Less than 15 minutes from historic Bardstown - -a scenic tourist town with great restaurants, shops and interesting attractions. Watch thoroughbreds graze peacefully from your bedroom window, the shady covered porch when it's hot, or the cozy family room with fireplace when it's cold. If you are traveling with your horses, I also have stalls available for over night stays with your equine friends. If you want to get close to former thoroughbred race horses or just learn about horses in general - -this is the place. Also available for regular "non horsie" accommodations if desired.

Interaction with Guests

Interaction with guests depends on the guests themselves. I take my cue from them. I am always more than ready to use my extensive knowledge of the area to help guests have a great experience in Kentucky. With the horse packages, I am very involved since the visit revolves around the horses.

  • Janet was such a great host - her home, warm and welcoming. I was only there for one night, but it was a beautiful one and I had an amazing time chatting with Janet and learning more about her sweet and gorgeous horses. Definitely a wonderful place to stay in Kentucky and I hope I get the chance to swing through again! Thanks again for everything Janet!

  • Jan was wonderful and happy to share all her horse knowledge with us. It was so much fun to watch her with the horses - grooming, playing, exercising them. The farm has beautiful views of rolling hills - the front porch is a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. It felt like staying with family.

  • My brother-in-law, cousin and I flew down for the derby and decided to use Airbnb for the first time ever, and we are EXTREMELY happy we did because of Janet. Janet is a wonderful person and a perfect host (she even stayed on the phone with us while we found her drive way, yes, we looked like we were from out of town :) Her land and animals are beautiful, she keeps her house very clean, and she makes a great breakfast. We were able to do all the things we wanted to (and more with her help) in the ~24 hours we were in Louisville. Thanks again Janet, I am so happy we decided to AirBNB with you!

  • Great farm to stay at if you're on the bourbon trail and want to meet a couple of retired thorough breds. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go on a ride since it was freezing that morning. Janet is very warm & cheery, and provides a hardy breakfast in the morning. Will definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

  • Grab a pair of cowboy boots, pick up some "jamaican me happy" bottles, and head over to Janet's beautiful horse farm for a relaxing vacation. Janet warms your heart with her motherly southern hospitality and quirky personality. I really feel like I not only experienced a country kind of lifestyle, but also made a friend. The house is gorgeous! Spacious, extremely clean, and very comfortable. She has three majestic thoroughbreds, who yearn to be spoiled with love. Whether you want to experience farm life and help out with the duties, or travel into town for bourbon tasting and line dancing, Janet's house is a perfect stay for you. I will most definitely return, for I missed Kentucky the second my plane took off. My gratitude goes out to Janet for making me feel right at home. I highly recommend visiting her!
