Artist's beautiful two-bedroom home in the heart of Beacon. Deck sits perched above Fishkill creek with surrounding trees. Perfect for anyone wanting to be right in the heart of Beacon but with the feeling of being immersed in nature.

The space

This beautiful artist's retreat hidden amongst trees backing onto the banks of fishkill creek is just off Main Street with only a one minute walk to Roundhouse.
While it's right in the middle of Beacon you feel as if you are in a country setting, with the sound of birds and the creek rushing by.

The house is a converted garage and still has the original cement floors throughout the ground floor with exterior corrugated siding.
The kitchen and living room are open plan with wall to wall concertina doors opening out onto a deck, the deck sits perched overlooking fishkill creek with a beautiful canopy of trees. We have air con but find we rarely use it, instead we use the ceiling fan and keep the doors all open, the trees create a wonderful cool shade.
The house has a large artists studio.
2 double bedrooms. All rooms have air con and closet space. 1 bathroom with bath and in bath shower, sink and toilet. The kitchen has everything you would need, stove, oven, toaster, microwave, fridge and many appliances.

We can include highchair and cot if needed.
This space fits 5 people comfortably.

Dine alfresco or simply relax on the deck on the two sun loungers while listening to the river and looking out for cranes that come to fish on the river's edge.
There is also a gas and charcoal barbeque.

A beautiful, unusual home in a fantastic setting. Loved the firestove! Generous, communicative hosts. Two lovely comfortable bedrooms. The third bedroom is a bit separate to the main part of the house, accessed through the studio/workshop - a chilly few steps in cold weather but perfectly cozy once you're inside. Perfect location in a quiet street but minutes walk from all the buzz and hop of Beacon. The Roundhouse, just across the street is a lovely treat for dinner out.

Sophia's home is divine. Her back garden is a sanctuary and only steps from the main street. We had a magic time and she was really helpful with anything we needed.

We had a lovely stay at Sophia's place. The location and house itself were perfect. We especially enjoyed the backyard area with the view of the creek. Not to mention, they were so accommodating and easy to communicate with. Thanks so much for a great stay!!

My family loved everything about Sophia and Peter's house. It's literally 1 minute walk away from all the main street shops and restaurants, in the meantime the unique layout of the house allows you to take a complete break from everything, connecting you with nature. There were always something interesting to look at in the house, the eclectic selection of vintage and handmade furniture and lighting. Dia Beacon is 5 mins away and Tibetan temple is 20 mins away by car. We would love to come back any time!

We had a great stay at Sophia's! The house is funky, comfy, and unique and in an ideal location - walking distance from pretty much anywhere you'd want or need to go in Beacon, yet feels very secluded since all of the windows face the lovely back yard and creek. The kitchen was very well stocked with every pot, pan, and utensil you could possibly need, and she generously let us use the staples in the kitchen. A definite plus if you like to cook when you travel! Sophia was super easy to work with, and even responded quickly from Europe when we had a couple of questions on our stay.
