Taghazout is a small fishing village about 20km north of Agadir on the Atlantic coast of Morocco that put itself on the map as a destination for hippies in the 60's; due to it's chilled out ambience and location on the coast. As surfing became more popular Anchor Point attracted surfers from around the globe chasing swells of all sizes. Today this village still maintains it's traditional Moroccan identity and the locals generally get along great with the travellers and embrace the surf tourism. Please remember Taghazout is a working fishing village, there is litter some places and the plumbing system is not up to European standards. If you can't hack that- we suggest finding a 5 star hotel in Agadir, as Taghazout may not be for you.
Why leave! There are many beaches and surf spots within walking distance of the accommodation but if you want to go further afield you can rent a car, take a taxi or take the public bus, although this is a bit slow! The nearest airport is Agadir (45 minutes) or Marrakech is about 3-4 hours away. Abdul can help with any of these things.
Other Things to Note
There's so much to do in Taghazout you will never get bored. You can sit around drinking mint tea with the locals and fellow travellers, hang out at the beach where you can surf, swim, sunbathe, play football with the locals or ride a camel or just sit back and relax with Abdul! Paradise Valley is about 45mins drive from Taghazout, A beautiful valley with gorges for swimming and cliff jumping and we can organize day trips for you and your crew! Another customer favorite is the local market in Banana village (5 minutes by car) on Wednesdays or go to the grand souk in Agadir any day except Monday (25 minutes by car).
We will welcome you any time of the day or night, but we ask that you give us an estimated time of arrival. We are pretty flexible with the check out time, however if we have a guest arriving we ask you to please consider this and leave enough time for cleaning of the room. Please remember to lock your door and ensure the front door is closed behind you.
