Andrea was the perfect host! She responded almost immediately after we booked, made the arrangements for key pick up easy and seamless, was forgiving and flexible when we arrived earlier than planned, and did here best to remedy a problem with the WiFi.
Her apartment is very cute, spotlessly clean with plenty of towels and a comfy bed. The apartment location was ideal for exploring the nearby museums and close to subway stops.
Our only major problem was the HEAT! which was on full blast all the time with no way to turn it off. We kept the windows opened most of the time opened just to keep the temperature manageable. A sorry waste of energy....
A late night drunken argument between same floor neighbors was a bit unpleasant and kept us awake. Other than that one incident, the noise level was low by city standards, even with the windows open!
I'd surely stay again if the heat issue were corrected.
Great place to stay to explore New York, perfect location, the apartment is exactly as described and Andrea has been very helpful. Highly recommended and I hope to be back!
We were 2 staying for 5 nights in this charming appartment. It was clean and identical to the pictures shown. The housekeeper was waiting for us quite late in the evening (8 pm) to hand us the keys and show us the appartment. Andrea, the landlord, has always been very reactive to my emails and phone calls. She has been very flexible as she enabled us to leave our luggage a few hours extra in the appartment so we did not have to carry our luggages the whole day before taking our night plane. The only negative points i can see is that we had the internet connection working only one day, there was no casserole to cook and that it was not possible to set the radiator at the needed temperature (it was sometimes too warm in the appartment).
Overall, the appartment is very well located. The quarter has supermarkets, restaurants and bars. The metrostation is at 10 minutes walking distance and direct to the main locations to visit in Manhattan. Central park is also located at 10 minutes walking distance. The appartment is very cosy and it was a pleasure to rest without any traffic noise.
Go for it !!!
- Andrea very easy to communicate with before and during our stay, although we did not meet her despite being told she would meet us at the apartment when we arrived
- Easy access to subway, nice restaurants, local convenience stores and laundromat facilities
- WiFi access
- Cable TV
- A lovely place to come back to after a day of sightseeing away from the hustle and bustle of the inner city
- Kitchen facilities including tea and coffee which was very convenient
- Apartment building heating was way too hot and there was no way of turning this down. The air con does help a little, but it is very noisy making it hard to sleep with it on.
- Restaurant smell and heat during the evening increases room temperature.
- We expected the apartment to have street noise which was fine but there was a lot of extra noise from people within the building yelling out excessively.
Apartment was in general good/clean and host welcoming/helpful. Great location, very fair value for the money.
Broken windows, stains in bathtub and constant food smell in common areas and bedroom somehow took off the charm of the place and the stay.
Andrea's apartment worked out great for us. It is a bit smaller than how it appears in the listing, but was plenty big enough for the 3 of us all the same. It is over a restaurant/pub, so we were duly warned to expect some noise and cooking odors well into the evening. But neither was particularly bothersome during our stay. The nearest neighbor on that floor though did throw a wild party with noisy guests that went on until 6:00AM the next morning. That was a bit over the top, but not the fault in any way of our host, and probably not a common occurrence- could happen anywhere in a big city. We normally took taxicabs everywhere, though the nearest metro station is an easy walk, and we did take that a few times to go downtown. Overall, we were quite pleased with Andrea's place and would certainly book there again when in NYC.
Great hosting, although i didn't meet the Andrea, everything is good for me, location is perfect, near MET, recommend to all traveller to Big Apple City.
Beautiful jewel box of an apartment, impeccably clean and tastefully furnished. I booked it super super last minute, too. Thanks again!
The apartment was lovely, and in a great location!
As it is on top of a restaurant it sometimes felt a bit smoky, but overall this wasn't an issue.
We arrived later than we had expected, and didn't get to meet our host face-to-face. The very friendly, very helpful housekeeper gave us the keys, maps, and general info, and gave us access to her phone's wifi hotspot while we got organized. However, she didn't have the information for the apartment's wifi, nor was it anywhere in the apartment, and we never heard back from the host with the login details. This would have been helpful in terms of our daily planning, as well as communicating with our families. Because we didn't meet face-to-face we were also not aware of how exactly to check-out, and again this info wasn't available until we had already left and had wifi at the airport.
Other than this, though, we had a wonderful stay. The apartment was perfect for us and the location is extremely convenient. The proximity to Central Park and Museum Mile was very nice. Overall we had a great stay!
