  • Cabin was fantastic. Just as described and exactly what Brit and I were looking for. Julia and Art were fantastic, only regret we didn't get to spend more time with them. Most gracious hosts!!!!

  • Julia's cabin in Houston was a great place to stay! Her cabin offered all we needed and was very cozy and rustic, which is what I was looking for. The location is good if you are looking to break up the drive from SE Alaska to Denali. Julie and her husband were lovely hosts - easy to coordinate with and very thoughtful. Would come back for sure when visiting Alaska.

  • Julia was very accommodating and the cabin was perfectly situated for our needs. The cabin is cuter and has more character than it appears in the photos. Our two kids (age 2 and 5) loved the place and we appreciated that they could run around outside and play without bothering anyone. Thanks!

  • My husband & I really enjoyed our stay in Art & Julia's guest cabin. I wasn't sure what to expect, but there is power, a little bathroom (not an outhouse) with warm running water/shower, and a bedroom. The wood fireplace was just right to keep us warm in late August/early September.

Art & Julia were gracious hosts, we really enjoyed visiting & making friends with them, and they were understanding about giving us our own space.

If you are used to staying in nicer hotel rooms, this is maybe not the place for you. There will be some bugs, the shower doesn't really get hot, and there are no stores or restaurants nearby.

To the south, Wasilla is a 20-minute drive, Palmer is a 30-minute drive, Anchorage is about an hour drive; to the north, Talkeetna is about an hour drive.

  • We very much loved our stay with Art and Julia. We were encouraged to take a hike among their beautiful property, canoe and even swim at the lake; all to truly enjoy our stay. We also received local tips including a short drive to see Denali mountain while the weather stayed clear (later finding out that a viewing was a rare privilege made us appreciate this suggestion even more than we originally had). Another highlight was being invited to have breakfast with the couple and meeting their friendly pets. Art and Julia were lovely hosts, their rental cabin and the surrounding natural beauty will forever be an important memory of our Alaskan adventure.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed in Julia and Art's cabin one evening on the way up to Talkeetna. Julia and Art were wonderful hosts - they patiently accommodated our tardy arrival and made us feel very comfortable in the cabin. They prepared a hearty breakfast for us the following morning before sending us on our way, and introduced us to their friendly cats and dogs (which we loved). Chatting with Julia and Art over breakfast was genuinely one of the highlights of our trip.

  • Julia was great and so was our stay at her cabin!

  • I was hoping for something off the beaten path and this was a great place. Julia is a great host and has a pretty property. It was just the rustic experience I had hoped for, but came along with conveniences like electricity and running water, so it was just right.
