We provide clean linens (including freshly laundered duvet cover for each guest), towels, tea and coffee w/cream, basket of snacks. GETTING AROUND: The neighborhood is lovely, safe and friendly—lots of walkers! The house is a 1.3 mile level walk to the heart of Montclair Village, where you'll find cafés, restaurants, bookstores, groceries & pharmacies; as well as a Sunday Farmers’ Market. A charming local library is a mile away. Lake Temescal—an attractive East Bay Regional Park—is just down the hill from us. The house is on a quiet street, yet just a few blocks from access to the freeway. Twenty minutes to S.F. during non-rush hour periods, and five minutes to Berkeley. The Rockridge BART station is 5 minutes away by car. (Please note: it's much easier to stay here if you have a car; it's a long, steep walk to the BART station, and the buses don't run frequently.)
The private studio with bathroom is separate from the house, with parking in our driveway.
Interaction with Guests
We are available for help in any way, but totally respect our guests' privacy.
Montclair is a friendly, beautiful neighborhood. I love that we live on a level street, in the lower area of the hills. It's conveniently close to "The Village," No long, winding roads to get lost in; easy access to other cities.
A car is recommended. There are buses within a few blocks away, and the Rockridge BART station is just a few minutes from here, but not easily walkable to the station.
Other Things to Note

We enjoyed our stay in the private studio and would not hesitate to stay there again if we revisit the area. Our hosts were very thoughtful and communicated all necessary information in advance. Check in and check out was smooth! The studio was clean, well decorated and included all the amenities we needed during our stay.
Rachel and John made us feel incredibly welcome. The property is exactly as described in the listing and exactly as it appears in the photo -- clean, modern, and well appointed. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. This will be our go-to property the next time we come to the Oakland/Bay Area. Highly recommended!
This is the second time I have stayed at the Montclair Studio. Clean, quiet, and was absolutely beautiful as spring had arrived in Oakland!
We stayed in Rachel's cozy little studio for three days and it was perfect! It's in a great area - close to the freeway so you can get around town, but very neighborhood feeling so it's nice and quiet all day (and night) long. The parking spot was a perk too! The studio itself is nicely appointed with everything you could need, including maps and books on the area, fresh tea and coffee, snacks, cable tv, and a very comfy bed. The room gets a nice breeze and it stays cool even when it's hot out (it was in the high 70s when we were there). We didn't get to meet Rachel, but she was very quick to respond to email and getting in and out of the place was easy. I would highly recommend staying here and we'll definitely be back!
Another lovely and quiet stay. Rachel always makes me feel very welcome. I enjoy staying here because it's very clean, bright, and conveniently located to freeway access to anywhere in the East Bay and parking is easy - right in the driveway.
The host made us feel welcome by placing snacks in the room and in the refrigerator. The clean towels were right there on the bed when we arrived. The rooms were immaculate and felt very warm and welcoming. The neighborhood is lovely, we met a few people who were walking their dogs, and being dog lovers, we approached and asked if we could pet them -these people were lovely (as were the dogs!) I have absolutely nothing negative to say about our accommodations -so much better than a hotel room. The selection of books and magazines available to the guests were also a great extra touch. The setting was perfect -it was not a "downer" to have to go back to our room -it was wonderful.
Rachel's house was very convenient and I had no problems. Everything was very thoughtful and well placed.
We enjoy living in the S.F. Bay Area and feel lucky to live in an area with so much art, culture, diversity, excellent food & coffee, outdoor recreation, fine weather. . . all this and still fairly close to the mountains and the ocean!
