The Space

Your room is the spacious and peaceful master bedroom with attached private bath. Enjoy a luxurious pillow-top queen bed with a light feather comforter, soft sheets, and abundant pillows. Your room features a flatscreen television with AppleTV, HBO GO, and Netflix. There is plenty of space to spread out on the desk, or grab a book and read by the window. The travel library will inspire your journey, and a framed wall map of Los Angeles will help you get there.

Its modern minimalist furnishings complement our ever growing collection of original art. We use energy efficient lighting and eco-friendly cleaning products throughout our home.

Hamilton, our Border Terrier, is a small hypoallergenic dog. He is well trained, great with people, and restricted to the common areas of the apartment. He is happy and chill just like us.

Guest Access

Our guests enjoy wi-fi throughout the apartment. Cook a meal in the stocked kitchen, and enjoy complimentary morning coffee or tea on the bright balcony, where a small grill is also available. Reserved parking is included in a covered parking space beneath the building. There is a coin-operated washer and dryer on site you are welcome to use, or nearby there are two fluff and fold locations.

Interaction with Guests

Your privacy and comfort is our ultimate goal. We enjoy getting to know our guests from around the world, and are available for local travel advice and casual conversations, but understand if you’d rather just get out and enjoy L.A.!

We often work from home during the day, but are never too busy for a quick chat.

The Neighborhood

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Within a ten minute walk we can get everything we need. Our clean residential neighborhood is safe to walk day or night, and is very quiet in the evenings. It feels like a small town tucked in a major city. The sidewalks are lined with trees and grass, and we are right on the edge of the marine layer, meaning we don't get the clouds of Venice, but still have a great beach cities vibe.

Within a few blocks, there are many restaurants including: Rockenwagner Bakery, Pitfire Pizza, Corner Door, Waterloo and City, Thai Taste, and The Venice Grind Coffee.

We provide our guests with a walking map of our neighborhood, highlighting our top recommendations.

Getting around

GETTING AROUND

We recommend having a car in LA. We provide a free, reserved, covered parking spot while staying with us.

By car, this Mar Vista unit is minutes from great destinations:
Venice Beach & Boardwalk – 5 minutes
Abbot Kinney Shopping & Restaurants – 5 minutes
I-405 – 5 minutes
Marina del Rey – 7 minutes
Santa Monica Beach & Pier – 12 minutes
LAX – 15 minutes
Downtown L.A. – 25 minutes
Hollywood – 30 minutes
Malibu – 30 minutes

Bicycle rental is available daily throughout Venice and Santa Monica.

Public transportation lines [LA Metro, Santa Monica, and Culver City buses] run along Washington Ave and Venice Blvd - each a 5 minute walk from our front door. By using mass transit one can reach the beach in 10 minutes or get downtown 25 minutes. Bus routes directly connect to the LA Metro Expo line.

  • As first time Airbnb customers, we couldn't ask for a nicer place. Brett and Jenny (our hosts) had cleaned up the place so well that it looked like a hotel room upon arrival. We were also delighted to have two clean towels provided to us at no extra cost!

The queen bed was super comfy as were the pillows and duvet that came with it. The bedroom had plenty of sunshine but unfortunately none in the bathroom - a worthwhile trade off I'd say. The bathroom shower head could've used a bit of extra pressure and could've been a bit higher for tallish people like me. Not a deal breaker though. The bathroom was prefilled with all the necessary toiletries and necessities, but it made us wish we had gotten some toothpaste too since that's one of those TSA forbidden items.

The wi-fi in the room worked like a charm. It was adequately fast for our basic Internet needs. The room also came equipped with a large-screen TV, an apple TV hookup, and a Netflix connection which we used just once to watch the pilot episode of The Office.

Overall, Brett and Jenny were wonderful hosts and their dog Hamilton is such a quiet, adorable puppy. If anything goes wrong in this place, not that it will, just utter the magic phrase "uh-oh" and all will return to normal.

  • We stayed 5 days at Brett and Jenny, it was our last stop on our westcoast journey, and our first experience of Los Angeles. Brett and Jenny were amazing hosts, we really enjoyed staying with them! They were always really friendly and helped us alot whenever we had questions about the public transport or other things about LA. They made us feel very welcome and relaxed. We will absolutely recommend anyone to stay in their beautiful home :)

  • The stay at Jenny and Brett's flat was perfect! They are great persons, very kind and they were always there to answer any kind of questions we had. The room was amazing, modern and comfortable, the bathroom is very clean and has everything it needs. There is nothing we could complain about, we stayed just 2 days but already felt like home, thank you Jenny and Brett! We highly recommend this place!

  • Brett and Jenny are fantastic hosts! The space was super clean and comparable, if not WAY better, than any 5-star hotel you'd be spending your whole travel budget on. As my first Airbnb experience, I'm grateful to have stayed here. I definitely recommend this listing to anyone in search of a great LA experience. Thank you, Brett, Jenny and Hamilton for being so welcoming!

  • We had three great days at Brett's place!
The room and the whole flat were super clean. The bed was very comfortable. We had our own bathroom and could use everything in the kitchen, they even gave us some space in their refrigerator.
Brett and Jenny were very welcoming and gave us some good tips about the area. Their dog Hamilton is just adorable.
We can really recommend staying here.
