For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A cozy cottage nestled in the redwood forest, 10 minutes off of HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWay), the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and 6 minutes from HWY 17.
People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world-class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to your cottage nestled in the quiet redwoods.
The weather here is excellent. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off at the ocean early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. It is truly amazing to stand on the labyrinth in the middle of 200 foot redwoods. There are 4 or 5 excellent restaurants within 15 minutes of our home.
The caretaker/owner Jay and Linda live on the property, along with a dog and 2 cats. We are excited about sharing this slice of heaven nestled in the redwoods.
Thank you, Jay and Linda! The cottage was beautiful, warm, quiet, the view was beautiful, and the Internet was suprisingly fast for an are that has no cell service. I would have no hesitations booking another relaxing weekend there!
Jay and Linda are two very kind and respectful people who have a beautiful property nettled in the woods. The location is great, a 10-15 minute drive to downtown Capitola and Soquel. The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything I needed to stay in and BBQ and cook with my boyfriend. We loved the old vintage rock posters and enjoyed their fabulous music collection. It rained the whole time we were there so we spend the whole two days playing games, sitting by the fire and enjoying their hot tub. Overall, it was a great romantic trip and I would highly suggest this hidden jem. We will be coming back in the summer!
A wonderful, quiet and peaceful place in the majestic redwoods. Jay and Linda were wonderful hosts, helpful, warm and gracious. We brought a visitor from Scotland who enjoyed the California coast, very accessible from the cabin. We have used airbnb on numerous occasions and this cabin has so far been our favorite!
Wow...we had the best weekend! The cottage is cozy and fun. And the location is beautiful. We loved the feeling of being secluded in the redwoods but yet we were just a few minutes from beaches and other attractions of Santa Cruz and Capitola. Cannot wait to return....which we are already planning!
Jay and Linda were such gracious hosts! When we arrived, they greeted us and showed us all the how-to's of the cottage. The jacuzzi was wonderful, and it's great that the stereo system plays outside while you're in there. They have all the basic necessities in the kitchen, so if you'd like to cook your own meals, they make it easy. The cabin itself was very cozy, the bed was comfortable, and we loved the shower. Unfortunately, it was raining the entire weekend, so we didn't get too much time to explore, but the surroundings are beautiful! We will definitely stay at the cottage again!
We stayed in the cottage 2 nights with our 17 months old son. He had fun playing with pine cones, sticks running in fresh air, splashing in the tub on the patio during the day and he played with sand on the beach in Capitola village.(very beautiful place with shops, restaurants and the beach!)
We loved to fall asleep looking at the stars and trees through the giant skylight in the ceiling. The hot tub experience was very romantic and beautiful. Stars, trees, candles and clean warm water. The hot tub on the patio is chlorine free as you will fill it yourself and drain it yourself which makes it different from hotel hot tubs which smell and have chlorine.
The cottage is clean. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen and all house had all natural cleanings supplies, shampoos, honey, sugar and etc.
The woods are beautiful. The trees are so tall, you can hear birds. There is no phone network there which was good for us to reconnect with each other. There is wire internet and no wireless and we never asked for it as we liked the idea of being in connection with each other and nature. Safeway and other stores are 10 mins away.
Lovely place. I recommend it! Clean, comfortable, romantic. Books, magazines, dvds for adults and kids, board games.
My two girlfriends and I stayed at this cottage for two nights at the end of December to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. By the second evening we were all commenting on how it felt like home. Jay is welcoming and respectful, the perfect host. We will be back again.
Wow! This place was perfect. It's nestled away in the redwoods of Soquel, has a fireplace, a jacuzzi on the back porch, huge skylights, and some of the coolest decor I've seen. A short walk will bring you to St. Clare's retreat with some hiking trails. A short drive will spit you out into town.
I feel that this is one of the best places my wife and I have stayed through Airbnb. It was just such a relaxed escape. Highly recommended!
Cute little cottage in the woods. Jay was super hospitable and even had a fire going for us when we arrived! The bathtub on the deck was also amazing.
Jay was very responsive to our needs/wants. The cottage was beautiful, clean, and had a variety of little extras (basic cooking supplies, robes, fire wood ready to go, etc.) that made the trip very pleasant.
