Our one bedroom cottage located in the Santa Cruz Mountains on a gated property, is a beautiful and comfortable place to relax and unwind. It sleeps 2 - 4 people, with 2 in the queen bed in the bedroom and 1 or 2 in the (full size) fold-out hide-a-bed in the living room There is also a single pad with bedding available for inside or outside deck sleeping. Inside the cottage there is a large flat screen TV with cable, a DVD player, and a selection of movies and DSL Internet. There is also a stereo system and a collection of CD's. We have a full kitchen with an antique gas stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, an assortment of tea's, coffee, basic condiments, and the tap water from our well is safe and excellent to drink. There is a wood burning stove in the living room with plenty of wood and the walls are adorned with vintage rock & roll posters. On the deck we have a jacuzzi hot tub, a gas barbecue, and patio furniture. There are large, clear skylights that afford a view of the redwoods while offering beautiful lighting. All linens and towels are provided. Adjacent to the cottage are two hammocks and a Chartres labyrinth in the middle of a redwood circle.
For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A cozy cottage nestled in the redwood forest, 10 minutes off of HWY 1 (Pacific Coast Highway), the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz, and 6 minutes from HWY 17.
People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world-class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day, you can return home to your private cottage nestled in the quiet redwoods.
The weather here is excellent. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off at the ocean early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. It is truly amazing to stand on the labyrinth in the middle of 200 foot redwoods. There are 4 or 5 excellent restaurants within 15 minutes of our home.
The caretaker/owner Jay and Linda live on the property, along with a dog and 2 cats. We are excited about sharing this slice of heaven nestled in the redwoods.

Wonderful place to shack up for the weekend! We loved that you can stare up at the wildlife in the trees through enormous skylights in the house and the outdoor jacuzzi. Jay & Linda were super gracious and their place is beautiful. Hope to return soon!
Jay and Linda were so hospitable and welcoming! They showed us around the house as soon as we arrived, which was the cutest and coziest little cottage in the woods! All in all we had an amazing experience here and would definitely rent this place again! The cottage is even better in person than it is in pictures and comes fully equipped with all supplies and amentities that you'd need! Thanks for a wonderful weekend Jay and Linda!
We absolutely loved staying at Jay and Linda's! The house is beautiful and warm, and a night in the hot tub looking up at the massive red woods is pretty unbeatable!
Jay and Linda were amazing hosts! Showed us everything we needed to know about the cabin and also gave us great tips for stuff to do in Santa Cruz.
The cabin itself was beautiful. The skylights, the fireplace, the hot tubs, were incredible. It was really peaceful staying out there and I would definitely love to come back!
We LOVED this place! Jay and Linda have a great piece of property. The cottage was very cozy and well stocked- it was as great as it looks. They were wonderful hosts- they gave us good directions, and were there to meet us when we arrived- they also had a fire and bottle of wine waiting for us!
We loved the posters and the giant skylights (which let a lot of light in and let us enjoy the surrounding redwoods). Overall, the setting is just incredible and the cottage was really comfortable. The jacuzzi tub set into the deck was by far our favorite feature!
There is a little corner store nearby for the basics, and the town of Soquel is close by- we were looking to get away from things and relax for a few days- so we stayed in every night and cooked dinner, listened to cd's, and drank wine by the fire (it was perfect). We spent one day mountain biking at the Soquel Demonstration State Forest, which is about 30 minutes away. I can't say enough good things about this place- we hope to come back in the future and do some more exploring of the area.
This was one of the best, most memorable getaways we've ever experienced. The cottage is truly magical - clean, cozy with unforgettable details like a wood burning stove, old piano, beautiful skylights and outdoor bathtub. The surrounding redwood forest is so peaceful, and all amazingly close to town and other attractions. We already can't wait to book another trip back.
Jay and Linda were so accommodating and exceptionally warm, welcoming and helpful. We felt immediately at ease and taken care of, then left to enjoy the privacy and tranquility of this special place.
After accidentally leaving our suitcase at the house, Jay was super gracious, offering to meet us halfway (we ended up driving back, and he kept the luggage safe and sound)!
This is a MUST visit getaway that will steal your heart! Thank you Jay and Linda for sharing this little slice of heaven.
Jay and Linda were very accommodating when we arrived in giving us a fantastic tour and guided instructions on how to use appliances. They checked in with us during our stay to ensure we were content and asked if there was anything we needed. The cottage is a compact yet spacious, fully stocked, groovy, and nestled right below a group of redwoods which makes for a relaxing time and peaceful environment to hang out on the wonderful deck. The cottage makes for a fantastic getaway as it has a unique charm and homey feeling. We enjoyed to speakers throughout the cottage as well as on the deck and the option for plug in internet. We truly had a great time during out stay and plan to visit again soon. Thank you Jay and Linda for the fabulous hospitality!
