Private BR in eclectic home!

House - Private room · W 73rd St, Cleveland, OH 44102, United States

Your bedroom is in a colorful, artsy century home located within walking distance of the trendy Gordon Square Arts District and Edgewater Park. Convenient to downtown and public transit, which will take you straight to the airport. A vegan paradise!

The Space

We are located (email hidden)ly part of Cleveland known as Detroit Shoreway or Gordon Square Arts District. It is full of restaurants and bars, art galleries, a movie theater and avant-garde live theater (Cleveland Public Theater), cafes and more all within walking distance. You can also stroll or bike to Edgewater Park on the shores of Lake Erie quite easily. Public transportation to downtown or the airport is within a five minute walk, or you can drive to downtown or the Westside Market in about the same amount of time. You can get to the trendy Tremont neighborhood in about 15 minutes by bike.

Our home was built in the early 20th century and has been very well preserved with dark wood and leaded glass throughout and you can see from the photos that it is very colorful. The eclectic kitchen is the central hub of activity in our home, while the living room is the perfect spot for conversation, kicking back and putting your feet up. We will be happy to provide a light breakfast of coffee or tea, fruit, toast and jam. We do occasionally prepare something more elaborate like pancakes or waffles on Sundays. We’ve got a front porch perfect for sipping an afternoon refreshment and a back porch to watch the fireflies come out at dusk or to take a snooze in the hammock.

Your room is on the second floor and has a new memory foam mattress and very easy access to the second floor shared bathroom. We do not own a TV, so the house is usually quiet most of the time. We do have air conditioning, however, we typically turn it on only when the heat goes above about 80 degrees. So if you need to be in a very cool environment, then ours might not be the best choice for you.

We have everything you could need for your comfort: iron, hair dryer, towels, washer and dryer, wireless internet, mini-fridge in your room, etc. If you need something else, just ask! We use only natural and organic toiletries and prefer that our guests do the same. If you do not currently use this type of product, you are welcome to use ours. Parking is on the street. Usually safe, but we do not recommend leaving anything of value in your vehicle. We can accommodate you in the driveway if you prefer. Our schedule is typically up around 8 and in bed by 11.

We have a very adorable four-year-old Italian Greyhound mix named Flaco. He loves to be around people and you will probably fall in love with him.

Guest Access

Mi casa es su casa! Our home is your home! You are welcome to enjoy any of the common areas: entire first floor and front and back porches/patio. The kitchen can be used to prepare vegan or vegetarian meals.

Interaction with Guests

Alejandro works from home and is around quite a bit. We are flexible as far as interaction goes. We do love to learn about you and tell you about our wonderful city and all that there is to see and do, but we also respect those who prefer a little more privacy.

  • Just as advertised. Clean and tidy accomodations. Very pleasant bedroom, spacious shared bath. Flaco, the small dog, is cute/friendly and never a bother. The hosts are very helpful providing a file bin of current tourist brochures, suggestions on itineraries (e.g., jogging routes, local food fare), and are flexible regarding check-in and check-out times. Breakfast was just as advertised and is often homemade (e.g., freshly baked cinnamon scones). A value and a friendly, safe, accomodating experience. Highly recommended.

  • Loved my stay with Jeanne and Alejandro (and their adorable dog, Flaco!). They both made me so welcome and right at home even though I was in and out a lot for work. Jeanne also makes the best vegan apple walnut pancakes. Ever. Hands down! :)
I hope to be back the next time I'm in Cleveland!

  • Thank you so much for hosting me on my trip to Cleveland. Your place was comfortable, clean, and inviting. It was a pleasure meeting you both and Flaco and thanks for the restaurant suggestions! Had a great time. Thanks#

  • This is my first time to try this website and I'm totally in love with it now! I spent a Thanksgiving holiday with my boyfriend in Jeanne and Alex's house. They are awesome people. They gave us ride to downtown and even took us to their family's Thanksgiving dinner. We had a wonderful time staying on the second floor of their artsy and cozy house. The neighborhood is quiet but a bit creepy at night so we usually went home early. Flacco is one of the friendliest dog I've ever seen, so cute and sticky :) We recommend this housing to everyone staying in Cleveland!

  • From the moment we stepped through the front door at Jeanne and Alex's home, we felt welcome and at home. They are wonderful people who make your stay comfortable and cozy. It's a very short walk to Detroit Avenue where you can find lots of different restaurants and a great coffee shop with good food. Jeanne and Alex are knowledgeable about the city and we enjoyed spending time with them over breakfast. A great place to stay. Easy to get from here to highways to cut across town to get to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Art Museum.
    Thanks Airbnb.

  • Jeanne and Alex host me for a couple of months in Cleveland and it was a great experience. Really had a good time with them. They are always open to talk and very easy-going people. I learned about vegan food and the vegan chocolate cake which Jeanne cooks is delicious. Thanks for making my stay easy and enjoyable!

  • Jeanne was friendly and helpful. The room was convenient and timely for us. Our favorite part was an impromptu morning coffee on the front porch close to sunrise. Thanks, Jeanne!

  • We stayed with Jeanne and Alex while in town for a design festival. The location was absolutely perfect and 4 of us girls took over the 3rd floor. The house is absolutely adorable and Jeanne & Alex are the coolest, nicest and most accommodating people EVER. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Jeanne and Alex are friendly, helpful, laid-back hosts. Their house is lovely and very comfortable, with plenty of nooks to curl up in.

Be sure to note that guests are not given a key, so if you're doing much coming and going, plan your days in advance and plan on being willing to compromise.

Cereal and yogurt are available for breakfast, and we were served an awesome vegan lunch on the day of our arrival.

Lula the chihuahua is a sweet, quiet thing--you will fall in love.

    Thanks for the restful stay!

About
Alejandro and I are artists and gardeners, conservationists, creators, travelers, vegans, and lovers of life. We are constantly creating something in the kitchen, or behind the camera, or in the garden, or just about anywhere! We like to take the time to sit down for at least one meal with our guests. Alejandro and I have traveled pretty extensively around Mexico together and apart, and I have been around South America and Europe a bit. We prefer to stay in a place for a bit longer than most people might in order to start to feel at home there and get to know the locals. Trying to see "everything that's important" in the least amount of time is definitely not our style.
