We stayed on the Great Blasket for 2 nights. This is a unique place of beauty and peace. Billy was very easy to get in touch with prior to our arrival. The hostel was clean and comfortable, with basic cooking facilities (we managed to rustle up mackerel and potatoes for 8 people, so not too basic!) and stove. We had the island more or less to ourselves on the second day. This was such a treat, as we could enjoy the wildlife - a seal colony on the beach, the friendly donkeys, rabbits and sea birds - and got a feel for the kind of life the islanders would have had. The beach is stunningly beautiful. The lack of electricity brought everyone together around the fire in the evenings and we made new friends with our house mates and neighbours who all had interesting stories to tell. Billy brought us back to Dingle in the fantastic Peig Sayers boat. Thanks to Billy and to Cillian and Geraldine in the hostel for the calm warmth and kindness. If you can stay here, do, it is an experience not to be missed.
Since the weather conditions were not the best by the time of departure, Billy could not run his ferry. We had to leave from Dunquin instead of Dingle, so sadly enough we haven't met Billy. However, overall we had a very good experience with him and Alice. Since their accommodation is only reachable by good weather, we had a lot of contact a few days before departure, making sure we know what to expect and avoid too much disappointments. All in all very friendly people. The guys on the island were very very friendly as well. Letting us feel at home right from the beginning. The accommodation was super nice (no electricity makes the evenings even more cosy by candle light) and the beds were really good. It is of course very basic but we didn't need more than some cooking utensils, gas, a wood stove, couches and friendly people to chat with till the sun sets and the island is covered in darkness. Absolutely a Great experience!

What an amazing experience to stay on the Blasket Islands! Billy was a brilliant tour guide on the boat trip over and took the time to point out local spots of interest and wildlife. We were very lucky to have sunny weather so were able to spend the afternoon on the beach and exploring the island. The hostel itself was simple but cosy, the highlight being the panoramic views from the front door. Such a unique experience to stay on an unspoilt island surrounded by nature and the history of the islanders.

Unfortunately I did not get out to the island due to weather, which I had been warned might happen When I booked. I exchanged several emails and ph calls with Billy leading up to the trip, with prompt response and helpful info.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay on the Great Blasket, Billy and Killian were so helpful and very quick to reply to any queries we had. Would definitely recommend getting the boat with the lads as the views along the coast are breathtaking.
Very comfortable and clean accommodation and surprisingly warm :) Had one of the best nights sleep, only the waves and seals to keep you awake.
Thanks Lads, we will 100% be back some time
