Stay at the Heart of Old San Juan! This charming 1BR apartment is right at the center of the Historic District, equipped with a full kitchen and bathroom, perfect for a nice vacation and the "living local" experience. Ideal for couples or families with children (accommodates approx. 2-4 people), we offer a Full size bed and a Full size futon –in the living room… an extra “mini” futon can accommodate an additional small child-. Central AC, Wireless Internet, TV, marble floors and ample closet space are among its many amenities; in addition, our guests can enjoy a read at the rooftop deck or some quiet time at the building’s indoor patio.
This apartment, located in Calle San José, offers easy access to every restaurant and shop in Old San Juan. Situated behind the Old San Juan Cathedral and a block from the El Convento Hotel, it is only a couple of blocks away from the Plaza de Armas –where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with the locals-, SJ City Hall, the Fortaleza –Governor’s Mansion- and the Calle San Sebastián – famous for its yearly Festival de la Calle San Sebastián. It is walking distance to historic sites like the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, the Castillo San Cristobal and the traditional Parque de las Palomas. A short walk will take you to the beautiful Paseo La Princesa and the Old San Juan Port.
A few notes:
1. This apartment is on the third (3rd) floor and there are no elevators in the building...
2. It is an "inside" apartment, it doesn't have a balcony or windows looking out to the street.
3. Old San Juan has all the charm of an old historic town, but it also has the very old water supply system. You may encounter issues with inconsistent water pressure and sometimes NO water service at all. This usually resolves itself in a couple hours at the most; however, it may be possible that it’ll take longer… unfortunately, there’s nothing to do other than wait until it comes back.
**When EXITING the apartment, make sure that you turn off the AC, electronics, lights, appliances, etc. It's the "green" thing to do!
**CHECK-IN hour is after 3PM; CHECK-OUT hour is before 12PM. Special arrangements may be made, if requested and if availability permits.
**This is a NON-SMOKING property. You can go to the rooftop or other outdoor areas if you want to smoke.... Also, the use of drugs is PROHIBITED! After all, they are illegal :)
**If you like to PARTY, there are plenty of bars and clubs around town; parties at the apartment are NOT permitted.
We had a wonderful time in Old San Juan. Yayra was great. She was able to answer any questions we had and even welcomed us with a tasty beverage. The apartment was cozy and just as described.
Old San Juan at your doorstep -- indeed! Anything you want to see and do in Old San Juan is walking distance from the apartment. Your morning coffee is just a few steps away in plaza de armas. Lunch and dinner will be no problem, as many of Old San Juan's dining options are nearby as well.
The apartment itself was clean, described accurately, and very affordable considering the location. The air conditioning works amazingly - something you will appreciate if you spend enough time in the humidity of San Juan.
Also, there is something to be said for Yayra's checkin and checkout process. It was easily the most seamless Airbnb experience I've had. She also sends a list of great places to eat and things to see and do nearby the apartment.
You can't go wrong!
We had a wonderful time staying at Yayra's apartment in Old San Juan. Apartment is as in picture and described - a very nice, comfortable and clean apartment. The neighborhood is in excellent location, close to attractions, stores and restaurants. Yayra had left welcome drinks (water, soda, rum) in the fridge, making feel right at home. Yarya was really good at keeping in contact with us before the stay and answered any questions we had. Excellent Apartment!!!
Amazing trip and all thanks to this beautiful apartment in Old San Juan!
Upon arrival it was immediately clear that I should have paid more attention in high school Spanish class; the cabbie at the airport needed to use my gps to find the place because "The roads are one way..." but the standard rate of $27 got us to the building. The place is gated to ensure safety (a plus for our peace of mind) and the keys were right where they were supposed to be.
There is a 3rd floor walk up and I wish I had done some aerobics to prepare. Only issue was a couple of loose steps (THE SUPER SHOULD ADDRESS THIS IMMEDIATELY.) A squirt of graphite would help the tumblers on the bolt, but all functioned well.
The AC was mercifully cool! Can't emphasize how great it was to have a place to cool down right there in downtown!! Plenty of space and the furniture was comfy. My wife still says that this was the most comfortable bed she has ever slept in, a little firm and could be bigger in my opinion (full size).
I loved the location, with bars & restaurants right there (fyi "La Tortuga" was the best! Breakfast & Pizza) near the city hall square and equal distance from Morro fort & La Princessa.
Apartment had plenty of kitchen to cook in and was well stocked. Highly recommend this place! Thank you Yayra!
The apartment was nicely located in Old San Juan. Close to A LOT of beautiful things to look at including two AMAZING old forts but a little away from a lot of people traffic. The bed was a bit small for a 5'11" tall person but it was workable. I wish the shower had more pressure but didn't mind that much for knew it was saving water which is always important. It was nice to be able to cook meals in the apartment to save money so to be able to do more around Puerto Rico. It was our little home for 12 days and HAPPY to call it home! I miss being there and would stay there again!
Staying at Yayra's Old San Juan apartment was a great finish to our adventures in Puerto Rico. The apartment is a great blend between modern and classic (just like the old city itself). Yayra and her family were great hosts. The apartment was spotless and the check-in/out was easy as can be. Also, the complimentary drinks that awaited us were a nice touch. We highly recommend staying here. Be sure to visit Don Ruiz Roastery (located at the Museo de las Americas) during your stay. It is one of the best cafes we've ever been to. There are many other local gems hidden on back streets and side streets, so don't be afraid to wander!
Muchas Gracias Yayra!
I stayed here by myself for 3 nights.
The apartment was exactly as billed. The location could not have been better for my purposes--being a groomsman in my friend's wedding at the San Juan Cathedral. It is literally across the street from the back of the cathedral, so it was perfect for that. It is also within walking distance of all of Old San Juan.
The apartment was clean and well-furnished. All of the systems, including the A/C, worked well. Although I did not use it all that much, the kitchen was pretty well stocked with pots, pans, etc. As is set out in the listing, there are no exterior windows. However, for sleeping that is a plus since it keeps the place very quiet.
As for hosting, Yayra was very responsive throughout the process, replying quickly to email questions.
Overall, this was a very good rental. I felt very pleased with my choice to stay here rather than the Sheraton Old San Juan.
I am a singer/musician, originally from San Juan PR although now living in Los Angeles, CA. One of the things I enjoy the most in life is traveling; being able to travel, explore new places and learn from other cultures have made me the person I am today. There are just a few things that make me as happy as traveling -family/friends, music, literature, photography- which is why I love sharing stories and experiences everywhere I go and with anyone I meet that wants to listen.
Through this rental property, I want to give you the opportunity to explore and experience one of my favorite places in the World: OLD SAN JUAN. In all my travels I have been to many amazing places and Old San Juan never ceases to amaze me with its history, beauty and rich culture... plus, yummy food and great shopping! I can only hope you give yourself the opportunity to "live like a local" in this wonderful old town. You won't regret it!
Please, contact me with any inquiries, questions, etc. -email is always the best option-. I will answer you message or call -to the best of my ability- within 24 hrs.
Thank you... Happy and Safe Travels!
