Wow! What an amazing house! My sister, a friend and I stayed here while vacationing through Mexico. We rented the patio room and the blue room. Communication with Patricia was great, she responded quickly and communication was easy. She got me in contact with the house manager, Mariela, who was extra helpful. Mariela met up with us to give us the keys and show us around the house. The house is huge! Beautiful decorations throughout, and fully stocked. The location is great-- only a short 5 minute walk to the main plaza, a central location for transportation to other attractions. The neighborhood is very safe, near shopping, restaurants, street food, and churches. This was my second time in Patzcuaro, I will definitely be back and looking forward to staying in Casa de Nana Ree again!
Amazing place. The house is beautiful, a couple minutes walk from the main plaza where there is food and shopping. Mariela met with us very flexibly in order to hand over the keys and explain everything to us. During low season, we were the only ones in the huge house so we had it to ourselves. Amazing balcony upstairs with a table to eat/drink. Parking directly outside the front door, very safe at night. Great place, will gladly return.
This place was so amazing, that we immediately added another night to our booking... Lovely folk art details throughout the house, warm welcome from the housekeeper, reviews of local restaurants to advise you on the local dining, incredibly comfortable beds, convenient location in town. I absolutely highly recommend!
wow wow wow- I absolutely loved this place. The house is beautiful and very comfortable to be in. Great location, too- just around the corner from the main plaza. I originally booked 2 nights but then added on 2 more nights immediately after arriving. I cannot say enough nice things about this place- the bed was super comfty and soft. There was a blender was available so I could pick up fruits at the market and make my own smoothies. A beautiful rooftop terrace, TV (cable and netflix available). Highly recommend this place. (I was hesitant to leave this review in fear that I won't be able to get this room next time I'm in town!) :) Patricia was wonderful in responding quickly and she also recommended Ulises for a massage- I got one at the house and it was f a n t a s t i c! Probably the best I've ever had (and I've had tons of massages!)
I love Patzcuaro, too- the people there made me feel welcome.
Tout s'est très bien passé, le logement a vraiment beaucoup de charme, tout est mis à disposition1 Merci!!

About the Host, Patricia
Nathan and I are two Californians who were translocated to Patzcuaro, Michoacan for a year of our lives. We enjoyed exploring Mexico and all it´s food, culture and diversity. We met really wonderful people there and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the ´off the beaten track´ destinations and attractions that only living in a place for a length of time can afford. We started sharing our love of Michoacan and Patzcuaro in particular with anyone who came our way, and although life has called us back to California indefinitely, I still love sharing Patzcuaro with anyone who is interested. So now I manage Casa de Nana Ree from afar with the help of our invaluable caretaker and wonderful housekeeper in Patzcuaro.
Nathan and I started meeting other travelers several years ago as we hosted couch surfers from all over the world in our home in Santa Cruz, Ca. Airbnb was the logical next step as we gradually desired more security, comfort and privacy both as travelers and hosts. 'Surfing' someone's couch is all about sharing your community with travelers and we have tried to apply that to our Casa as well. We have done our best to leave you comfortable AND informed - because the best things about visiting a new place are often the ones you wouldn´t ever know about unless someone told you!
Being experienced travelers ourselves, we know it's the little things that make a place special. We love good music, delicious food (especially Mexican street food), interesting people, conversations and of course, wandering aimlessly whenever we can! So in the spirit of fellow travelers, we open the doors of our Patzcuaro Casa in hopes that others can enjoy a taste of the tranquilidad, cultura y amistad that is so prevalent in small town Mexico.
