My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Denise's place in Portland. The room was large enough for 2, closet space available, tv and cable in room, fresh towels daily. We actually never got to meet Denise because we were out with friends and exploring most of the time! No worries, Denise's home was welcoming and clean. The neighborhood was great, the Hawthorne district is a cute shopping street with great coffee 2 blocks from the house. Highly recommend if you're visiting Portland! Very close to public transportation as well. Denise was also available via phone the entire time we stayed if we had an issue.
I had a wonderful stay at Denise's.
The room/house: Very clean and organized. The house had nice artistic touches, plenty of soft clean towels were provided, and it was warm and charming. The floors are creaky but that's part of the charm of the house and it was a quiet place.
The neighborhood: Quiet but yet only two blocks from great bars, vintage shops, and a few restaurants. Awesome neighborhood and easy to get around by bike/bus/car. I brought my bike and rode around the city fairly easily.
Denise: She is friendly, funny, creative, and accomodating! I had the pleasure of playing some pool and having drinks with her one evening. She is laid-back and can offer plenty of dining suggestions in the city!
Sweet Pea: She's a poodle/lab mix. Smart and playful. Quiet other than when she runs around to chase toys and balls! She is a great friendly and loving animal!
I stayed at Denise's only one night, but it was a beautiful room in a quiet neighborhood. Denise and her dog Sweet Pea were very friendly and accommodating. A lovely place!
Ditto to what everyone else has said! Not only was Denise an easy-going and accommodating host, she is a warm, quirky, and down-to-earth human being that I enjoyed getting to know and spending an afternoon with, checking out different neighborhoods and the dog park. And her house is a pure delight for the artistic senses. Sweet Pea is a dog lover's dream, but could be too much for handle for those who aren't used to dogs -- just close the door to keep her from coming into your guest room, and she will entertain herself just fine. :)
Fantastic location, wonderful host. The house is clean, spacious and very nice to stay at.
The bed is comfy and there is a tv in the bedroom!
We wish we could have stayed longer!
Denise was great! Super chill, warm (wow those are actually contradictory) and welcoming. The room was adorable and Sweet Pea was the cutest. The location is just superb for anyone who wants to check out Hawthorne and the surrounding neighborhood. Thanks Denise!
Denise was a great host. Her place was very nice, clean, and organized. She provided tons of towels, and also let us use her car.
Although she was out of town, her friend let us in and gave us a run-down of the neighborhood with recommendations of nearby food.
She has an adorable little dog, who has tons of energy and loves to play fetch. But, the living room does smell a little like dog.
Overall it was a great deal, and a great stay!
Denise was a wonderful hostess and her house was lovely! And Sweet Pea really is the sweetest dog ever. As for the room itself, the bed was super-comfy and clean, and Denise left plenty of towels, closet space, etc. The house is old and the floors are squeaky, so you're not going to be sneaking in and out here, but if you appreciate old houses and furniture (as I do), you'll love it. Denise is very welcoming and will help you figure out where you are and how to get around -- she may even take you out for a drink when you get there!
I stayed with Denise when I first relocated to Portland, and it was a perfect place to live while getting to know the city and finding my own place. Denise's home is in a great neighborhood right on Hawthorne where there are bars, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores, and near a couple bus lines, so it's a quick trip downtown and to other parts of the city. The home is very comfortable and clean and Denise is a great host! She knows a ton about Portland and can answer almost any question you have about places to go and things to do. Last but certainly not least, Sweet Pea, Denise's dog, is adorable, and loves her guests!
She was very accomodating and easy going....her place has a lot of style .and I loved hanging out with Sweet Pea and taking her for some walks! Would stay here again!
