The Space

This guest apartment is located a mile north of the central historic Plaza of Santa Fe, which is filled with unique shops and wonderful restaurants. Two blocks away is Fort Marcy park on the West side of the street, with a running field, exercise equipment and an indoor pool with lanes and classes. On the East side of the street is Artists Road which leads to the Ski Basin area (4.1 miles/9 minutes from our house). During the Fall, it's a lovely drive to see the golden Aspens.

The house is surrounded by an acre of pinon trees. The attached guest apartment is completely private, with individual access apart from the main house (there are outside Flagstone stairs), and guests may come and go as they want. The husband and wife owners are artists--a painter and a fiber artist who also creates Art Books and Jewelry Art. There are 4 1/2 Labrador Retrievers on the property and they are all very friendly and love people... and food!

The apartment itself has been renovated and redecorated, and features:

-a bedroom with a Queen-size bed
-kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, stove top, coffee pot, and a sitting area with a Futon that converts into a double bed (with an optional Memory Pad), a writing desk as well as a table that seats four people.
-utility closet with a washer/dryer, iron and ironing board.
-private, bathroom with a shower.

The floor is made of traditional Saltillo tiles.
Comcast Wireless Internet and Cable TV
Fax and copier available on site
TV/VCR/DVD and a CD/Cassette player.
Guests also have the privilege of using the artist-owner's 710-square foot studio for painting, sculpting or other artistic activities. Since the house sits on a hill, the studio's balcony overlooks the town and enjoys the wonderful sunsets.

  • The apartment was in the perfect location. Close to everything but still far enough removed to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The apartment itself is very well decorated. Very Santa Fe. I wish we could have gotten to know our hosts better. the few times we interacted with Cheryl she was very sweet. Our limited contact was due to the fact that my boyfriend and I got up early and returned late into the night. We did have the pleasure of meeting a few of her sweet dogs. Very affectionate and happy to see you. Her restaurant and attraction recommendations were spot on. Next time we visit we will be sure to try to stay here again. Thank you for the lovely visit!

  • Cheryl was generous in her hospitality and help. The conveniences of the small guest apartment was more than adequate including, microwave, coffee maker, two burners, small refrigerator, dishes, pans etc. The bed was also very comfortable.

  • This is a wonderful studio apartment to stay as it is only 1 mile from the Plaza, 15-20 minutes walk, down hill. The place is clean, well furnished, quiet and comfortable. Cheryl is an excellent host because she is kind, considerate and very helpful. She provided many useful info for exploring Santa Fe. Cheryl and her husband are very accomplished artist. If you are interested in painting, glass works, jewelry making, quilting, paper making, ... etc. you will find many inspirations here as they are very creative and generous in sharing their accomplishments.

  • We had a wonderful first mini-vacation in Santa Fe! Cheryl had many helpful suggestions. Had a great visit and Cheryl's accommodations were great.

  • Joe and I had a wonderful stay at Cheryl & Bill's. The location was perfect for us: just outside the historic district, nestled in the woods, with privacy, and a wonderful location if you are a birdwatcher. Cheryl very kindly sent us text messages a day or two before our arrival informing us of upcoming events and restaurant locations. We didn't have a bad meal our entire stay. They weren't just good meals, they were incredibly good. A foodies paradise. Osteria D'Assisi, Tomasita's, The Pantry (diner), and Tune-up Cafe were our favorites. If you enjoy the outdoors, Randall-Davey Audubon Center is very close by and we visited there numerous times. It's so peaceful and the hiking is relaxed. In the same area you'll find the Santa Fe Canyon Preserve, part of The Nature Conservancy trail system, where hiking is available. In town, I highly recommend a day set aside for Canyon Road. Be ready to get lost in a world of whimsical beauty! There was so much to enjoy within Santa Fe that we didn't venture to Taos as planned. I can most definitely see us coming back to Cheryl & Bill's. Their apartment leant itself to freedom to enjoy everything just outside our doorstep. And don't miss the Sangre de Cristo Mountains! Leaves on the aspens were changing while we were there. Breathtaking! You'll find a great pull off location to witness one of Santa Fe's majestic sunsets. Enjoy! Thank you Cheryl - (she's as sweet as can be) - for helping Joe and I to have a highly memorable vacation. Our best to you in your future endeavors. Brenda and Joe

  • We go to Santa Fe every year and we cannot think of a better place we have stayed -- and we have stayed at some great spots! Cheryl was so thoughtful and accommodating , always making sure we had what we needed, or sending thoughtful suggestions of things to do or see. The casita was so charming, very clean, spacious, charmingly decorated in a Santa Fe style and very well equipped. Cheryl thoughtfully stocked the casita with things to eat including fresh fruit and veggies from the Farmer's Market for our arrival. We love to prepare fresh food and we did not lack for anything when it came to cooking! Their Labs (dogs) were so sweet and were always excited to greet you. We were impressed with their quietness and training. We regularly walked to the Plaza (center of Santa Fe historic district) and found it a very pleasant distance. Bottom line - Cheryl and Bill were fabulous hosts and their accommodations were just perfect. A stay in Santa Fe doesn't get much better than this! Thanks so much!

  • Cheryl was awesome! The apt was very cute and cozy, even better than the pics. It is a 10 minute walk to the plaza. We loved being in the trees and sort of secluded from seeing anyone around us. Her dogs are adorable and very well mannered. Cheryl was very mindful that we had 2 dogs with us and made sure her dogs only came out in pairs (I'm not sure it was necessary) but it was very thoughtful. This was not a concern of ours but if you're in Santa Fe wanting to chill out and watch tv at the apt, there is only a tv in the bedroom. We will definitely be back!

  • Cheryl was a wonderful host and the apartment was comfortable and cozy with everything we needed! One of the best things about this location is you are only a mile from the downtown, but the house is in the hills surrounded by trees and nature. This place gives you the best of both worlds: a getaway in nature and an awesome city close-by. Plus her dogs are really cute and sweet!
