GETTING AROUND: The neighborhood is lovely, safe and friendly—lots of walkers! The house is a 1.3 mile level walk to the heart of Montclair Village, where you'll find cafés, restaurants, bookstores, groceries & pharmacies; as well as a Sunday Farmers’ Market. A charming local library is a mile away. Lake Temescal—an attractive East Bay Regional Park—is just down the hill from us. The house is on a quiet street, yet just a few blocks from access to the freeway. Twenty minutes to S.F. during non-rush hour periods, and five minutes to Berkeley. The Rockridge BART station is 5 minutes away by car. (Please note: it's much easier to stay here if you have a car; it's a long, steep walk to the BART station, and the buses don't run frequently.)
The private studio with bathroom is separate from the house, with parking in our driveway. Please feel free to enjoy the deck above the studio.
Interaction with Guests
We are available for help in any way, but totally respect our guests' privacy.
Montclair is a friendly, beautiful neighborhood. I love that we live on a level street, in the lower area of the hills. It's conveniently close to "The Village," No long, winding roads to get lost in; easy access to other cities.
A car is recommended. There are buses within a few blocks away, and the Rockridge BART station is just a few minutes from here, but not easily walkable to the station.
Other Things to Note

This was my first Airbnb experience and it was terrific. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and private. I appreciated the informative travel booklets and amenities provided - such as fresh fruit and half & half for our morning coffee. I felt our hosts were welcoming and available if needed. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe.
Highly recommended. :)
My husband and I could not have had a better first time experience using airbnb! Rachel's studio is clean, spacious for two people and very comfortable. The beautiful flowers leading up to it make you feel right at home. Rachel even had snacks available to us and our favorite type of tea and almond milk. How thoughtful! I highly recommend this place.
This attractive and thoughtfully furnished studio with private entrance was a good choice for our week end in Oakland. Located in a pretty neighborhood, we had easy access to Montclair Village, Lake Temescal, walking and cycling and the highway . When not out and about we enjoyed relaxing on the patio. Rachel was always prompt with communications and even provided a parking place.
We enjoyed our stay in the private studio and would not hesitate to stay there again if we revisit the area. Our hosts were very thoughtful and communicated all necessary information in advance. Check in and check out was smooth! The studio was clean, well decorated and included all the amenities we needed during our stay.
Rachel and John made us feel incredibly welcome. The property is exactly as described in the listing and exactly as it appears in the photo -- clean, modern, and well appointed. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. This will be our go-to property the next time we come to the Oakland/Bay Area. Highly recommended!
We stayed in Rachel's cozy little studio for three days and it was perfect! It's in a great area - close to the freeway so you can get around town, but very neighborhood feeling so it's nice and quiet all day (and night) long. The parking spot was a perk too! The studio itself is nicely appointed with everything you could need, including maps and books on the area, fresh tea and coffee, snacks, cable tv, and a very comfy bed. The room gets a nice breeze and it stays cool even when it's hot out (it was in the high 70s when we were there). We didn't get to meet Rachel, but she was very quick to respond to email and getting in and out of the place was easy. I would highly recommend staying here and we'll definitely be back!
