Perfect for two! Clouds Rest Cabin is quiet, exceptionally clean, well stocked, and maintained. It is centrally located inside the gates of Yosemite National Park, and only 7 miles from Yosemite Valley. No waiting in long lines to enter the park.
This rare ridge top cabin, has sweeping views of El Capitan, Half Dome and the surrounding mountains. This rental is accessible year round. All you need to bring is your food and beverages and a sense for adventure and fun.

The space
Clouds Rest Cabin was built by Mark and I, using sustainable building practices. Interior wood was harvested and milled from local hazardous tree logging.
Internet access (Verizon Mi-Fi), is limited to checking emails and light web surfing. No downloading of movies or photos.
Updated appliances, central heating and air conditioning are Energy Star approved.
Cabin is well appointed with above average furnishings, kitchen equipment and dishes.
The locked laundry closet with washer and dryer are available to guests who stay 5 days or more. Please use our laundry products.
For guests who ask in advance for shorter stays, I can unlock the laundry in advance.
Plenty of towels and linens.
Walls are decorated with local artists paintings and vintage photographs.
Most furnishings were rescued, and restored from consignment thrift stores, local Yosemite Valley hotel remodels, and Yosemite Valley historic houses that were demolished by NPS.
Snuggle up in the new, very comfortable king size bed after soaking in the large bathtub. House has a on demand “Rinnai”, hot water heater.
Bedroom has expansive views of El Capitan, mountain and tree top scenery.
Living room has comfortable seating to gaze at the fireplace (propane), or watch Directv on the Vizio HD TV ( discreetly hidden in a pine cabinet).
Ample selection of books and guides on the local history, wildlife and flora and hiking. Several wicker crates offer a selection of DVD’s on The Yosemite area and many movies.
Bluetooth entertainment speaker and CD player.
Leisurely barbecue your dinner on the propane gas, Weber “Spirit”.
Eat outside on a 1960’s rescued park picnic table, while watching a spectacular sunset.
We offer 2 sets of adjustable hiking poles, 2 daypacks, Yeti ice chest, Yeti carry all bag, picnic blanket and small table so you can enjoy hanging out at El Capitan Meadow and watch the rock climbers ascend the granite walls. Bring your own binoculars.

Guest access

Foresta has the closest private home rentals to Yosemite Valley.
Foresta is a National Park historic and cultural landscape.
Two 1880's barns, farmhouse, pioneer cemetery and has Native American bed rock mortar holes throughout the area.
Foresta is a small private inholding inside Yosemite National Park on its western edge.
It is quiet and peaceful. It is located away from the busy, noisy hub Yosemite Valley, Yosemite West, and Wawona accommodations.
Night skies will amaze you here.
Crane Creek, which flows through Foresta will test your skills at flyfishing (catch and release please), or take one of our sand chairs down to the creek to birdwatch or read a book.
Foresta is a unique birdwatching area. Many birds migrate through here because of the creek and meadow.
Keep an eye out for Mountain quail, Northern Flicker's, Wrens, Hawks, and many many other species of birds.
Deer, Bears, Bobcats, and Foxes live in the area, and occasionally wander through the Foresta housing areas. Foresta is one of the few areas in Yosemite that has no problems with bears. We respect the wildlife from a distance and are "Bear aware". Information is located in cabin.

My husband Mark and I, have lived and worked in Yosemite National Park since 1979. We have lived here full time in Foresta since 1981. Foresta is a quiet private inholding inside Yosemite National Park. The historic community has less than 40 homes. Situated beside a National Historic Landscape, Big Meadow, with barns, pioneer cemetery and Indian bed rock mortars you can visualized what life was like here when Yosemite was discovered. The beautiful Crane Creek flows through the center of our community. Perfect for an afternoon dip during a lazy warm summer afternoon. We built our home here in 1992 and later bought an empty lot and built Clouds Rest Cabin in 2003. We have recently retired from our outside jobs. Noreen worked for NPS as volunteer manager for Resource Management and Science. Mark retired as the present and past concessionaires Environmental Manager. We both are avid hikers and backpackers. Mark is an exceptional fly fisherman and gives guests tips on where to go for the best fishing in the area or recommends the best local fly fishing guides. Clouds Rest Cabin was built by us so that we can encourage visitors from around the United States and world to enjoy this very special National Park. We are here to help with your visit and to answer any questions to make your visit stress free.
