Looking for a clean and classy place to stay in the middle of a safe and exciting neighborhood? This is it!
The room available is my spare guestroom. It's really best suited for a maximum of 2 people (any more and it gets cramped), but I do have a futon and air mattress that we can set up in the living room to accommodate more guests.
**EDIT as of 8/27/2012: I have added curtains to the guestroom/second bedroom.
There is a closet with drawers you are welcome to use.
You will have your own private bathroom located right next to the available room. The bathroom has both hot and cold water with great water pressure. Also, and perhaps this is strange to include, but my septic system is strong enough to handle the flushing of toilet paper. You'd be surprised by how often I get this question.
The kitchen has pretty much everything you would need for basic meals, but is probably not suitable for preparing a large feast. It does not have an oven, but does have a fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee and rice maker and all the typical cooking/dining utensils.
The dining room has a table that can seat 6. The living room has lots of lounging options.
There is a mini-bar in the dining room that you're welcome to use. If you do drink my booze, it'd be nice if you chipped in a few pesos to help me restock.
The entire condo is equipped with wireless Internet (fast for Manila standards) and cable. I'm not a big TV watcher, but have added a small, flat screen television and DVD player in the living room for guests. Keep in mind, it is only 19" - I do, however, have a projector, which you are more than welcome to use to watch a movie - I can show you how to set this up. I have a high ceiling and big walls, which makes projecting movies a treat.
There is a balcony, which has quite the view of the Eastwood Promenade and dancing fountains. Usually, people go out here to smoke - or to scope out the traffic situation on C-5.
There are AC units in in the guestroom as well as the living room. They are not the quietest models, but I haven't found them to be a problem. They do a good job keeping the place cool. Please see my "House Rules" for more info about the AC units.
The condo is in an upscale high rise building with 24 hour security, lobby guards and concierge, 4 high speed elevators, a 5th floor roof deck/garden with a swimming pool and gym. It's a fairly swanky place.
Eastwood is one of the most vibrant commercial hubs in Metro Manila. There is a plethora of restaurants featuring local and international cuisine, great shopping, live entertainment, two cinemas and a really active night life. The best part about all this is that it is literally 25 floors below you. No need to worry about getting around Manila (and facing the notorious Manila traffic!) when all this is at your door step.
If you do need to get around the city, taxis are super easy to hail as there is a taxi rank located right outside the building. A lot of multinational companies are located in Eastwood, so I've never found it difficult to catch a cab. Even better, virtually every cab driver knows Eastwood so no worries about getting lost finding your way home.
Eastwood itself is located very near Ortigas (10 min drive), Fort Bonifacio (The Fort - 15 min drive) and Quezon City (Ateneo and UP - 15 min drive). Makati is about a 20 min drive away - assuming light/regular traffic. However, as you've guessed, these estimations go out the door once rush hour traffic hits!
I'm a Filipino-American in my mid-twenties working as a consultant for American organizations/companies. Heads up: I do a lot of my work from home, but can stick to my bedroom if guests are over. In fact, I prefer keeping to myself while working, so if you're looking for a local tour guide, unfortunately, I probably wouldn't fit the bill. However, I can definitely recommend you to some people that give excellent tours of the city. And of course, I'm more than happy to give you tips on what to do, where to go and what to see in Manila - I'm also really good at disappearing if you'd rather explore on your own!
I'd like to reiterate to clear up any confusion: if you book my guestroom, I will also be staying at my place during your stay. I no longer offer the entire place to visitors. This may change in the future, but frankly, I've been spending a lot of time in Manila, so it is very likely I will be around during your visit.
This condo is my full-time home, so even though I keep common spaces clear of personal belongings for when guests stay, you may spot a few personal items such as photos, books, clothing etc. These are mostly kept in my room, but If that weirds you out, perhaps a hotel would be a better option.
Also, it's unlikely that the place will be available for month long stays, but if that's what you need, shoot me a message and we can chat and see if we can make it happen.
