If you are looking for accommodations roomy enough and comfortable for a family of five without feeling like you're on top of each other, the Dutchtown Gem will certainly meet your needs. Our family with 3 kids (ages 15, 12 and 8) stayed here for three nights and we were very satisfied with the roominess and location.
Diana and Jim are wonderful and thoughtful hosts who will go the extra mile to meet your needs and make you feel at home. There are numerous small touches that add up - such as stocking the fridge and pantry with a few food items ( we took full advantage!), moving their car so we could park in their spot during a storm, and providing some extra info via email in advance related to the Comic Con event taking place that weekend. Their commitment to their neighborhood is evident by the recognition and certifications from the community that they received.
We enjoyed getting to know the Dutchtown area a bit and checking into the funky secondhand stores. We felt the location was very accessible to the activities we had planned, downtown and in the Forest Park area.
All in all, we had a tremendous stay and would enjoy returning at some point, without hesitation.
Our family of four had a great time staying at the Dutchtown Gem. 3 bedrooms plus living room and kitchen were the perfect amount of space for us. Diana is lovely: super helpful and friendly, and has created a wonderful little nest for visitors including a stocked frig! Easy location near Corondolet Park and right off highway 55 and the best napping couch!
Very cute space on the top floor of the house. There were three bedrooms and lots of space to spread out as well as a kitchen to cook meals. Everything was clean and tidy and they even left some food options for breakfast. We were about a 15 minute drive from downtown, 15 minutes from the Loop/West End and 10 minute drive to Cherokee Street. Diane was responsive, friendly and helpful and as long as you don't mind be a little bit outside of town, I would recommend this as a great place to stay.
The Dutchtown Gem is as described and easy to get to from downtown St. Louis. We (my kids!) enjoyed having the toys upon arrival and a few cookies to greet us. Diana was a great host and helped us out with food suggestions and laundry.I thought there was laundry facility and we needed to wash our baby's cloth diapers. She happily did these for us. A quiet and restful night. Clean and comfortable.
My father and I spent one night at the Dutchtown Gem. Firstly, we greatly appreciated the clear and easy-to-follow directions. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and escorted upstairs to the large apartment/house. It was clean, comfy and cute. We each had a pleasant night's rest and carried onward the next morning. Thank you very much for your hospitality and for your generosity.
We picked the Dutchtown Gem based on the reviews and photos. What can we say? We agree with all the wonderful reviews. Everything was perfect from the rooms to their welcome to the free breakfast food they provided. Diana and Jim know what the definition of 'hosting' is. We will definitely be back. Thank you so very much! We had a lovely time.
Diana and Jim met my family and I at the front door. Diana showed the wonderful home to us and made sure we had everything we needed. They are GREAT HOSTS and have a GREAT location for a visit to St. Louis. My son loved the toys and angel food cake left by Diana. Parking is right in front of the home and neighborhood is near many attractions. We had a quick ten minute drive to Edward Jones Dome for our event. All three beds are comfortable, and the home, kitchen, and bathroom were extremely clean. We have a family of four and had room left for at least two more in the home.
Diana went above and beyond to ensure that we had a comfortable living space! What a charming home and interesting couple! Thank you so much, Liza and I enjoyed our travels very much, thanks to you included.
Thanks Andy, so glad you enjoyed your stay and got to go up in the Arch. Rather you then me. I loved that Liza left me a note in the guest book, sad that I have no idea what it says. ;) I'm sure your time together was awesome and sorry it couldn't have been longer. You two make a great couple. Diana
My friends and I wanted to stay together in the same space as we were taking workshops in St. Louis and this Gem was the answer. We all probably spent the first hour of arrival 'oooh'ing and 'ah'ing and the cute and quaint features of the apartment. Diana was incredibly friendly and helpful. We're looking forward to visiting again in the future!
We had a mini family reunion in St. Louis. The Gem was the perfect size to host our 6 members (including 3 young boys). Diana was very communicative and helpful leading up to and during the visit. She was also very kind to the kids and even provided some toys that they really enjoyed. The house is just as it appears in the photos.
