Interaction with Guests
We love meeting people, and we're happy to help guests get to know and love DC as much as we do. But it's all up to you: With your own private suite and entrance, your personal space is assured.
Petworth is a rising star, home and just a few blocks walk to an expanding variety of cozy neighborhood hangouts and cutting edge eateries, coffee shops, and more. People on our block come from an eclectic mix of cultures, from several generations. And we're close to all those things you see on the postcards.
ARTS, CULTURE AND NIGHTLIFE
Petworth offers many attractions, with innovative bistros, bars and social spots. We love living here and enjoy wandering a few blocks to eat and drink at Domku, Petworth Citizen, Crane and Turtle, Chez Billy, Looking Glass Bar, Qualia Coffee, Sweet Mango Jamaican Cafe, Sala Thai, Hitching Post, and more. One metro stop away (or a 20 minute walk) is Columbia Heights and the international dining and shopping of 11th St. and the Mt Pleasant area.
Two metro stops to the U Street/14th Street area - some of DC's most popular, world class restaurants, clubs, art galleries and indie shopping. Famous as the birthplace of many 20th century African American jazz, arts and literature treasures (think Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Langston Hughes, Howard University.) Today, it’s “U Street,” DC's live music scene centered near 14th St. NW and U St. NW, with 9.30 Club, Black Cat, DC9, U Street Music Hall, fantastic restaurants, the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl and so much more!
Transportation is easy. By metro (subway) we are only 4 stops from the Convention Center / 5 stops to downtown. The metro station is a 10 minute walk away. Bus lines are accessible even closer. Cab rides and car services like Uber are affordable from major DC attractions (use promo code "uberdcsuite" on their website for $20+ credit). If you're staying for a while, consider a low-cost Car2Go membership. If you have your own car, there is ample free parking.

* BUS: Walk to end of our street to the 60 bus running to local metro stations. 2 minute walk to the H8 cross-town bus between Brookland (Catholic University), Woodley / Cleveland Park, American University, etc. Also the 70/79 bus, on Georgia Avenue (7 minute walk) direct to Silver Spring (AFI and downtown) - 20 minute trip.

Loved everything about my stay. Nick and Lylie make it easy to get in and out, the space is comfortable, and they even have a compact kitchenette space (which I didn't use). The hosts are friendly and awesome.
I stayed at Nick and Lylie's basement suite for a summer-long internship and I would rate my stay a 10/10.
Nick and Lylie made me felt welcome from the moment I arrived by treating me to a delicious meal. Nick and Lylie continued to be excellent hosts for the remainder of my stay by always interacting with me cheerfully while providing me with advice about the neighborhood and the many amenities it had to offer.
The suite was exactly as described. The bed was remarkably comfortable and the quality / cleanliness of the space was exceptional.
I would strongly recommend staying at this location for a stay of any duration. Nick and Lyle are tremendous hosts.
Nick was great and made us feel very welcome. He coped well with our late arrival and early departure. All the small details are well taken care of, lovely bathroom, etc. The apartment is a little basementy, however beautifully looked after and presented, and great for the price
Plenty of space here - with its own separate bedroom. I rented this spot for my parents for 2 nights while they were visiting DC...they reported everything was super clean and hosts were thoughtful (even delivered their choice of milk for breakfast!).
We felt very welcomed by Lylie and enjoyed her gardening around the house. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was very clean and well appointed. Enjoyed using the yoga mat. :-)
At first we were surprised to see it was a basement unit - but we got used to that and enjoyed our stay.
The location was very convenient for visiting with our daughter in the Petworth area and there were some really nice restaurants nearby. Also loved going to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.
We had a great stay in Lylie and Nick's suite. We were in the area of the city that we wanted and could walk to good restaurants and were close to the Metro. Lylie gave us suggestions on places to visit while we were in town and how to get there. We had everything we needed in the suite, plus food for breakfast and snacks. Thanks for your hospitality!
My bf and I had a wonderful stay at Nick and Lylie's. Their place was in a great location, and they provided more tourist information than we could ever get through! The self-serve breakfast and extra snacks were more than we expected, and the extra supplies - even tupperware and water bottles, and an umbrella - were incredibly thoughtful.
We didn't get a chance to meet them, but Lylie provided all the contact information we could need if there were any problems and reached out a few times during our stay to make sure everything was ok.
I highly recommend staying here!
