I stayed two nights in Kelly's cottage. The communication was great and following the indication that Kelly provides you, the cottage is easy to find. Kelly and Jessy were really welcoming. The location is beautiful if you are looking for a quiet place. Kelly provided 3 heaters so it was not so cold. It is the place that you can expect from a cottage in the countryside. The cleanliness can be improved, but it it was a place where you can stay (I didn't see the mould and the kitchen was clean). Overall it was a good experience. Thanks
What can I say. This house should not be up for rent. On arrival we were told the heating is turned off in March. There is no fire place. We were given two blow heaters that were very weak. The house was very cold and very very damp. It has not been cleaned at all. There were two single tread bare quilts on a double bed. The bed was not suitable for sleeping. All the cooking utensils were dirty and we had to wash everything before we cooked. The couch was filthy. We could only sleep there one night even though we booked 6. We slept in my partners van for the rest of the trip (this is Ireland in late March early April) the van was warmer and drier. I do a lot of camping and have travelled extensively and I can say this is one of the worst houses I have ever stayed in. It doesn't matter how cheap a place is, the basic requirement when renting a house is that it is clean and dry and warm. It was none of these. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless the heating has been turned on and it has been thoroughly cleaned first. We mentioned that it was cold and damp to Kelly but he did not react and ask any questions.
We asked as you leaved if everything was ok - as we dont use the cottage at all - and the energy consumption showed that you well used the house - the only answer I got was it was damp - this is happen to houses that over 100 years old and in the middle of nowhere - The Kitchen stuff was cleaned (Dishwasher), the Bed (same make) is used as well here in our house without complaints or problems, all walls etc. is washed Sofa was steamed but is not new. If you would have come down to us (not even 30 sec walk) we could have sorted out more. And as said on arrival - you can have more Heaters and you asked for 1 more - and you got it 10 min later. Complain when you are here - not when you left - then is nothing we can do to change anything.
Directions were easy to follow. Unfortunately on arrival the gas had been turned off but Kelly was able to give us 2 electric heaters and offered us more. The fire place is outside. The bed was average, the shower was small but still fantastic. It wasn't the beautiful cottage that we thought it was going to be. But good for 1 or 2 nights.
Kelly was quite kind to drive to Kilfenora to lead us to the cottage after we failed to find the white bungalow in the dark. GPS hint: the farm road is at N52° 59.050' W9° 10.286'. The cottage was like going back in time, except many of our favorite "modern" books were on the shelves.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This cottage was perfect for our few nights in Clare. The location was perfect for exploring south and North Clare. The cottage itself inside is a bit cold and dark but the view outside make up for this. The white rabbits were a treat to see around the cottage.
