***My apartment is located in the Plateau neighbourhood (not Mile end as automatically listed by AirBNB - I cannot change this). However, Mile end is only a 5-10 min walk away.
***UPDATE June 2013: New bed (mattress + boxspring)
**UPDATE November 2013: New 46" TV
Located just north from Downtown Montreal, Plateau Mont-Royal is a lively and artistic Montreal neighborhood full of great restaurants, shops, pubs, theaters, music venues, galleries, nightclubs, and much more. It also has many wide green spaces, especially Lafontaine, Laurier, Jeanne-Mance and the Mount Royal park.
I'm offering a cozy private bedroom (full bed) in my large Plateau apartment (approx. 1000 sq.ft. / 93 sq. meters) on a quiet residential street, just around the corner from all the action. You will find free and safe parking directly on my street.
By foot, you can discover:
- Bustling Mont-Royal Avenue, Saint-Denis Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard (where all the attractions are!)
- The mountain (perfect for a nice walk, picnic, short hike, jogging...) and all other main Plateau parks
- The nearby Quartier Latin, Mile End and Outremont neighborhoods
- 2 subway (metro) stations: Mont-Royal and Laurier
- Several direct bus lines (day/night) to downtown, Old Montreal and Old Port, the Olympic stadium, Little Italy...
- Typical Plateau-Mont-Royal "5 1/2" apt with 2 bedrooms (mine and yours!) - rooms are not too close to allow privacy
- large open space area (living room, dining room, full kitchen)
- bathroom with bath+shower
- wi-fi Internet, Netflix
- towels and sheets provided
- non-smoking environment (but you can smoke on the balcony)
- a 4-year-old tabby cat named Bruno
I'll happily provide more details upon request! (If you have questions about cultural activities, art and dining, I might especially be able to make good suggestions ;)
Here are a few great places nearby:
Schwartz, Le Comptoir, La Banquise, Aux Vivres, Le Quartier général, L'Express, Chez Doval, Brasserie Dieu du ciel, Bily Kun, Plan B, Casa del popolo, Sala Rossa, Divan orange, Salon Daomé, Belmont, Bières & compagnie, Sparrow, Monsieur B, L'Entrepont, Café Névé, Le Réservoir, Laïka...
Please treat my home like you would treat yours ;)
Please do not feed my cat or let it go outside.
Smoking is only permitted outside (balcony).
Please ask me before inviting other people in my home.
There is no specific curfew, and you can go out or come in anytime you please. However, I just ask you to keep the apartment quiet when you live on "odd hours".
I've arrived pretty late, Marie wasn't there, but she left me a key and a welcoming letter with info in case I needed to contact her. The apartment and the room were exactly as they have been described. The room was small, but very neat and nice, with a comfortable bed and its own thermostat, so I could adjust the temperature to my liking. Marie is very nice person, responsible and welcoming. She was excellent in managing a little problem which happened when I forgot to shut the door to my room and Bruno the cat goofed a bit with my things. After that I've made sure the door is shut and everything was fine. Bruno, actually is a very funny cat and I liked him a lot. Marie is very friendly and hospitable - she offered me tea, bread and honey and I felt like I was in a good friend's house.
The location is superb - in the heart of Plateau, with many great restaurants, cafes, boulangeries, and easy access to public transportation.
On the day of my departure I've been picked pretty late, and Marie didn't mind me staying beyond the check-out time. I also enjoyed conversations with her, and next time I am coming to Montreal, Marie will be the first one I will contact.
Marie was a great host. My stay was comfortable and I felt I had the private space I wanted even though I shared an apartment with Marie. She also recommended good restaurant and things to see. I'll definitely stay at her place next time I visit Montreal.
Marie was a charming attentive host. The apartment is comfy, down-to-earth, quite comfortable, and located in a great neighborhood with many shops and eateries, a little reminiscent of parts of Greenwich Village in NYC. Easy access to Metro and bus lines. Friendly adorable cat.
Marie's apartment is a clean and cozy place to live. Clean bed and bathroom are all one need during a trip. The cat is shy but friendly. In addition, there're grocery stores and various shops within walking distance in the neighborhood. Parking lots could be a little hard to find but fortunately we were able to get free parking following Marie's instruction. Thanks for leaving us private space but we really wish we met you!
Very nice, quiet, clean place. The location is excellent, just a short walk to bakery, cafe, bar, bookstore... almost everything.
Unfortunately, Marie had been outside of the country but I can tell she is friendly and nice person. I had a computer problem on the reservation process. She was able to refuse my reservation, but she helped me until I could fix it.
I can't wait to visit Montreal again and meet Marie and bruno at last.
Very nice neighbourhood and charming flat.
Marie is very helping and I felt welcome from the very moment I booked my stay.

I'm a Montreal freelance writer and journalist (music/film).
Since 2011, I've been welcoming guests from around the world, and it's been a great experience. On many websites, including AirBNB, I offer a private bedroom year-round and also my entire apartment when I'm out of town.
For 14 years now, I've been living in the same neighborhood, Plateau-Mont-Royal, and I can give you great tips for your trip.
Nice to meet you!
