Light filled school bus in country setting. 1 mile from the Village of Saxapahaw located on the Haw River. Queen bed in bedroom & futon couch pulls out to a small double bed. Bus is complete with full kitchen, stove, SMEG fridge, full bath & composting toilet. Quick trip to Saxapahaw for great food at the General Store, The Eddy or Left Bank Butchery; beer at Haw River Ales; coffee at Cup 22; music at the Haw River Ballroom; kayak on the Haw River.

There is NO SMOKING on the property.
**The parking for the bus is approximately 100 yards from the bus doors**
**The bus has a composting toilet, which is a simple, eco-friendly alternative to a regular toilet. There’s no flushing—after each use, you just add a scoop of sawdust into the toilet. This keeps things dry, controls odor, and helps it break down naturally. It’s clean, easy to use.
Simply follow a few easy steps (instructions are provided on-site), and we take care of the rest
Poppy is a 1994 40 ft school bus that has been converted into a charming living space. It has a school bus height ceiling so if you’re over 6’2” you may have a problem standing up straight in some spots. I do however have very comfortable seating and it’s usually not a problem for the taller folks.
**Please note the couch is sized for a bus, pulls out into a very small double bed. If you’re over 6” and sleeping with a partner, it will definitely require snuggling**
She is parked at the back of the property surrounded by a small cottage, pond, flower and vegetable gardens and a large fire pit. Private setting away from the main house, peaceful and quiet.
Guest access
Guest will not have access to the cottage and other outbuildings located on the property. Enjoyment of the bus and outdoor space is highly encouraged. ;-)
Guest are welcome to use the fire pit, wood is located under the barn lean to.
Other things to note
**parking is approximately 100 yards from bus doors**
This is a 240 sq ft school bus. She has electricity, two window unit air conditioners and running water... however; it is a school bus! :-)
* The couch is sized for a bus and pulls out into a small double bed. Comfortably sleeps 1 adult or 2 children.
* During the summer she can get warm during the middle of the day if the curtains are open. Keeping the curtains closed and using the fans are tremendously helpful in keeping it cool during hotter months.
* You WILL see insects-
* If too many electrical appliances are running at the same time- (hairdryers, coffee pot, fan, heater, etc...) it will trip the circuit. Please be aware of this when running the appliances.
*The toilet is a real COMPOSTING toilet. No flushing, very clean and simple to use.
* Please wash any dishes that are used
* Please remove shoes upon entering the bus
We live on the property and you will see us working in the gardens, coming and going. We are happy to interact and socialize, but will respect guest privacy during the stay .
