Unbeatable location

100% of guests in the past year gave this location a 5-star rating.
The Homestead @ Glenwood is a beautifully reimagined 7-bedroom, 3-bathroom mudbrick home, originally built as a spiritual retreat and now transformed into stunning holiday accommodation. Crafted from natural materials—cedar, exposed brick, reclaimed posts and beams, and elegant parquetry floors—it offers an authentic farmhouse experience. Overlooking a serene lake and sprawling lawns, this tranquil escape is just 20 minutes from Benalla.

The space
Welcome to The Homestead, part of the Glenwood Farm Accommodation collection. Set on 200 acres of rolling farmland, this spacious mudbrick home offers the perfect retreat for family gatherings, friend reunions, and peaceful escapes.

With seven bedrooms, multiple living spaces, and wide open skies, it’s ideal for groups wanting to relax and reconnect. You'll love the home’s natural textures, warm interiors, and views across the Victorian countryside.

Enjoy the peaceful location, yet you're still close to the Winton Motor Raceway, Benalla, and the gourmet regions of Milawa and the King Valley.

‘The Homestead @ Glenwood’ has two internal living spaces (one with wood fireplace) and the Hamptons inspired north facing deep verandah with plenty of alfresco living to enjoy, giving you the feeling that you could be in the middle of Provence’s wine country taking in the serenity of the lake sparkling in the sunshine. Interior designed to create a country style accent on Hamptons style charm, the main living area enjoys a 3-seater country style couch and a 50inch TV (set-top box and DVD player), a provincial style dining table for 8 and a breakfast bar for 4 in the well-equipped kitchen. The second living area has two sitting areas – one in front of the 80-inch smart TV, the other in front of the wood fire, plus there is a dedicated desk if you need to do some work or study during your stay. You’ll be spoilt for coffee choices with a Breville coffee machine, French press, and instant coffee in the kitchen, plus lots of condiments, herbs and spices and supplies for you to use. The four bedrooms (three queen size beds and one king single bed) on the north side of the house all have access to the verandah. There is one bedroom with a private ensuite and all the bathrooms remain in their neutral retro authenticity while kept immaculate for today’s needs. The laundry has been renovated to bring the farmhouse style into the home, allowing all the storage to be in one place. All the rooms have been thoughtfully decorated to feel plush and inviting, giving a sense of relaxed country pride. The house is air conditioned in the living spaces, ceiling fans in each bedroom, and we provide individual heaters to the bedrooms in winter.

There’s plenty to do for families or couples having a weekend together, or the perfect fit for those family and friends attending an event locally, or even for work colleagues working locally who want the feeling of being on holiday after work.

Note: if you need additional accommodation for your group Glenwood Farm Accommodation would love to help. We also have The Cottage at Glenwood, a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage with a detached bungalow on the same property, as well as Lawrence House a 4-bedroom 1 bathroom house around the corner on Green Road, with 15 beds between the three properties (sleeping 28 in total).

Other things to note
As this is a working farm, you are more likely than not to hear animal noises and farm machinery. We have electric fences, dams and lots of gates. We ask you to be respectful and to not venture into any spaces which are not listed above. If you find a gate open, please leave it as you found it, as it means the farmer will be back shortly.
• ‘The Homestead at Glenwood’ is a smoke-free, vape-free, drug-free zone. If you do smoke, please only smoke away from the farmhouse and be respectful of total fire bans and the nature of our land, extinguishing all butts in a proper receptacle.
• We are a shoe-free house inside. Please bring your soft slippers, woolly socks or indoor Ugg's to keep your tootsies warm.
• For the comfort and safety of all guests, and due to our working farm environment, we are a pet-free property and cannot accommodate animals of any kind.
• If you would like to have a party, event or services at The Homestead, you must have written consent from the host, and additional fees may apply. This also applies to any external services including but not limited to chefs, catering, hair and make-up, beauty therapy treatments and personal training.
• We have high-speed Wi-Fi on the property, thanks to Starlink.
• In the country, we are prone to flying and crawling insects, native animals like kangaroos, wombats, koalas and echidnas on the property. We do provide inspect sprays and we do regular barrier spraying to deter insects from entering the house. For your safety, it is best to stay away from the local wildlife.

It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re looking to visit the Winton Motor Raceway, wanting to enjoy the gastronomic delights of the King Valley, take in the autumn beauty of the Victorian High Country or step back in time to discover Ned Kelly country. Explore the local wineries, the national parks and the high-country towns for some traditional country baking.

The popular art silo trail takes you from Tatong through Goorambat, Devenish, St James, Tungamah and soon to be in Katamatite.

Visit the Mokoan Hub and Cafe at the Winton Wetlands for an easy family friendly bite to eat after a stroll on the boardwalks along the wetlands (find the fish trees!).

Mount Buffalo is your closest place to see snow (around 104 kilometres) in winter, where you can do snow play, tobogganing and cross-country skiing. In summer, you can go up to explore the magical Ladies Bath and Eurobin Falls, The Horn and The Gorge, whereas in Spring, the grassy plains turning into a burst of flowering colour.

Our favourite wineries in the region include Pizzini Wines in Whitfield, Brown Brothers in Milawa, Baileys in Glenrowan, and if you feel like wanting a day trip for a 5-star rated indulgence, try Campbells Wines in Rutherglen and their famous cheese platters and then take the kids 10 kilometres further over the border to New South Wales in Corowa to say they have been ‘interstate.’

Benalla is the place to go for a fabulous array of restaurants, pub food, cafes, supermarket essentials, pharmacy and medical needs (including a hospital) or even transport, if you need to pick up an extra guest from the train station (the line connects Melbourne to Sydney).
