Enjoy the unobstructed view of the woods behind the house. Sleep in a quiet house. Hear no street noise, only birds. Stroll through the yard to enjoy two water features and a flowing stream. The yard is an amenity for you to enjoy.
Store your refrigerated items in our garage refrigerator, set aside just for guests. Sip coffee in our free coffee/tea bar, while strolling through our park-like grounds, observing the birds, walking over our footbridges and watching and listening to the stream. The property features several fountains.
Your room is located on the second floor of a large, elegant home in a gated community. Use the free wifi to get caught up on your email. Make yourself a cup of coffee or tea on the house. Need to wash some clothes? Laundry services are available. See host re: pricing.
Within 2 miles are restaurants, coffee shops, beauty salons, spas, medical services and shopping. UAB and downtown Birmingham are only about 15 miles away. While there is no public transportation, bicycles are available for rent. There are parks within one-half mile. The home is located across the street from a golf course and sits on a private lot.
Come enjoy this lovely home, and have a good night's rest.
Guests will have access to my property, the nearby park and walking trails. There is one garage space available, which is granted to only one guest (sorry). You might get lucky and get it! Otherwise, enter through the side yard in the garage. Turn off the alarm in the coffee/tea room, and put your keys on the key rack. Then turn right into the kitchen. You'll see a staircase. Walk up the staircase to your room.
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy meeting new people.
The neighborhood is stately, sophisticated, and elegant. Regulated by strict rules, each homeowner maintains their homes with exquisite taste.
The best way to get around is by automobile.
Other Things to Note
My house and yard was featured in Shelby Living Magazine. It was also featured in The Birmingham News, (website hidden)_landscaping_success_donna_f.html.
We ask guests arrive before 10 p.m. This is a private home, so we ask that you respect the owner by being considerate, neat, quiet and thoughtful. Do not enter the owner's bedroom. Park on the lower driveway. Knock on the library door before entering to borrow a book. Use the garage refrigerator to store your groceries.
Donna was great! She made sure I got I to the house and stayed up since I was getting there kind of late. Very clean and quiet place. Free coffee and tea, too!
Donna is THE best host!! Tea, coffee, a chocolate on my pillow! And whoa the space is luxurious, spacious, set with acres of trees out the window. The sound of running water in the brook is soothing. Hands down-the best place I have ever stayed at during 20 years of global travel.
What a wonderful, wonderful host and home. You will love it as much as we did. We stay at Donna's home for 8 days and were loathed to leave. We had a large, comfortable room, bed, walk-in closet, private bath, separate refrigerator to store or food. We cooked all our breakfasts, several dinners in a lovely, spacious kitchen. The house is quite large and you can hardly tell other people live in the house. The back yard is wooded and goes down and up a hill, has a stream running through it and a large patio and walkway into the wooded back yard. You'll love this AirBnB as much as we did.
What a wonderful stay! Donna is an incredible host, so warm and generous, and I had a fantastic time at her place. It was my first time in Alabama and now I'm determined to return!
Donna is an elegant and generous person and her house is a reflection of her. This stay has every creature comfort one could hope for. Highly recommended!
If you find yourself in Birmingham, I highly suggest Donna's listing! Her home is beautiful and the perfect place to start and end your day. Sadly, I wasn't able to meet Donna, but her friend Bill - who is incredibly sweet - greeted and entertained us. He even played us a song on the piano! On our first morning, we made ourselves a cup of coffee (there's also a large selection of tea), sat in the screened in porch area, and looked out over the incredible backyard with Tux, the cat, curled up in our laps. Truly a great start to our morning.
The location is also convenient, it seems everything you could need is only 20 min away or less by car. There's a key to the bedroom door if you're concerned about your belongings, but we didn't find it necessary to use it. All in all, I would certainly stay at Donna's home again!
An amazing stay with a great host and a beautiful house. Your doing yourself a disservice if you don't stay with Donna.
