There is an excellent late night bus offered by Capmetro from downtown to very close to the house. Saves you the latenight cab fare.
Do unto others..
These accommodations were extremely disappointing to me. #1, this is a house that is divided into 2 if not three units. The pictures posted on Airbnb are NOT the accommodations that I was provided. The host seemed disorganized, he stated he was not ready for our arrival as check in was 4:00 and it was 3:30. He did show me the other unit that he has posted on Airbnb, indicating that he had two other couples coming in for the weekend as well. I chose this site because of the location and I needed 2 bedrooms. The neighborhood was not what I was hoping for. The unit was not clean, there was pet dander on all floors. The unit was not adequately supplied. I would have left and moved if it had not been such an inconvenience for us. Extremely disappointing as I was taking my family to see Austin for the first time.
I have 27 very positive, glowing reviews (between Airbnb and VRBO/Homeaway)..and then I have this one. So please read this one and then the other 27 to get a full understanding of who I am as an established host and a human being;)
I'm very disheartened that Anna found the stay disappointing. The happiness and well being of my guests is of the utmost importance. A few of Anna's complaints were actually legitimate and will be addressed (my dog Tango started to shed in the spring..I'm pet dander guilty) however the rest of her review was uncalled for and a bit of a shock really. I would have gladly bent over backward to refund all her money and then some had I known she was at all unhappy with the situation. However I never heard from her about any issues.
The place was professionally cleaned and ready (down to every detail) hours before her check in time. It is OVER equipped as I've owned it 5 years and stocked it full of kitchen and bath essentials.
She arrived before check in time (in spite of several friendly reminders to please not arrive early). I couldn't greet her as I would have preferred because of this. She characterized this as 'a disorganized host' which I felt was a bit much as she was the one who didn't respect the check in time and arrived when she saw fit.
I go out of my way (again, please read all other reviews) to give my an uber clean, awesome experience. I'm sorry that Anna's visit was not a good one. I'm a very frequent Airbnb guest and host and I understand this is about creating a positive experience.
I do sincerely feel that her review is unfairly critical and shows as an inexperienced Airbnb guest acting like grumpy consumer..thankfully I've been in this business for 3 years and I have a significant cache of positive reviews to help set the record straight. I look forward to the opportunity of burying this review with numerous fantastically positive reviews from future guests!
Staying at Pat's place was excellent. The house is in a fantastic location in Austin, allowing fast and easy access to every attraction. Pat was wonderfully available for communication and helped suggest several restaurants and bars for us. The six of us felt very comfortable and had a marvelous time.
Pat was a wonderful host. Our family of four, including our two college aged sons, had a great five night stay at Pat's home in late March, 2014. The house was comfortable, spacious, a great alternative to a hotel. The street was quiet, but very close to everything, and just a few minutes by car to the So. Congress area where other friends & family were staying.
Our schedule was busy, so we never had a chance to meet Pat in person, but our e-mail exchanges were very quick, informative and helpful. The photos on the listing are a little confusing, because some of them must be from a different listing than the one in which we stayed. Early in the process of booking, Pat offered to send us photos that would provide us with better detail about our lodgings.
You'd never guess this property was not a single family home, unless you happen to go take out the garbage and see that there are actually two garages and another residence in back. It's very well designed. We hope to get back to Austin again and will definitely check to see if Pat's home is available.
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I enjoyed staying in this spot. I didn't realize that it was like a duplex, but I wasn't bothered by it. The neighborhood was residential, but really close to downtown. Really, a convenient location. I also appreciated how available our host was always available by way of text message, and that his indoor/outdoor cat was around!
