About This Listing
There isn't any profit made in this offer. I've moved from Montreal and need to cover as much of my rent of $1110 plus bills ($200 approx so total $1310) until the end of my lease in July.
For periods after April 1st I'd prefer to rent for close to a month or more and I may entertain offers to rent below my cost. Shorter stay is possible in February and March.
Available up to July 1 and you can re-sign for longer with the landlord if you are looking for an apartment. I may include furniture, the made to measure curtains, appliances in a deal for a long term renter.
My loft is located on Mont Royal Avenue West between St. Urbain and Clark St. This is an ideal location as it's safe, urban and close to amenities and attractions yet still very affordable. )
I have moved from Montreal but loved this loft so much that I kept it well after I left with the hopes of returning or sharing the loft with others.
The loft still has its original hard wood floor and a wall of 6 foot windows with curtains. The loft is a spacious (115 square meter/ 1250 square foot) open area with high ceilings that is really comfortable and even fun to live in. The bed is on a large, slightly elevated stage area which gives a bit of balance to an otherwise wide open space. Of course, the bathroom is a room! There is a closet too. It is fully furnished and has a king size bed. There are two desks and several antique lamps to use which make for some nice, mild lighting and cool ambiance.
It's a secure building with a locked main entrance with video surveillance. The loft is on the third floor at the back of the building and there are only three other units on the floor.
Price is affordable. For now, it is discounted since I didn't plan ahead to rent it. It just became available today (December 11) and I would like to rent it soon. I pay $1113 per month plus utilities and internet. At the price I've listed, you are paying less than the cost.
-Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and plenty of dishes, pots and pans and cooking utensils.
-high speed cable internet
-washing machine (hanging rack to dry)
-some cooking supplies included (salt, pepper, sugar, cooking oil)
-There is a grocery store across the street and a gym beside the building
-the building has an elevator
About the location: I believe the location is ideal. It is an affordable, attractive and residential neighbourhood yet still close or within reach of most everything you could want from urban Montreal. Downtown and old Montreal is accessible with a 5 to 10 minute bus ride that runs down St. Urbain or Park St. regularly or by using the metro system. The closest metro stop is Mont Royal station which is a 10 minute walk east. Park Jeanne Mance is a 2 minute walk and "the Mountain" is a 7 minute walk west. Mcgill Campus is close, on the other side of the park. Nearly endless shopping, restaurants and bars are within short walking distance on St. Laurent, Mont Royal Avenue and St. Denis Street. There is a grocery store and bixi bicycle station across the street from the loft. There are bike lanes on many streets in the area (Rachel, Clark). There is a gym beside the building. Furthermore, Parking is free on side streets and you only have to move your car for snow clearing. (the same cannot be said for downtown Montreal).
Noise: The walls between lofts are not amazingly soundproofed. You cannot play loud music. You cannot have parties , unfortunately. I have good relationships with my neighbours and the superintendant and I must keep it that way while renting out. Of course, hosting guests IS FINE. Just no parties please.
FINE PRINT: I have some belongings and boxes in the corner of the loft, the washing machine can only be used on small or medium cycle; not large, the dishwasher is not installed into a counter; it's just standing there as there is no usual place for a dishwasher in a loft it seems. The pictures make it look better than it is. They were taken by a photographer. It's not quite as bright. I say this since often people can't view before booking. If you can view, please let me know and we can try to set that up.
Keep in mind you are simply renting my apartment. It is not a bnb or a hotel.

Fun fact: the building is referenced in the band The Stills' song : Return to Vega. (The Bancroft Building), referencing the notorious loft parties of years past which poured up the iron fire escape stairs on to the roof. Although you can't have parties in the building anymore (they had to have an intervention to stop the problem), you can certainly feel a great vibe in this area where the neighbourhoods of artists, students and locals merge together creating a unique community with a lot of fun stuff to experience, including an awesome nightlife.
I stayed in Byron's Loft for a week, apartment was in a great area, close to grocery store, liquor store and lots of restaurants/bars. Place has a lot of character and is even larger than it appears from the pictures given. You get a lot of value for the price and Byron was very easy to get a hold of at any time I had a question. Would recommend staying here if you are looking for an affordable accommodation in a great area.
Due to personal complications, I was not able to make it to Montreal to stay in Byron's loft. However, he was very prompt in responding to emails and very helpful in checking in with me to make sure I had everything I needed leading up to the stay.
A great stay at Byron's loft; it's as described and provided a homey, super comfortable and affordable Montreal experience. Although I didn't meet Byron in person, he made sure my check-in and check-out was effortless, texting me in advance and just before leaving to make sure everything was in order ,as well as answering any questions I had during my stay. He was super attentive, friendly and efficient. The area is amazing - full of shops cafes and well connected to the metro if I have an opportunity to stay any length of time here again I will be doing so. THANKS Byron!
Byron was a great host. Made access to the building easy by buzzing us in and letting us know where the key was. Listing was just how it shows in the picture. As with any place you stay, ensure to bring your own sheets.
