Place was well located and very spacious. Atrani is a great little town and near lots of interesting places- easy access to the higher villages via local pathways and amalfi just a few steps away via a pedestrian tunnel. Apartment had some funny electrical issues that caused 4 consecutive blackouts our first evening but once fully explained not to run the washer In a hot cycle things went ok. Funny policy of paying extra for towels ( not sure what that was all about) we enjoyed the stay and even the 30 or so steps up to the place though wonderful maze like passages.
Beautiful flat in Atrani. It was very clean and had great views from the balcony.
5 minutes walk to Amalfi.
Good communication with the host.
Our host Tina was very helpful with communication as we booked late and also suggesting a driver transfer from Sorento to Atrani as the coastal drive can be chaotic through Positana. The driver knew where to drop us - closest point to the apartment, very beneficial with all our luggage. We were met by Mrs Francesa who explained all aspects of unit in Italian with the help of driver's translation. The apartment was close to the local square and beach. The walk into Amalfi was easy via the pedestrian tunnel - 10-15minutes. We did a day trip to Positana and Ravello, both beautiful. We swam and drank at fernando's bar, the next beach around from the main one and after busing it up to Ravello we walked the track back down - can highly recommend if you like something a bit different. It was nice to stay out of the busy town of Amalfi and enjoyed a beach beer at Bar Nettuno after a beach swim at Atrani. Overall the unit was comfortable and great for 2 couples, we eat in the town square both nights and the food was superb - restaurant was to the left when facing the fountain - Mrs Francesa recommended. A good base away from other busy spots we had stayed.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Atrani. Its a stunning little town with a unique character. If you are looking for a real Italian feel, Atrani is the place for you. Francesca’s flat is very nice. It is very clean and comfortable. There were five of us and we had more than enough space.
What a lovely apartment and situated beautifully near the town square which is a great place to sit and chat with eachother or locals. We found this a quiet local experience away from the tourist hype of Amalfi which is just a short walk away through the pedestrian tunnel. I would highly recommend this apartment. There were seven adults in our group and plenty of room for all!
We enjoyed our 4 day stay in Atrani in early October in this bright and spacious apartment. Atrani is a lovely small town, just a 15-20 minute walk into the main Amalfi square if you take the stairs (and less if you are willing to share the road and tunnel with the traffic). At the same time, you are well away from the Amalfi tourist crush but have easy access to several good restaurants in town (including the wonderful Le Palme) as well as a couple of good hikes. Atrani is what Amalfi must have been like before Amalfi became a largely tourist town. Atrani has a small grocery store in the square as well as a fruit and vegetable shop and a butcher shop (with a selection of wines) just up the main street. As with any kind of walking in this area, you have to be comfortable with steps: the apartment is 60+ steps up from the Atrani town square but the winding stairs are very atmospheric and part of the charm of the town. The apartment is as pictured, with a roomy kitchen/dining area (albeit no microwave) and very firm beds. If you go upstairs to the terrace, there is a nice view of the town with hills and ocean in the background. Internet access is at the cafes in the nearby Atrani town square, Francesca met us in the town square when we arrived, and was very pleasant especially given the limits of her English and our Italian (none on either side.) Pasquale/Tina, who handle the reservation process in English, were very efficient and responsive. The neighboring Amalfi is a convenient base of operation for excursions to Ravello and other small towns (and Atrani is the town that Escher used in his lithographs, Metamorphosis 1 and 2). Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Atrani and we would use this apartment again if we return; the whole experience was a very “local” one that we found rewarding.
