Don't ask, we will not place one. We'd like you to visit and enjoy everything the city has to offer - set up your recording devices at home before the trip.........or watch your favourite show on your tablet/laptop :) and if the game is on the best place to watch it is at Riverbend Station, the neighbourhood pub.

Contact us for special offers on extended stay/additional guest/price adjustments.

We expect you to be our GUESTS not our PATRONS. Please book elsewhere if you need concierge, doorman, valet and butler service.

Groups with 3 or more adults require a minimum 2 night stay. We will make some exceptions, please inquire first.
While we listed the space as accommodating 7, read the description carefully, at least 4 would have to be children, we only do it for families with more than 3 children that otherwise will have a hard time finding a place. This is NOT a hostel.

Children are persons, please include all members of your traveling party in the booking regardless of their age. Our insurance doesn't differentiate between a 1 day old baby or a 100 year old person. If it's alive it's a person.

Unless it's a Chia pet, ANY LIVING PETS will require our approval at booking, are subject to special conditions and an additional $35/day/pet. This is a hosting fee NOT a cleaning fee.

Guest Access

WI-FI, full kitchen, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, salt, spices, vegetable oil, etc., patio, bed-ware, towels, blankets, full bathroom, laundry(free with 3+nights stay), free street parking, designated driveway parking for elderly/guests with children.
Let us know if you're arriving late and need a few staples picked up at a grocery store.

Interaction with Guests

We will welcome you and show you the facilities and the neighbourhood if you want us to, after that all interaction is left up to you. We're there for you if you want to but we'll give you your space.

The Neighborhood

Conveniently located close to 3 shopping centers within walking distance with restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations, great pubs, banking centers and ATM's, dry cleaning, laundry drop lock and wash, parks, toddler playground, children's parks, on and off leash dog parks close by.

Getting around

Located in a quiet neighbourhood, bus is less than 30 seconds walk away. 10-15 minutes from downtown when there's no heavy traffic. Easy access to major roads.

Other Things to Note

Common sense. Please use your common sense and if unsure ask first....Like before you decide to rearrange the furniture. Or decorate the place to fit with the season or YOUR religious holiday....

One issue we found is guests taking very long showers, and/or turning the faucets at full blast every time; usually by travelers who lived all their lives in apartment buildings and whom are not familiar with residential heating/hot water heating systems in a Canadian house.
Please keep your showers short, shower BEFORE you do laundry and do NOT reset the washing machine(s) as they are set for best efficiency.
Remember that using resources excessively is looked down upon in every country when you are a guest.

  • Lulu & Alex provided a great place to stay while in Calgary! They were both easy to communicate with before and during our entire stay. Upon our arrival they made sure we had everything we needed and also provided a few places to check out while visiting. Their home was in a great location, provided all the amenities and was a perfect size for all of us, including our dog..which had a huge yard to play in :) Thanks Lulu and Alex for being great and amazingly friendly hosts. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Calgary.

  • Nice spot, quiet neighborhood. Far enough from the core so that its peacuful but only a 20 minute ride away.

  • The unit was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was a great location for anything you need to do in the east of Calgary. Lulu has 4 kids and my son loved playing with the youngest girl. I will book here again when I return to Calgary.

  • Maybe you're like us?
For a couple of years now, we've gone through many listings, in different countries, different vacations, and often considered booking through Airbnb, but never actually took the plunge. Perhaps you didn't want to risk the security, comfort and amenities that hotels offered. And maybe you just had lots of cash to burn on your vacation. Or maybe you're like us, caught in the middle of some oil & gas conference causing a cheap hotel room to cost $250/night. while the week before, your last cheap hotel room had the cops show up for a meth head, a desk clerk that said he was going to finish his cigarette before receiving us (seriously??), and the stench of smoke all throughout the non-smoking halls and rooms.

How was our first Airbnb experience?
It was everything we hoped for, or better yet, it was everything we needed. In fact, it was everything it says it is in the thorough listing. We had an infant and toddler with us, so we really enjoyed the spacious apartment. The neighbourhood itself was a great surprise! It's a quiet suburban neighbourhood just off the highway and walking distance to grocery stores and restaurants (we drove the 1-1.5 minutes ;).

To sum it up, what makes this place special is not that it was super luxurious or that it was decorated like out of an architectural magazine, but that it was very clean, comfortable, spacious, private, and everything else you need for a place to stay on your vacation.