Rovaira is helpful and was a perfect host. Place is nice, just as listed. I can't really imagine anyone not being happy staying there as long as you read about it beforehand. Thanks Rovaira! :)
The apartment is accurately described & photographed in the listing. It's a high-rise luxury condo in an affluent area, known locally as Eastwood Libis. The rental is situated within a planned “lifestyle mall” called MegaWorld, with a wide selection of international brands, restaurants and bars which provide for a lively nightlife. It's a fabulous living. It felt more like being in California than in the Philippines, actually -- down the street are True Value, TGIFridays, 7-11, Bon Chon, Red Mango, and of course Starbucks! Those more interested in cultural tourism would be more fulfilled traveling outside of Manila. I have traveled many times to the Philippines from New York City, and though I am grateful for the luxuries and shopping opportunities during my stay, my first impression was, 'Did I travel this far to be at the mall?" My two friends, who had never been to the Philippines before, especially appreciated the space.
My 2 friends and I rented the guest bedroom for 4 total days. The host Rovaira was incredibly accommodating of our different travel needs and was very communicative at all stages of the rental process. In addition to our different check-in & check-out times, my two friends and I also took a few days in the middle of our week to travel outside of Metro Manila. The host's flexibility in accommodating us was really great. She also provided an extra air mattress, linens, and additional supplies, and was a good local resource as well. She also welcomed us to use the stock already in the kitchen. Furthermore, the condo's concierge in the lobby was very helpful and friendly, and the building provides expedited laundry services, for which I was especially grateful.
There are taxis always waiting in the taxi bay directly outside of the building's entrance. I always felt safe during my stay in the neighborhood. Enjoy!
Rovaira and her lola(grandmother) were very hospitable. The unit is really clean and well maintained. Same goes for the bathroom. The location is also very convenient. A lot of food places are nearby and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street. There's also a taxi line right outside the building's lobby.
Will stay again if I have to be in the area. :-)
Rovaira is an incredible host. She picked me up at the airport at 2am, and waited for an hour because my flight was delayed. I was extremely touched because it was my first time in Manila. She's very organized, where she has a welcome sheet that is personalized and have all the information you would need- where to get a simcard, where to do laundry, etc. She also provides you with a key, which is very helpful.
The room is very clean, you get your own bathroom. I particularly loved the big bed and huge windows. I used the gym, but didn't have time to check out the pool. The apartment is located in one of the most bustling areas in the city, so you are surrounded by malls, restaurants, etc. Extremely convenient.
Rovaira is an extremely friendly person. I clicked with her instantly, and she's a lot of fun to be around. Plus, her two dogs are adorable!
Travelling on such short notice, I had so many questions about checking in and getting around, but communicating with Rovaira made everything so easy. Even if she was out of town when I checked in, she made sure that everything is taken care of upon my arrival. She even prepared this welcome note with lots of tips and information about the neighbourhood and getting around the city.
The room was everything I had expected, plus a bit more. The bed room was clean, had lots of natural light coming in, and provided a great view of the city. The free wifi also helped so much cause i was able to plan my day and look up places i want to visit in advance.
Rovaira is a great host and has a nice and simple place to stay. Her place is pretty much exactly as described so there's no surprises. It's right in the heart of a great area with plenty of food, entertainment, and shopping. Also, every taxi driver knows where Eastwood is so getting lost isn't much of a problem.
I highly recommend if you're just looking for a room to stay while in Manila.

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Rovaira's place on two different occasions during April 2012. The room is small but clean and comfortable, and the private bathroom is a big plus. There is access to a lovely swimming pool that we used to cool down from the Manila heat, and the condo is located in a very nice and safe area with lots of restaurants and shops. Rovaira herself was very friendly and helpful, and ensured that our stay went smoothly.
I had a relaxed stay at Rovaira's place. Very comfortable bed and good privacy. Bathroom has a great shower and it was a pleasure to use the speakers available in the living room. Missed curtains in the bedroom though so bring some eye cover if you like to sleep late :)
