Interaction with Guests
We will welcome you and show you the facilities and the neighbourhood if you want us to, after that all interaction is left up to you. We're there for you if you need us to but we'll give you your space.
Conveniently located close to 3 shopping centers within walking distance with restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations, great pubs, banking centers and ATM's, dry cleaning, laundry drop lock and wash, parks, toddler playground, children's parks, on and off leash dog parks close by.
Located in a quiet neighbourhood, bus is within seconds walk away. Easy access to major roads, 10-15 minutes from downtown when there's no heavy traffic, which is not bad considering that Calgary's surface is comparable to the land surface of New York City.
Other Things to Note
Common sense. Please use your common sense and if unsure ask first....Like before you decide to rearrange the furniture. Or decorate the place to fit with the season or YOUR religious holiday....
And if not sure, please ask.
Although we always mentioned this in the description, a couple of previous guests seemed to think that 15 minutes drive or half an hour by transit is a little too far from downtown.
Please get informed about the place you intend to visit, you're not visiting a village in the sticks; surface wise, Calgary is the 3rd largest city in Canada and the largest in Alberta, and definitely a driving city, although Calgary Transit is excellent and the bus stop is less than 1 minute walk away.
FYI, Calgary's LAND surface(729 sq km) exceeds the land area of Toronto(630 sq km) and is comparable to the LAND surface of New York City(789 sq km).
So, 15 minutes drive or 30 minutes by transit is not a far commute for any major city in the world, but if you need to be any closer to downtown please book a different place that IS LOCATED DOWNTOWN.
Absolutely no smoking inside, clean up after yourselves immediately after use and keep the place tidy.
Do NOT rearrange the furniture! Don't take the indoor furniture outside under any circumstances, ask for extra patio tables and chairs or help yourselves from the upper deck.
There is no curfew however please be quiet after 10:30 PM so the neighbors can sleep.
Free laundry, (bring your own detergent/softener and be kind, leave a tip if you use ours). Last load goes into the washing machine no later than 8PM so it can be finished before 10PM.
No laundry after 10 PM.
No overnight guests(please book accordingly if more than 3 people will spend the night).
No guests after 10:30 PM unless they're included in your booking.
Small pets will require our approval at booking and are subject to additional hosting fees.
Lulu and her husband were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome into their home. The suite was very large, clean and all the comforts of home. Thank you so much for everything.
Lulu and her family were very welcoming to our family of 6 into their home. I would suggest those who do book with children pack an electric skillet since chances are you and your kids won't be eating out every meal since it can be expensive, but other than that everything was amazing. The space was clean and tidy.
Overall, our firm's two staff members were overall impressed with this accommodation. They found it to be clean, spacious and well-maintained. Great location, but bus transportation does not come as frequently as our guests would have liked. As a host, Lulu was very responsive, pleasant and accessible to any inquiries or questions we had. This was a very positive booking experience.
Although Calgary Transit is excellent, Calgary is definitely a driving city. After all it does have the land surface of New York City but it lacks it's subway system.
Unless their accommodations were within walking distance from work, Alecs and Ishtiaque would've had a hard time by transit anywhere else in the city after 7 PM.
Our place is 15-20 minutes drive from downtown and 20-25 minutes from the airport but that's not the case when you take the transit and have to change the bus and LRT....
In the end they seemed to be ok taking a taxi to and from work.
Lulu was very accommodating to let us in on Christmas Day. The suite was spacious and had every possible convenience. Unfortunately we found the beds and couches to be very uncomfortable. If not for that we would've stayed longer and booked the suite every time we visit Calgary.
Laura, I liked you dearly at checking in, I knew you loved the place and I had no idea until I read your review why you cut your trip short.
I'm writing this not to upset or insult you but with all the love, kindness and consideration for you in your future travels and other future guests so that this situation can hopefully be avoided.
The couches are sitting only couches and not meant for sleeping on. I looked for them specifically that way so less responsible younger guests won't puppy pile or sleep on them. I noticed that one of you had tried to sleep on it and no, unless you're a teenager, immortal young adult or a little person I wouldn't recommend it unless you like to be in pain.
As for the bed,
After doing some research, I genuinely believe you when you say that the bed was uncomfortable for you. In fact it explained your leaving a day early.
After I read your comment I realized that while every guest praised the type of bed/mattress for the past 4 years(we had the exact type mattress in our guest room), we did had 1 previous complaint about it, but at the time I thought it was malicious and ill intended due to a parking misunderstanding; however, looking back at that 1 single complaint, they too were people on the larger size. And, they too carried themselves very well and were comfortable in their own skin and probably just like you, never had this issue before.
In the listing, I described the place as having a double bed, and 2 single beds, I know that the bed in question has a quality, high density memory foam mattress, but it never occurred to me to ask anyone before, and, as you can imagine, for political correctness reasons, I can't really ask people how much they weigh or if they'd fit with their spouse on a double bed.
Also, everyone is different, I'm basing my decisions(like the decission to buy a mattress) on the senses of my body - that exact bed for me is so comfortable that I'd fall asleep just sitting on it.
By no means am I trying to hurt your feelings, pass the blame or the oversight; I'm writing this with all the kindness and consideration, trying to help you and others - maybe for your next booking do a little more research, be sure to ask about the mattress, it's type and thickness, and maybe book a King size bed instead of a double, because it is important to you and it wouldn't be as inappropriate as a host asking the guests their height/weight ratio.
I am so sorry for your inconvenience and you loosing a day of your trip, I wish there were something I could do about it but hopefully this will fix the oversight for the future.
Happy trails! Lulu
Nice spacious and clean place with all what you need, near bus stops and about 5 minutes walk to a plaza.
Lulu was welcoming and caring.
It was a nice experience to stay at this place.
We had a great time staying here. Everything was just as expected and we had no issues at all.

My husband Alex, and I have been hosting people from all over the world for a few years now. It's a great way to meet people. We have 4 young kids who are all curious and outgoing. Our guest room has a double bed and guests have their own washroom.
As of September 1st 2013, we are also renting short term our 2 bedroom suite, it comes fully furnished, with a fully equipped kitchenette with wet bar and for late arrivals we can shop the few staples in a grocery list you email us and have them in your fridge.
We traveled extensively mostly on a budget, and lived and worked in many places and countries before and after we started a family.
We both love to cook(mostly Mediterranean/N.American dishes) and entertain, sharing a meal with friends is one of our favourite activities.
How would we describe ourselves? Maybe bohemian blue collar, in that we're both educated but not afraid of hard work, and, we're just as comfortable in denim or at a black tie gala LOL