The hosts, Lulu and Alex, were friendly and truly did treat us like guests, not patrons. At the same time, they respected our privacy, as we didn't see (or hear from) them for the next 2 days/nights (we only stayed 2 nights). I can't thank them enough for making our first Airbnb experience a great one.

Here are some "nice touches" that we didn't really expect, even though some are posted in the listing:
    - cold water bottles waiting for us in the fridge!
    - coffee, tea, sugar, whitener, cooking oil, spices, etc.
    - take out flyers of local restaurants
    - shampoo & soap (although, I guess I should have expected this)
    - powered speakers (just hooked up our phones and we had a stereo!)
    - heated floors (although, probably more noticeable/appreciated in the colder months)
    - driveway parking (although I understand it’s only because we had an infant & toddler. Street parking would have been fine (after unloading), as the neighbourhood seemed very nice.)
    - the fact that they accepted our booking only hours before our stay!

Thank you Noel, we're glad that your first airbnb experience was a positive one and we appreciate that you took the time to write such a detailed review.

  • Our host was very efficient and prompt to meet us on time. The suite was clean and neat, the beds firm but comfortable. Exactly what we needed, as we were in town for a short time for a graduation ceremony and weren't there very much. House occupants are quiet so no disturbance there. A nice touch was having bottles of water in the fridge for us. Our host offered to pick up any staple groceries we would need before our arrival, but we didn't take her up on it. I brought muffins and fruit and kept that in the fridge (which was also scrupulously clean)
There is no TV, or phone, so bring your own laptop and cell phone if you need it.

    Response from Lulu:

Thank you for your feedback. I will definitely have to do something about the shower curtain and pillows.

  • Overall we would rate this suite as poor based on the bed quality alone. The beds were very uncomfortable for us and we had two of the four of us waking up with bug bites after sleeping in the suite.

We would not recommend staying at this location.

    Response from Lulu:

The bed in the main bedroom has a new memory foam mattress. We based our decision about the mattress on 4 years and 60+ guests raving about the mattress in our guest room, so we went with the same type. It might not be perfect for everyone, but if the mattress is so important to you, make it a point that in the future, you ask about it before you book a place, any place, including hotels! EXPERIENCED TRAVELERS ALWAYS ASK!!!!!!!!!
I don't know how to comment on the bug bites, the place doesn't have one single string of carpet and we disinfect, vacuum and clean from top to bottom after each guest, but yes, there's mosquitoes in the spring due to the grass in the back yard. But keeping the doors open for an hour and a half while moving a truckload of things in couldn't possibly help not letting the mosquitoes in.
Sure we weren't too happy that you stretched our courtesy of letting you park on our driveway instead of on the street and had to tell you to park closer to the curb, but we thought that wasn't anything to be bent out of shape about, after all the description clearly states STREET PARKING.
It seems you didn't read the description when you booked and expected a condo on an upper floor and not a walk out lower floor suite but while is not the honeymoon suite at a 5 star hotel our place is not by any means misleading in it's description and the pictures are certified and verified by Airbnb.
I have no idea what warranted this poor review, more than a dozen people before you loved the place; and, we asked all of you time and time again how everything was and every time you said everything was great.
In hindsight we won't allow guests without previous reviews.

  • Suite was great for the four us visiting Calgary.
Heated floors were a bonus in the morning.
Lulu accepted our last minute booking and a few hours later we were in the unit.

  • We had a great stay at Lulu's apartment, it was spacious and clean. Communication was easy. Lulu and her partner were accommodating when we asked for an earlier check in time. We would recommend this listing to others who want to visit Calgary, especially families or small groups of friends.

My husband Alex, and I have been hosting people from all over the world for a couple of years now. It's a great way to meet people. We have 4 young kids ages 10-3 who are all curious and outgoing. Our guest room has a double bed and guests have their own washroom. As of September 1st 2013, we are renting short term our 2 bedroom suite, it comes fully furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen and for late arrivals we can shop the few staples in a grocery list you email us and have them in your fridge. We traveled extensively mostly on a budget, and lived and worked in many places and countries before and after we started a family. We both love to cook(mostly Mediterranean/N.American dishes) and entertain, sharing a meal with friends is one of our favourite activities. How would we describe ourselves? Maybe bohemian blue collar, in that we're both educated but not afraid of hard work, and, we're just as comfortable in denim or at a black tie gala LOL
