The space

Dar Al Waha's location makes it a perfect base to explore the UNESCO heritage listed medieval medina of Fes.

It is situated on the main street in the medina, in the vicinity of the famous Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) and surrounding restaurants, Medersa Bou Inania and the mysterious Water Clock and offers the best in self catering with markets brimming with fresh produce, all within a minute’s walk from home!

Dar Al Waha is a beautifully restored home that follows the traditional Arabian floor plan. There is a magnificent terrace over two levels, giving you fantastic views over the northern half of the medina, including the Merenid tombs, the northern Fort (Borj Nord) and surrounding ramparts. From here you can also watch the procession of medina life on the main street below, the way it has always been for over a thousand years.

We have included the creature comforts of top quality linen, western bathrooms, reverse cycle air-con and plentiful hot water to ensure your stay is like a home away from home.

The prices listed are for self-catering only.

Guest access

Guests have exclusive access to a two tiered terrace with fantastic views of the medina

The neighborhood

Convenience is everything in the medina. The complete absence of cars mean you can find everything you need within a short stroll from the house.

Other things to note

Check in is normally 2pm, however if we have back to back bookings, check-in is usually at 4pm to allow the cleaner to properly prepare the house for you. You are more than welcome to leave your bags in the house earlier than that whilst you explore the medina or relax at a nearby cafe. Check out is usually at 10.30am unless previously agreed upon with the house manager.

Please note that on request, we have a portable WiFi hotspot which is available for you to use. We request a refundable 200DH security deposit (sometimes this things leave with our guests!) and we will give your the WiFi hotspot. You will need to recharge it at your own expense, which is 10DH per day. Wahiba, our house manager, will show you how to recharge it.

A relaxing sanctuary in a bustling neighborhood. Located near the Blue Gate, we met Wahiba who brought us to the home. We probably wouldn't have found it without her help. House was very clean and relaxing. Rooftop was incredible. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

We liked Anthony's place. Wifi was fast and consistent. It had all the amenities -- laundry soap, towels, kitchen equipment and utensils. It would have helped to have some bath soap, though. We had bit of trouble with those steep stairs and our heavy luggage, but these are all small things and nothing compared to a great location and spacious, comfortable rooms. We recommend Anthony's place for anyone visiting Fez.

One of the best airbnb I've stayed in. Check in was super easy. The location cannot be beat, you are on one of the main roads but you wouldn't know because you cannot hear the street view. Lovely home, very well kept, and extremely comfortable. Cannot recommend enough.

My family and I had a great time at Anthony's place! We were a little nervous for our first time in Morocco, but Anthony had great suggestions for a driver from the airport and a tour guide and we had a great time. Wahiba was also helpful, she met us at the blue gate and helped us get a sim card in the Medina when we arrived. The place is located right in the middle of the old medina, close to one of the main commercial streets and there were tons of shops and restaurants nearby. The downstairs tub was very relaxing and the terraces were gorgeous!

Anthony and his friend Simo were extremely helpful during our stay, and helped us to organise tours and activities. The house had heaps of space and was in the centre of the medina! Thank you very much for the great time

The riad is really well located and easy to find in the medina. The house has the most magnificent terrace, and is incredibly quiet. Communication with Simo, the house manager, was perfectly smooth, and he was available for help anytime.

I have been travelling extensively to Morocco since 2005, and have a keen interest in medieval architecture. I want guests to have a thoroughly enjoyable time, having their usual creature comforts whilst living in a medieval urban environment that hasn't changed for 1000 years. If you share that same sense of adventure, but you're maybe a bit over doing it rough, then my comfortable, well equipped and ideally located places are perfect for you.
