It is a double bedroom upstairs with en-suite adjoining, which is only used by guests ( There is also a bathroom downstairs, which includes a whirlpool bath, lovely way to relax after a long flight.) I can provide an extra bed if required. The stairs is quite steep & may not suit less agile people, but generally not a problem. The kitchen is available for guests to use - it has the usual appliances you would expect to find in a modern kitchen.
For larger bookings, please note that we have another double room available downstairs with a bathroom adjacent to it. The bathroom includes a whirlpool bath, a nice way to relax after a busy day or a long flight. (Please refer to our other listing to book.)
Just a few mins.walk to bus stop or 15 min walk (or bus) to Swords where there is lots of great restaurants, pubs etc., which also serve good food at reasonable prices, great shopping centre .- Pavillion Shopping Centre - where you can buy beautiful Irish gifts to take home, or you can get 'cheap n cheerful' souviners etc., also. ( (website hidden)- Pavillion Shopping Centre.
There is a very good bus service to Dublin City where there are many tourist attractions - something to interest everyone. The regular bus service takes 30-40mins or Swords Express service which takes approx 20 mins. The bus stop is 3 mins away.
Anyone interested in history will enjoy Swords with it's Norman Castle which dates back to the 13th century. It was the residence of the 1st Anglo-Norman Archbishop of Dublin. Also worth a visit is the 9th Century Round Tower where the only remaining relic of it's Medieval church is it's Belfry. Information is available from Fingal Tourism - which has an office centrally located in Swords.
Newgrange World Heritage Site is a 5,000 year old Passage Tomb located in the Boyne Valley. This is one of the top visitor attractions in Ireland. This is a 40 min drive from here and can be accessed by country roads which will take you off the beaten track allowing you to explore The Boyne Valley & enjoy the 'real' Irish experience.
There is a lovely park and river - The Ward River - here where I live. Great for a walk or for an early morning run for the more energetic, also a local Gym which facilitates non-members. A ten minute drive takes you into the countryside of Fingal including beautiful parks, with great playgrounds for little people, beaches and fishing villages.
The Airport is a 15 min bus journey with buses running frequently, or taxi service which is even quicker. My local Cab Office does the airport run for 10eu, at any hour, which I will book for you. I also drop people to the airport occasionally, if they have young children or if they are experiencing problems with car-hire etc.
I do not have a restriction on times to check in or out, obviously within reason. Guests can come directly from the Airport & enjoy a tea/coffee, a hot shower and a rest. We are not located in the Airport flight path, so no noisy planes to keep you awake. There is parking outside the house.
I like people to feel comfortable & relaxed in my home. Sometimes people like to sit around and relax before heading off on their adventures, I like people to feel this is their home for the duration of their stay.
Our travel plans changed at the last minute and we had to cancel with Monica. We were in a village in Italy with no internet but I did manage to get a message to her. She was so gracious. We couldn't get through to Air B and B to cancel with them and when they sent a reminder, she emailed me to make sure we weren't coming. Next time we visit Ireland, Monica's place will be on our list. 10 miles from the airport. I appreciated her understanding.
Monica was a great Host. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived later than planned. Monica was kind enough to drive us to a nearby pub so we could get some dinner. The next day she made sure we knew which buses to take to and from Dublin and where to board.
The rooms were just as we had expected. The stairs ARE steep but were not a problem.
We would be happy to stay with Monica again.
Monica was extremely welcoming and the room and bed were very comfortable. Felt the comfort of a home after a long and stressful day trying to catch flights. Breakfast was ready for us in the morning and she was so willing to tell us the local sights and attractions. Would definitely recommend this stay and having a chat to Monica.
Monica was great! She was very kind, showing us how to catch a bus into the city. The bed was comfy, and she provided a light breakfast before we were of to the airport! Monica made our last night in Ireland a great night.
This adorable room was perfect for my stay before catching a flight. Monica and her son Connor were both welcoming hosts, and did a great job making it easy for me to get everything I needed (wifi, breakfast, even change for the bus). Would definitely stay with them again! The stairs are steep but didn't have much trouble getting my 25k luggage up and down.
We were just there for one night between flights but we had the pleasure of meeting a very friendly and welcoming Monica. The room was very cute and cosy. Monica even called us a cab so we had nothing to worry about in the morning. So all in all it was a nice stay and we would recommend Monica's room to everyone.
Since we arrived when Monica wasn't home, went out for the day, and then left extremely early, we, unfortunately, never got to meet Monica. However, her son took care of checking us in, showed us where everything was, and made us feel welcome. The room itself is a font of information with handy phone numbers, pamphlets, and internet access to go along with an extremely comfortable room. And we were totally surprised when, upon leaving in the morning, we found breakfast laid out for us along with a note from Monica. It really was a wonderful experience in a quiet and charming neighborhood with easy bus access. Thank you!
We just arrived early in the morning to Monica House and we were glad to see a very nice person, realy helpfull and smilly, good when you are a bit stessfull as me.
Then it was a real pleasure to discuss with her and share open discussion about a lot of topics.
His house is clean, nice and cosy, specially the room which has nice decoration as a cocoon.
So don't hesitate to book, you won't regret, it's a good experience.
Bravo again Monica, you do it well.
Monica was an absolutely amazing host, we couldn't have asked for anything else. The flat was in a great location, close to the airport and bus lines into the city. The flat was located in Swords which was an amazing area with wonderful bars and restaurants, a breath of fresh air from the city of Dublin. Monica was full of information, very well traveled, and offered us the world. One of the best hosts we've ever experienced! We will definitely be back if we're ever in Dublin!
We only stayed at Monica's for one night before our flight, but it was exactly what we were looking for. Monica was very friendly and the restaurant she suggested was delicious. We had a comfortable night's sleep and woke up to a breakfast spread set out in the kitchen. Overall a wonderful night!
