No smoking in the house.
Anne and Grahame have a beautiful house and welcomed us into it in such a hospitable way that we were made to feel immediately at home. They and their son were really friendly and accommodated our various requests, questions, etc. with ease and good grace.
The house is centrally located just off the busier main streets and very convenient for activities in the city centre and the University.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable, warm and quiet with great views over the city, and came with an adjacent bathroom for our sole use.
Breakfast was included and I was able to use their incredibly well-appointed kitchen for cooking in the evenings when needed.
I had a very busy schedule whilst in Cork and was able to relax and enjoy the evenings in their house as if it were my own. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you for everything !
Anne is a charming hostess, and she made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was comfortable, and the location was within easy walking distance of the city centre. Breakfast was taken in the kitchen with the family and other house guests - and we enjoyed the fresh eggs from the hens in the back garden. We came and went as we pleased, and we enjoyed being able to come back to the quiet house for an afternoon nap (having been up to the early hours at the Cork Jazz Festival).
Our experience of staying with Anne was so much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel or a traditional B&B as we were made to feel like friends of the family rather than just anonymous guests. This was our first AirB&B experience - and we look forward to many more if they are like this.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience than to stay with Anne, Grahame and their son, Rory. From the minute I walked in the door they made me feel welcome and at home. Their house was comfortable and clean and walking distance to everything I wanted to see and do in Cork City. But more important was the genuine kindness and friendliness that surrounded me. They all went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable, from feeding me when I arrived tired and hungry to letting me ride along when they had business in Baltimore allowing me to do more sight seeing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and look forward to visiting again.
My wife and I recently stayed with Anne and her family. Anne, her husband and son were all very kind and helpful, giving us plenty of places to eat and see while we traveled. The house was spacious and beautiful. The room was plenty big and very clean. It was also pretty quiet for being in city center. The bathroom was very clean as well. There were plenty of restaurants, shops and entertainment nearby. We wish we would have spent more time in Cork exploring. It is definitely a place we would like to return to and when we do, we will be staying with Anne and her family again.
Anne, Graham, and Rory are tremendously gracious hosts, welcoming us like family. Their historic 250 year home is a hidden gem in city centre with a generous backyard complete with a beautiful garden and chickens. The house and the room are cozy and well appointed, even including a hairdryer, which is not common. The location is a convenient walk to the Old English Market, pubs, and restaurants. As you will learn in Cork City it is advisable to park the car and walk due to minimal car parking and traffic.
During our stay there was a record storm. Anne insisted on driving us to dinner, giving us heavy rain jackets and umbrella, which we are beyond grateful for. The next morning she had breakfast ready when we awoke, complete with fresh laid eggs from her hens. We enjoyed breakfast with her cousin John who was also staying.
They host club dinners once a month, in which they prepare a gourmet feast. If at all possible, we would love to return and visit on the date a one of their club dinners.
We picked Annes home as we could see that her family was interesting, healthy and lived the way we would like (growing their own food, raising chickens in the city etc) . Anne is by far the friendliest person we have ever met. It was fantastic overall but in the interest in being honest, you would have to be a seriously sound sleeper to sleep through the dogs barking right outside the window at 6am. We decided to get up after that and went down to the kitchen for the tea etc they left out for us and opened the door so the dogs would stop and ended up setting off their alarm(oops sorry! didn't know about it) If you are an early riser, like quirky people, animals, food, in a fantastic area of the city then this is for you. Anne's granola is the best I ever had. Only wish we had the pleasure of having one of their hosted dinners as they host large parties - quite the cooks we imagine.
