About This Listing
This is a new room for me! Please read my other reviews! Enjoy true aloha with Cecily and Joseph. Your private entrance, private bath, nicely furnished room is about 3 miles from excellent restaurants, beaches, shops and live music in the village!
Cecily and Joseph are your hosts. We are seldom there at the same time, you'll most likely meet Cecily
We are so happy you are planning on visiting Kailua-Kona! This area has so much to offer! The home is located about 2 mile South of the Kailua-Kona village area, and 10 miles from the airport. We are 3 miles from the famous "Iron Man" finish line! This location is fabulous and really everything is a very 'doable' from here with out long drives. A day trip heading to the north is about 40-80 miles depending on your route, Volcano National Park is 90 miles South. To the east-side, (Hilo) it is a 2 hour drive. We recommend maybe limiting your stay on the Hilo side to one night or just do a day trip.
If this is your first time to this magical island, do not be dismayed when you land on a huge barren lava field, I promise the majority of the island is lush and gorgeous! If you have a week or so here and IF the lava is flowing and you want to see it at night, you may want to stay one night on the other side the island, and enjoy sight seeing in that area heading back to Kona the following day. MOST of my guests prefer the Kona side and 97% of things you want to see and do are accessible from here with in an hours drive.
The house is charming and clean and has ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. There is a small fridge in your closet. You have your own patio with a gas grill and it is quite private. You have limited kitchen access for light meal preparation. We are very easy to talk with and I have all that one usually needs, like beach mats, coolers, beach towels, etc. There is beach access about 5 minutes away walking for sunset and hanging out. Swim beach is 2 miles away, or 20 minute walk.
It is just a 2 bedroom house so only myself or Joseph will be there too.
We are metaphysical in nature, love being around like minded people. We love dancing, swimming with the wild Dolphins, and cooking for starts. Not a lot of "rules" here except to clean up well after yourself so the tiny ants don't come for a feeding, be considerate and no cigarette or cigar smoking please close to our place. (vapor cigarettes are fine) there is a washer/dryer. Power is very expensive here, so be aware please, fans off while away and lights off please. We appreciate $5.00 per load of wash.
We are happy to point you in the "right" direction for affordable grocery shopping, points of interest and places to eat and dance! You wont have TV, but we have 100's of DVD's, and WiFi.
We look forward to sharing "Aloha" with you.
You have access to the kitchen for light meal preparations, dinning area, and patio. You may use the washer and dryer as well, $5.00 per load because of the high electric cost!
Interaction with Guests
We are are happy to share our knowledge of the island, things to do, places to see and restaurants to enjoy. If you want to swim with wild Dolphins going from shore, you must have snorkel gear, and be a good confident swimmer. Cecily will share her knowledge of swimming with Dolphins with you and where to go for the best opportunity to find them!
Its not on a through road and it is quite peaceful. It is a great location for access to the main Hwy and the cute Kailua-Kona oceanfront village! We are about 2 miles from Magic Sands beach and 3 miles to a good snorkel beach and you can usually swim with turtles there!
We have very limited public transit. There are good tour companies but we highly recommend renting a car. Please park to the far left of the driveway, or the street. Mahalo
WiFi is available. There is no cable TV, but we have hundreds of DVDs you can watch on the TV in your room if you like, and an ipod dock in the room. Voices carry like crazy because of being so close to the ocean, so in the evenings especially use quiet voices if possible. Please no visiting on the patio after 10:00 PM. No smoking close to the house please. Clean up after yourselves! Mahalo!
Words don't describe how wonderful and welcoming Joseph made my stay in Kona. This is Authentic Hawaii! The room rest in a beautiful garden amongst all the singing birds. You can even hear the crashing waves! The bed is so comfy too. The host put a touch of so many little things down local chocolates, fruits and fresh flowers. He also is an extremely interesting individual with knowledge of the island that no tour guide could ever touch. Joseph is so unbelievable kind and cool!
The location is exactly perfect. Trust me you don't want to be in DownTown Kona. You want to be right here. Walk to the beach, easy to get downtown, closer to the places you want to be during the day and living in real Hawaii not some tourist chop shop.
I had such a good time, that I plan to make it back some day soon. If AirBnB had 10 stars I'd give this place 15. Nice work, Cecily and Joseph! You are welcome in my home anytime as well. Aloha.
We totally enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this room. Joseph and Cecily were very welcoming and accommodating. We interacted mostly with Joseph. He was a great host, friendly and very helpful. He gave us invaluable tips on where to visit and what to do while we stayed in Kona. His perspective was invaluable. The room is set up with everything someone would need and the attention to detail really impressed us. They included things like beach towels, beach chairs and toys, maps and guide books, fridge and condiments and even fresh fruit from the garden. The house is also very clean and bed is comfortable! The outdoor patio is a big bonus. We loved hanging out here in mornings or evenings and listening to birds. The location is very convenient, just a few miles from downtown Kona. There is a nice small local beach within walking distance from the house. Great place for sunsets. We would definitely love to stay here again when we return to the big island.
Had a wonderful time with Cecily and Joseph - on top of the perfect location got new friends there and felt welcome! Everything was really as described and even better! I really felt more than lucky to find such nice, friendly and attentive landlords and peaceful place to enjoy my holiday on Hawaii. Just can recommend that place without limitation !
We stayed for a week and had a wonderful, amazing time! The home and amenities were topnotch. Everything was very clean and comfy. The gardens both front and back were very well maintained and contained fruit trees and gorgeous flowers. Joseph made us feel so welcomed and had a wealth of information about everything. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
I had a wonderful stay for 3 weeks at garden paradise. Cecily and Joseph were very welcoming and knew everything about the right spots to visit on the big Island. I would definatly recommend this place
CLEAN, SPACIOUS, COMFY, WELCOMING and CLOSE TO EVERYTHING!
Cecily goes above and beyond to make your stay welcoming. Upon arrival she had left a basket of fruit and water in the mini fridge and she even sliced fruit in the morning. The bedroom is very clean, spacious, cozy and comfy. The patio is relaxing and a nice place to sit and relax. Cecily is a wealth of knowledge on where to eat, play and shop too.
We had an absolutely amazing stay! Cecily and Joseph were outstanding hosts. Very hospitable and welcoming. The room was clean and cosy and so was the whole house. The neighborhood was calm and allowed a good night sleep. It is quite well situated just couple of minutes away from the beach. I would defenitely stay there again - totally worth the money!

About the Host, Cecily
I am a happy hearted, conscience lady who likes to have fun! I am "dancing along to the songs of my soul" which is why I live in Kailua-Kona! This is the most amazing island. Such a variety of things to do and see. It is more laid back with less traffic than any other island, and has more to offer, (except big department stores, for that kind of shopping you want Honolulu)! My passion is cooking and entertaining, enjoying a passion fruit margarita on the patio with you or friends, dancing to the great local bands who performing just 1 mile down the road at great ocean side restaurants and bars, I love swimming with the wild Dolphins, and.... of course, going to my favorite beaches for sunning, playing in the waves and snorkeling. I am easy to talk to, please just ask if you need anything! I am known to have it! I am eager to give you my guidance to great places to eat, site see, the best farmers markets, fabulous Kona coffee, nightly entertainment and how to get to Costco! :)
Welcome to my humble sweet home.
