The space

Visitors to DC love our freshly renovated, spacious, and private retreat. Guests enjoy an entire level of a modernized townhouse all for themselves. The suite has its own private entrance.

Guest access

This private one-bedroom suite has its own entrance adjoining the host's home. The area is secured by a gate from the street with easy access by electronic keypad.

Interaction with guests

We love meeting people, and we're happy to help guests get to know and love DC as much as we do. But it's all up to you: With your own private suite and entrance, your personal space is assured.

The neighborhood

Petworth is a rising star, one of DC's hottest neighborhoods, home to an expanding variety of cozy neighborhood hangouts and cutting edge eateries, coffee shops, and more. People on our block come from an eclectic mix of cultures, from several generations. And we're close to all those things you see on the postcards.

Petworth offers many attractions, with innovative bistros, bars and social spots. We love living here and enjoy wandering a few blocks to eat and drink at Petworth Citizen, Himitsu, Homestead, Slim's Diner, Looking Glass Bar/Pub, Qualia Coffee, Slash Run, and more. One metro stop away (or a 20 minute walk) is Columbia Heights and the international dining and shopping of 11th St. and the Mt Pleasant area.

Two metro stops to the U Street/14th Street area - some of DC's most popular, world class restaurants, clubs, art galleries and indie shopping. Great for its party atmosphere at night. Famous as the birthplace of many 20th century African American jazz, arts and literature treasures (think Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Langston Hughes, Howard University.) Today, it’s “U Street,” DC's live music scene centered near 14th St. NW and U St. NW, with 9.30 Club, Black Cat, DC9, U Street Music Hall, fantastic restaurants, the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl and so much more!

Getting around

EASY ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE OPTIONS: Reagan National Airport (DCA) is easiest, a 20-30 minute drive or straight shot on the Yellow line metro. Also easily accessible from Union Station (interstate trains / buses). From Dulles (IAD) or Baltimore (BWI) airports, expect a 45 minute drive into DC.

Metro (subway): The Georgia Ave / Petworth metro station is a 10 minute walk away (green and yellow lines). Bus lines (, etc.) are accessible even closer. Only 4 stops from the Convention Center / 5 stops to downtown and the Mall; easy access to most parts of the city.

Taxi and rideshare like Lyft are fast and affordable from major DC attractions.

If you have your own car, there is ample free street parking with no time limit.

Bike commute lanes are nearby and there is secure bike parking available at the suite. Capital Bikeshare offers short-term and long-term memberships and more than 100 stations throughout the city.

Car2Go offers an affordable car sharing service that allows you to pick up a car from the street near the suite and leave it anywhere in the city.

Nick and Lylie are kind, thoughtful, and helpful hosts. Their accommodations are clean, easy to access, extensively supplied with extras and conveniently located a few Metro stops from all the best that the city has to offer. We were particularly happy with access to a washer/dryer as we travel light and convenient clean clothes are a nice extra. It was also important to me to stay in a safe area as I was traveling with my daughter and even returning late in the evening found the neighborhood safe. I will return to the DC area for more sightseeing in the future and will try to stay with Nick and Lylie when I do!

Nick and Lylie was a clean great space, well equipped and walkable to public transit. We stayed with our children and they really enjoyed the dvd selection and were very cross we didn't have time for the PlayStation. Nick and Lylie were quick to respond to any questions and were lovely overall. This was our first experience with Airbnb was very positive so well done Nick and Lylie we are looking forward to our next stay.

Very comfortable, clean, convenient place. We know the area well and were visiting family so didn't need any tips, but appreciated early check-in, coffee, cereal, and quiet surroundings. Great for our needs.

We really enjoyed our time at nick and lylies space. Lylie helped us with checkin and spent time giving us tips for places to eat in the neighborhood. The apartment was well stocked with everything we could need including umbrellas for the rainy days and was very clean. I enjoyed having a cup of coffee. Each morning. We would definitely stay again.

Lylie and Nick were fantastic hosts! The cared about their guests and responded to questions/needs very quickly even though they didn't have to! (I asked for a MacBook charger and Lylie sent it to me 10pm in the freezing night!) The place was super clean, new, quiet, and cozy, having everything you need even for a long stay! Parking was super easy and convenient and it's free without time limit!! I will definitely recommend this place and I will stay here if I come to D.C. again!

My stay at Nick & Lylie's place was amazing. They went way above and beyond to ensure that myself and my two travel companions were comfortable and well-informed. The accomodations were squeaky clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is lovely and walkable, with cool neighborhood restaurants nearby. Overall, you could tell that the hosts put a lot of thought into the experience of their guests. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Nick And Lylie User Profile

We are a married couple and really enjoy living in Washington DC.
Lylie was born in Australia and is a wellness coach, artist who works with a local non-profit. She has lived in the US since 1998. Nick was born in the Midwest, is an active hiker, a recovering lawyer, and also works with a non-profit. We met in San Francisco, and now live in DC. Traveling is a real pleasure for us, our destinations have included: Brazil, Iceland, France, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, (Australia, of course), Malaysia, Israel, Thailand, England, Japan, Mexico, and much more. When we travel we seek out AirBnb hosts too, and have formed many wonderful friendships.

We enjoy theatre, live music, visual arts, and the diversity of this amazing region.
