This two storey hut is located on the highest point of the property, allowing for some spectacular views of Mt. Merbabu hovering above the rice fields on one side and lush green forest on the other. The hut is equipped with private bathroom with “congkok” toilet, and a living room with a sofa and coffee table.
It’s suitable for a group of 4.
Experiences, such as hiking, cooking, jamu making and making batik are also available.

The space
This is a terrific space for groups to experience nature and enjoy being together. Similar to camping but more comfortable, the dormitory style accommodation is great for team building or informal meetings and discussions.

PROS
Enjoy the calming sounds of the river and the nature life in the forest.
Stunning green scenery and mountain views.
The house is designed to buffer the heat during hotter days.

CONS
We are in the middle of the forest, always cleaning up, but that doesn't stop occasional insect, frog or mouse from visiting the house. If you love nature as much as us it wont bother you!
We are not a hotel and we do not offer 24/7 service, but we will be present to assist.
If you would like the house to be cleaned up, please let us know before so we don't disturb your privacy.

Where you’ll be

Banyubiru, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia

We are special-without a doubt. You will enjoy cool, quiet evenings, magical mornings, and lots of time to relax. You are also welcome to come over to Sitinggil to socialise, borrow books or bikes, and explore the extended property.

Muncul village has some famous warungs in walking distance, as well as a natural spring water public swimming pool and waterpark for young kids, but bring modest swimwear and be prepared for a crowd on the weekend.

Bukit Cinta eco park (with boat rides on beautiful Rawa Pening lake) is only couple of minutes drive away. Visit secluded 9th century Candi Dukuh, the Dutch railway museum at Ambarawa, the huge market in Salatiga, hike numerous mountains in the area, bike down to the lake, walk through the ricefields outside your front door. The list is endless.

I am an Australian with Indonesian citizenship for many years. I manage the historic Sitinggil property and surrounds with my husband, who is a direct descendant of the original owners. We decided to turn Sitinggil into a locavore/eco-orientated tourist facility as, aside from it being the right thing to do, we are hoping to be an inspiration for the newly developing tourism industry in the area. We strive to be plastic nad chemical free, source absolutely every employee, material and ingredient from the local area, and encourage environmental and cultural tourist activities. The highlight is the mountain framed view-with all the trekking possibilities right out the back door. Wish us luck! And if you have gotten as far as reading this-thank you for your interest in our property. Come to Muncul! It really is unique and fascinating, as well as very beautiful.
