Private room in my Columbia Heights row house. 4 blocks from the Metro Green/Yellow line which is a direct route to downtown, museums, monuments, and shopping. The house is full of vintage finds, and I live with my girlfriend and two amazing dogs.
Awesome 100 year old townhouse in the middle of Columbia Heights filled with vintage modern home furnishings. The private room has a full size bed, LCD HD flat-screen tv with cable and Smart Blu-ray player with Netflix, Youtube, HBOGo, and access to my large DVD collection. There is a desk with computer, wireless internet access, Stereo with Ipod hookup, and a mini fridge with refreshments and snacks. I have two very cool dogs, Ollie is a very lazy 3 year old Am. bulldog/ Dane mix, and Eddie a sweet deaf Am. Bulldog mix, both are very friendly and eager to make new friends. I'm located only a few blocks from multiple metro stops, and shopping and nightlife in Columbia Heights. For additional nightlife options there are tons restaurants and bar choices in nearby Adams Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, and U St. In the summer I build custom bicycles in my workshop so I have bicycles to rent if you need a way to get around. There's also a private backyard with a fire-pit and koi pond for relaxing outside.
Guests will have access to a shared bathrooms, kitchen and the rest of the house. Feel free to cook a meal in my well stocked kitchen, or watch a movie or game in the living room, or just relax in your room.

I or my girlfriend will be here to check you in and show you around. Once you've checked in you're free to come and go as you please. I often cook and if you're around you'll likely be invited to join us for a meal or hang out with our friends watching a movie or hockey game. If you like more privacy you can hang out in your room where there is a desk for getting some work done, and a tv with cable, and a smart blu-ray player with lots more entertainment options.
Columbia Heights is a fantastic place to live and visit. Convenient to everything going on in DC, the Columbia Heights Metro stop is your easy link to downtown monuments and museums. You can walk to restaurants and bars just up 11th st. or enjoy the fountain and community vibe in the
Columbia Heights center near the Tivoli Theater. U St. is a short walk to even more nightlife, restaurants, weekend flea markets, and even more shops. You'll really be in the middle of it all!
The metro Green/Yellow line is just a few blocks away, and is a short 5 stop trip down to the monuments and museums without having to change trains. About 30 minutes door to door. It couldn't be easier!
In addition I rent bikes on Spinlister. Just use your favorite search engine to find "profile/15341 on Spinlister"
Communication is the key, let me know what type of schedule you are going to be keeping and I'll be as accommodating as I can. I live here with my two dogs and cookie baker girlfriend. I work weekends and she works almost every day (owning your own business is so rewarding! ) but both of our schedules are very flexible. Once you're checked in you're free to come and go as you please, and use any of the common areas of the house including the kitchen and laundry. The older dog Ollie has the run of the house, but the younger one is crated when no one is home to keep him from getting into trouble. Both of the dogs are friendly and love any attention you give so dog friendly people are ideal for stays at our house. If you have any questions please ask, We love this place and think you will too...
I have stayed with Joel for about three days while i was visiting washington and it was great. His house is very nice and cozy and so is the room. Joel provided me with evwrything i needed and also gave me great tips about the city. The dogs are very friendly too. Moving around was easy since the metro station is a few blocks away and the neighborhood seemed pretty quiet and safe. I would deffinetly recomend his place and if i e ver come back to Washington i will definetly stay there again. Thanks Joel for everything and go capitols...
I reached out to Joel at the very last minute while traveling and he was able to respond quickly to provide me a direction for the night. Joel has a wealth of knowledge and is a local to DC. His place was very close to the restaurants and bars. He provides free parking which is a huge plus. I would definitely stay here again if I were back in DC.
Highly recommend staying with Joel! I didn't have the chance to stay long, but he was very hospitable and the space was comfortable and clean. It is evident he is an airbnb pro from our communication, the room setup, and all the thoughtful little details (he has a supply of pretty much any toiletry you may have forgotten). There is also an excellent collection of old and unique finds, so be sure to explore the house and check them out! Just be aware that there are two dogs who get very excited about new people. I was a little nervous at first, but they are extremely friendly, and Joel helped me learn to communicate with them.
Joel and his girlfriend Shannon were really kind and helpful. (the dogs as well) The room and the neighbourhood was nice. There was even a fridge with drinks and snacks in the room. It is close to the metro station, therefore it easy and quick to get to downtown area. Everything was great. I would certainly stay there again.
Joel was a very good host, he was welcoming, and his Bnb was as advertised. He showed me around the city (local restaurants, bars, and museums) and made me feel comfortable in his home. I highly recommend staying with joel, either at his private rooms in the townhouse or his downstairs listing.
Joel is great. He makes you really comfortable like you're visiting a friend and also very accomodating (his gf was also very nice). My flight got delayed so i got in very late in the day but he waited up. He also fixed me a quick dinner when i told him i haven't eaten - it was close to 11pm (best pork sandwich on the planet!). Can't thank him enough for that.
The room is just as (website hidden), fresh towels, snacks and drinks in the mini fridge, comfy bed, warm down comforters and lovely down pillows. It's kinda like sleeping in your own room, very cozy, I slept like a baby. Bathroom is clean with shampoo, soap, etc available. Good water pressure too. The 2 dogs were sweet and as well behaved as they can be, so adorable.
The house is abt 10 mins walk (or faster if you have longer legs) from the nearest metro station, bus stops are even closer. It's relatively close to city center, just a short trip to go downtown. There's target and a bunch of other shops around the metro station too. The neighborhood is also okay, lots of people walking around you so you don't get scared if it's your first time in the city and don't know the area.
I would stay here again if I'm ever in town. Lots to see in DC!
Landing in the comfort of Joel and Shannons place after a long flight couldn't have been more perfect. I felt at home straight away, the dogs were fun and Joel and Shannon make you feel so welcome in their home. The room had everything you could want, even a refridgerator stocked with drinks and snacks. As if all this isn't enough, the neighborhood is very nice as well. I would love staying here again.
