The space

At our comfortable Casa you will enjoy privacy, quiet and relaxation all within a short walk to the main attractions. We are offering two spare bedrooms in our comfortable 3 bedroom 3.5 bath home. This listing is for the downstairs bedroom which has two twin beds, large private bathroom, T.V., fireplace with gas starter and floor to ceiling glass doors opening onto the patio.

***If you prefer a king bed you may rent our 3rd bedroom for the same price. It is a large room with a king bed, large closet, vanity, desk, armoire and private bathroom. It does not contain a fireplace nor a t.v., though you can find those in the living room. Please specify which room you would like in your reservation request.

We are just 1.5 blocks from the main plaza (Plaza Grande), a 10 minute walk to public transportation in Plaza Chica, and only 5 minutes to the Basilica, Los Once Patios, museum and cultural centers. Restaurants and shopping are all within walking distance as well.

This location is perfect for those who want to be close to where it’s all happening, but don’t want the noise and crowds of staying at either of the Plazas. Everything you need is within walking distance and for those who prefer not to walk, taxis are very affordable and can be obtained at the end of the block.

We will gladly help you enjoy your stay in Patzcuaro by providing tips on traveling, day trips, private and public transportation options, guides, food and events.

This was a beautiful home filled with regional art and handcrafts. We enjoyed the interior patio and views of the neighborhood from the roof. A little convenience store was just a few steps away and a tiny hidden restaurant was right across the street, serving steaming pisole on the weekends. So close to the center and dozens of restaurants, we went downtown several times a day, sometimes just to sit in the beautiful Plaza and people watch.

We really enjoyed our stay. Pictures accurate to booking. Patricia's manager Mariela's was so wonderful and helpful. She aided in booking a driver for us to sightsee. She was there to answer any questions. House was so roomy and comfortable and so were the two single beds!! Water pressure was the only shortcoming in shower downstairs. Extra toiletries available which was great as luggage was lost by airline. We didn't need kitchen much but it was clean and fully stocked with all equipment. The location was wonderful and quiet from any city noise. Would happily come back.

A beautiful, artfully designed space with the coziest beds. Very responsive, flexible, and a great value. Super walkable and close to the center of Patzcuaro as well. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

I loved everything about our stay at Casa de Nana Ree. Paty was prompt in accepting my booking request and answering all of my questions, and while she is not on site, she still made sure that our stay was perfect through Mariela (who is amazing). I cannot say enough good things about this place. Honestly, the pictures do not do justice to the detail and beauty of this home. I highly recommend staying here. I definitely will be looking to book again next time I am in Patzcuaro. Thank you, Paty and Mariela!

I never got to see Patricia as she lives in the US. However Mariela, her house helper, was here to welcome me. Super sweet and very helpful. I was there with my dog and she was very happy to have a dog guest for the first time. The house has more than you will need Patricia was always very prompt to replly to any of my emails The house location could not be better I had a whole house to myself and when I was actually just paying for one bedroom! Awesome

Casa de Nana Ree is beautiful with fabulous art in every room. The entire house is a show place with carefully selected art and craft pieces that reflect both eclectic good taste and an ironic sense of humor. The house is quite comfortable and very well appointed, with everything you could need immediately at hand. The owner no longer lives in Mexico but answers any and all questions via email, seemingly within minutes. And if you need more first hand assistance (which you probably will not) her excellent property manager lives just minutes away and is tirelessly and cheerfully attentive. My one and only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Patzquaro is a lovely town and there are any number of easy day trips out of town. We stayed 6 days; we could have easily filled 10. Thank you Patricia and Mariela, a great stay!

Once upon a time I was translocated to Patzcuaro, Michoacan for a year of my life. I enjoyed exploring Mexico and all it´s food, culture and diversity, met really wonderful people there and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the ´off the beaten track´ destinations and attractions that only living in a place for a length of time can afford. I started sharing my love of Michoacan and Patzcuaro in particular with anyone who came our way, and although life has called me back to California indefinitely, I still love sharing Patzcuaro with anyone who is interested. So now I manage Casa de Nana Ree from afar with the help of our invaluable caretaker and wonderful housekeeper in Patzcuaro.

I started meeting other travelers several years ago as I hosted couch surfers from all over the world in my (then) home in Santa Cruz, Ca. Airbnb was the logical next step as I gradually desired more security, comfort and privacy both as a traveler and host. 'Surfing' someone's couch is all about sharing your community with travelers and I have tried to apply that to our Casa as well. We have done our best to leave you comfortable AND informed - because the best things about visiting a new place are often the ones you wouldn´t ever know about unless someone told you!

Being an experienced myself, I know it's the little things that make a place special. I treasure good music, delicious food (especially Mexican street food), interesting people, conversations and of course, wandering aimlessly whenever I can! So in the spirit of fellow travelers, we open the doors of our Patzcuaro Casa in hopes that others can enjoy a taste of the tranquilidad, cultura y amistad that is so prevalent in small town Mexico.
