Petworth is a rising star, home to an expanding variety of cozy neighborhood hangouts and cutting edge eateries, coffee shops, and more. People on our block come from an eclectic mix of cultures, from several generations. And we're close to all those things you see on the postcards.
ARTS, CULTURE AND NIGHTLIFE
Petworth offers many attractions, with innovative bistros, bars and social spots. We love living here and enjoy wandering a few blocks to eat and drink at Domku, Petworth Citizen, Chez Billy, Looking Glass Bar, Qualia Coffee, Sweet Mango Jamaican Cafe, Sala Thai, Hitching Post, and more. One metro stop away (or a 20 minute walk) is Columbia Heights and the international dining and shopping of 11th St. and the Mt Pleasant area.
Two metro stops to the U Street/14th Street area - some of DC's most popular, world class restaurants, clubs, art galleries and indie shopping. Famous as the birthplace of many 20th century African American jazz, arts and literature treasures (think Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Langston Hughes, Howard University.) Today, it’s “U Street,” DC's live music scene centered near 14th St. NW and U St. NW, with 9.30 Club, Black Cat, DC9, U Street Music Hall, fantastic restaurants, the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl and so much more!
Transportation is easy. By metro (subway) we are only 4 stops from the Convention Center / 5 stops to downtown. The metro station is a 10 minute walk away. Bus lines are accessible even closer. Cab rides and car services like Uber are affordable from major DC attractions (use promo code "uberdcsuite" on their website for $20+ credit). If you're staying for a while, consider a low-cost Car2Go membership. If you have your own car, there is ample free parking.
* METRO SUBWAY: Nearest stop is Georgia Ave./Petworth with Green and Yellow line service.
* BUS: Walk to end of our street to the 60 bus running to local metro stations. 2 minute walk to the H8 cross-town bus between Brookland (Catholic University), Woodley / Cleveland Park, American University, etc. Also the 70/79 bus, on Georgia Avenue (7 minute walk) direct to Silver Spring (AFI and downtown) - 20 minute trip.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay in Nick & Lylie's suite. We had originally booked our trip for last month but had to reschedule at the last minute, and the hosts were very sensitive and accommodating through the whole process. We never got to meet them in person, but they were in contact with us throughout our stay, including just checking up on us when a sudden snowstorm blew in.
The suite itself was super cozy and comfortable, and it was nice to have breakfast before heading out for the day. Keypad entry and the separate entrance was really helpful, so we didn't have to bother the hosts when we arrived late. We had no problem finding free street parking right outside the alley every time we tried. We'd definitely stay here again.
Absolutely perfect thanks once again for letting me stay in your little slice of heaven
We stayed at Lylie and Nick's DC suite for 15 days over Christmas. The suite is really spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet, wel decorated, excellent queen-size bedroom, close to bus lines and not far from Pethworth metro station. Most of all, Lylie and Nick have taken care of every detail to give their guests a comfortable and pleasant stay. We felt at home during our 15-day stay in DC.
Definetely we recommend Lylie and Nick's Airbnb suite to anyone going to DC.
Lylie and Nick, thank you so much for you attention and kindness.
José and Marcello
Nick and Lylie's basement apartment was convenient and comfortable, a perfect place for our quick weekend trip to DC. Even though the owners are on the property, we had complete privacy. Nick and Lylie added a number of very welcoming touches, too - leaving us helpful hints about the neighborhood, and setting us up with a few breakfast snacks and toiletries - and they accommodated our late arrival as well. Very accommodating, very lovely home.
Lylie and Nick were wonderful hosts. A colleague and I stayed in their rental during a conference and had everything we could have asked for and more! Their place was so much cheaper and more comfortable than a hotel (even their pull-out sofa bed was more comfortable than my bed at home!). We could not have been more happy with our stay.
Loved the place very nice quiet and discreet. Hosts made themselves for everything and anything and would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Lylie and Nick's B&B, they really made us feel at home by providing us with all the amenities we needed for our month-long stay. The location is very convenient, as it is near several bus lines as well as the metro station and grocery stores. The B&B provided plenty of privacy with a separate entrance, and it was well secured. Lylie and Nick were very gracious hosts and provided us with a lot of good information and advice about the DC area. We wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again and we highly recommend their B&B if you are considering a quick weekend or a long stay in DC!
We are a married couple and really enjoy living in Washington DC.
Lylie was born in Australia and is a wellness coach, artist who works with a local non-profit. She has lived in the US since 1998. Nick was born in the midwest, is an active hiker and also works with a non-profit. We met in San Francisco, and are now living in DC. Traveling is a real pleasure for us, our destinations have included: Brazil, Iceland, France, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, (Australia, of course), Malaysia, Israel, Thailand, England, Japan, Mexico, and much more. When we travel we seek out AirBnb hosts too, and have formed many wonderful friendships.
From our profile you will see that we enjoy theatre, live music, visual arts, and the diversity of this amazing region.
