Description

The space

The Sleepy Shack is simple, comfortable, bright and clean! The studio apartment is ideal for two tenants. Three can easily fit in this 500 square foot cabin if one person doesn't mind the couch or a blow-up mattress (provided).

Guest access

Plenty of parking! Full access to the yard.

Interaction with guests

The guests won't see much of us unless they want to! The apartment is private. The shared yard is large.

I usually knock on the door at / or shortly after check-in but won't bother you unless needed after that. (We sometimes need access to that area of the yard to get to our boat, etc.)

The neighborhood

The Sleepy Shack is within walking distance to Low Tide Brewery and very close to various dining options. Catch a movie at the Terrace Theater or enjoys some live music at The Pour House (within 5 miles).

Come explore Johns Island - The Vineyard, Sweet Water Distillery, the Tea Plantation, Angel Oak, the Johns Island Farmers Market. The wide, quiet beaches of Kiawah are 20 minutes away.

Or hop over to neighboring James Island to enjoy the many offerings of Folly Beach. Check out the fishing and surfing at the pier, or relax in the tidal pools, or shop and dine on the main drag. Grab some fresh Seafood from Crosby's or Huff's and bring it back to cook on the grill!

James Island County park is about 7 minutes from the apartment and offers scenic bike / walking trails and a great opportunities for fun with the kids!

20 minutes from the heart of Downtown Charleston!

Getting around

Once you arrive at Cane Slash Road, we are the 8th driveway on the left. We are the first brick house on the street - and there are 2 brick piers at the end of the driveway.

Please pull down the driveway and around to the back of our house. You will then see a large metal workshop. At that point, drive on the grass around and directly behind the metal building to park next to the picnic table at the Sleepy Shack. Ample parking is provided.

Please drive cautiously! We have a 8 year old son who likes to play in the yard!

Cava's place was a perfect place for a weekend getaway. Perfectly located and quiet, it worked out great for us! Thank you again for a great place to stay! Would recommend to anyone looking for a secluded place to stay close to Charleston

The Sleepy Shack was the perfect "home away from home" for our long weekend away from a corporate lifestyle. We were able to relax in the authentic "beachy" hideaway but were also 20 minutes away from downtown Charleston and Folly Beach. Cava and Billy made us feel welcome and comfortable from the beginning and the "shack" was fully equipped for a comfortable long weekend away. These amazing hosts offered to build us a fire in the quaint pit, use their grill, and offered great recommendations on restaurants! They truly are fantastic people! Our private sleepy shack was a perfect sanctuary for us to recharge our batteries ;-) We hope you make it out there and enjoy it as much as we did!

Cava's place was perfect! This was our first airbnb experience and it was wonderful. We left at 3am and planned on hitting the beach until we could check in at 3pm, but she was nice enough to have it ready at 9am so we could check in and drop our stuff off. So sweet to do and very much appreciated. The Sleepy Shack was perfect for just the two of us. Lots of charm, spacious, and had everything we needed. A lot of natural light and the outside deck area next to the fire pit was so nice to wake up and walk out to. She provided us with everything we needed and was so nice and offered great suggestions for our trip. The Sleepy Shack was in the middle of everything we needed/wanted to do. 15 minutes to Folly, 15 to Charleston, and next to tons of restaurants. The house is secluded yet close to everything. I would definitely suggest this location!

Cava's place was a great, secluded jewel within Charleston. My boyfriend and I came here for a wedding for a couple of days. We got in pretty late but Cava was super helpful in making sure we knew how to get in. The place was clean and super cozy! Her home is close to everything and she checked in a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed. While we didn't have a chance to use it, there's a fire pit outside as well. Will definitely stay with her when we come back to Charleston!

Comfortable and no frills, this is a fun unique place! The owners are easy going and friendly - they'll hang out with you, or stay out of your way, whichever you prefer. And my kids loved playing with their son. The neighbor's sweet dogs came over to play fetch:) The outdoor seating is a cool quiet spot to relax. We had a nice time!

Cava User ProfileCava is a superhost.

My artist husband and young son love the Johns Island lifestyle! We love the open space the rural environment provides. We enjoy the outdoors, heading to the beach (20 minutes away) or hopping on our boat for a spin around the waterways.

We aren't all country though! We enjoy the culture, history and fine dining that Charleston offers. Only 15 minutes away!
