Our stay at Ketsuda and Steven's small hotel was great. The location of perfect with the old town only 10 minutes by foot or 2 minutes by scooter. We went for a day with elephants and a day zip lining (company was called Skyline, we really recommend them as all the equipment was brand new and it was very safe) and our hosts were great with coordinating the drivers with directions and timely pickups. We had breakfast at their cafe several times, good food and great prices too. The only downside of the apartment is that the walls are paper thin and if you are a light sleeper then it will be difficult to sleep well due to the loud exhaust of scooters and trucks that roll by your window.
Me and my girlfriend stayed here during our time in Chiang Mai.
As far as hosts go, you could not ask for more. Incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming. Their dogs are incredible as well!
The on site LekLek Cafe was great, really cheap and tasty.
The room was nice, all you would need. It was spotless when we arrived. The only downside is the noisy local dogs late at night. Otherwise it was a fantastic stay. I would happily recommend to my friends, and know the first place to look if we ever return to Chiang Mai. Thanks Ketsuda and Stephen!
My wife and I stayed at Ketsuda's "Hidden Neighborhood #1" in early February 2014.
Well, what can I say! We had a wonderful time in Chiang Mai, due to great hosts in Ketsuda and Stephen and their charming flat!
Ketsuda and Stephen attended to all of our needs, and gave us numerous local tips which contributed greatly to us having had a marvelous time in Chiang Mai. They always kept us informed as to the events going on in the city, where otherwise, we would have missed them!
The flat was clean, and is located close to city square; but not so close where we couldn't enjoy a quiet night's rest.
Oh all the places we've travelled in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, we had the best time in Chiang Mai, thanks in large part, to hosts Ketsuda and Stephen!
I highly recommend these 2 hosts!
Nice big room and very helpful people.
If you're looking for a low-key, basic and clean, secure place to stay in Chiang Mai, this place is great! It's located in a real Thai neighborhood where all meals cost about a dollar and there are no noisy bars or tourists milling around. I was studying Thai massage at the Old Medicine Hospital which is walking distance, so the location was perfect for me. It's also located about a 15 minute walk from the Old City. I walked it for about a week, then ended up renting a scooter from Stephen and Ketsuda which turned out to be the ideal way to get around Chiang Mai (wherever you're staying). I talked to Stephen and Ketsuda every day while I was there and really appreciated their advice and enjoyed their company - good people! In fact, the highlight of my trip was an excursion they planned to Mae Jo for the Loi Krathong lantern festival (along with Tiger Kingdom and Doi Suthep). Highly recommended!
I enjoyed my stay in Chiang Mai with Ketsuda and Stephen. They have a couple of locations. One is in the old city, which is convenient to many of the sites. The other is in a neighborhood a little south of the old city, but still walkable. The room was comfortable. Ketsuda and Stephen were very friendly and helpful giving advice on things to do and even booking a day trip for me. I would recommend staying with them. Thanks!
Ketsuda & Stephen were wonderful hosts. The apartment is clean and comfortable - located just enough outside of the hustle and bustle but close enough for an easy walk to everything. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. Most importantly - Stephen's daily tip, insights, and suggestions were an invaluable part of our experience in Chiang Mai. You should follow every bit of his advice... he is always right!
Ketsuda and Stephen are excellent hosts. They are extremely helpful and friendly with nothing being too much trouble to assist with. Their local knowledge is invaluable. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and situated within walking distance to the old city and short tuk tuk ride to other places of interest. The local facilities are perfect. Street cafe across the road; 7/11; Laundry; Massage. We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 days with Ketsuda and Stephen and hope to return in the not too distant future.
Steve and Ketsuda were extremely helpful and their advice made a big difference to my holiday in Chiang Mai. For example, Steve suggested that I rent a motor scooter which I did and as a result was able to extensively explore the countryside and get around the city very easily. Riding a motor scooter in Chiang Mai is not a daunting experience as traffic moves fairly slowly and motorists are very aware of bikes. My apartment was very comfortable and spacious and had good facilities. Unfortunately there were quite a few motorbikes moving up and down the street at night and plenty of yapping dogs in the neighbourhood. I think this is fairly normal for most parts of Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is definitely worth visiting and having hosts like Steve and Ketsuda makes it a very rewarding experience.
I agree with so many of the positive reviews about the hosts and their great, affordable accommodations. I was so taken with the neighborhood that I signed a lease for office space and an apartment just a few hundred meters away. Now I see Stephen and Ketsuda regularly as neighbors.
